We should have scored in this game, the run of fixtures looks so, so tough aswell.

I love this club, but to be in a position to have Sergi and Thompson as full backs in the Premier League is borderline negligence.
Negligence would be letting someone like Dave Webb or Ron Noades taking over the club.

4-4-2 is unlikely to be the answer as we've left ourselves short of an out and out right back, something we badly need to address. But there are other creative systems we could use, firstly a system that allows Ivan to get into the box more often would be a good start. I'm not convinced the long ball to Ivan with a runner off him is as effective as it was earlier in the season, teams have worked it out.

I'd like to see us return to Ivan through the middle in a front three for certain games.
Fair point and agree about getting Ivan into scoring positions. We have looked predictable going forwards. As good as Canos has been this season, I still think we need another option to play on the right and give us an attacking outlet.

We can’t keep going behind in games. First half was woeful. Second half a slight improvement. Just got to get through the next few games without too much damage.

Can you reference the data on this. Hamstrings are probably one of the most common injuries for football players.

And what is the preventative cure?
It can be failure to put enough emphasis on stretching the hamstring in training. Maybe overtraining too. It does seem that we have had a disproportionate number of these but l may be wrong. It shouldn't be the case with modern training methods but who knows?

Too many players missing, too many having to play out of position, then players not performing as they can…. put this down to experience, ride out City and hopefully have a few back fit for Villa!

As bad a first half as we’ve played all season.
We’ve huffed and puffed in the second half, unlucky not to score and had a more than questionable penalty shout, but Brighton have been in second gear knowing they’d done enough already.

I don't think they got out of first TBH with you!

Better second half
spine of the team out and the size of our squad we will always struggle.

Let’s just at least as a crowd make it uncomfortable for Man City and make them feel like they have been in a game!!

They sure are. Having a differing opinion doesn’t make one an idiot.
7 other “idiots” currently agree with me.
The DoFs wanted a right back but just couldn’t get one over the line. Ajer is seen as a decent back up if we go to a back 4 but he’s been out. Roserlov has done okay but he’s also out….

Brighton much better than us. That was a painful watch, completely energy sapping.

I know we have lots out, but we looked exhausted and completely out of ideas… good noise from the travelling fans, big effort being there. I’m sh*tting myself at a record loss to city with the missing players.

One to forget. Someone mentioned cricket on here. Should I watch that now? Will it be better?

Poor performance all round, second half looked better but in truth it was more to do with Brighton's game management. If required they'd have went up a few gears again, job for them was done by HT. The City game is an occasion to enjoy but Villa is the next big game and the one we should be planning for. Safe trip home to the fans who made the effort, they all deserve 50 TAPs.

As I mentioned during the game we need more than one way of playing.

What’s obvious is we lack real quality and anyone special.

They had Trossard and a spark, we didn’t.

Brighton weren’t better second half and could get caught up in the relegation battle, we need to buy in the window as this squad doesn’t have the depth to survive 38 games at this level when injuries and suspensions kick in.

My biggest issue is a complete lack of pace on either side of the pitch today, that has to be a priority in Jan.

Thoughts Pontus and Mads actually did ok

Our second half performance deserved a goal.

Just on Frank the tank, first few outings I thought he looked mustard, he looked the real deal..,.but, I’m now starting to think that he just isn’t very good 🤷‍♂️

Awful first half but unfortunate second half. Both of their goals were individual moments of brilliance whereas we went close a few times. Scoreline doesn’t quite tell the story although they still deserved the win.

Would really like a proper right back in January so Sergi can have a more attacking role. I also want to see Ghoddos have another premier league start. He always makes a couple of passes into dangerous areas that our other players can’t/don’t. We really need to learn to hold onto possession while advancing up the pitch 😓

Norgaard had a stinker, if he has a bad game the team have a bad game. We couldn't put 5 passes together.
