According to National Rail the first train from Clapham Junction to Brighton leaves at 520 am on Monday the 27th

According to Brighton Council the residents parking zones operate All day on a Matchday even on Sun Dec 26th

BUT

If you select Haywards Heath for example
There IS a train from there to Brighton

Once an hour at 15 past

BUT
The last train back from Brighton leaves at 20:07 !!

The line is closed between Gatwick Airport and Haywards Heath.

But you can get from London Bridge to Gatwick. Bus to HH. Then Train to Brighton.

Although most routes will have no service, the following services WILL RUN:
  • London Bridge - Gatwick Airport: Two trains per hour.
  • Gatwick Airport - Three Bridges: Buses will replace trains, two replacement buses per hour will run
  • Three Bridges - Brighton: Hourly train service
  • London Bridge - Sutton via Selhurst and West Croydon: Two trains per hour
  • London Bridge - East Croydon via Crystal Palace: Two trains per hour.

I thought so too, but could not immediately locate it.
Park and ride the way to go if you can drive to Brighton.
Patcham for me, maybe Pyecombe.
I will repeat though to anyone and that is do not try and park in Coldean, Stanmer, Moulsecombe, Bevendean or anywhere near Falmer that I have not mentioned.
Trust me they have got it Nailed.
The nearest free parking is Woodingdean. 1.6 miles south of the Amex.
Obviously the club has arranged coaches since we spoke which is good.

Then you'd need to get a cab to Falmer. Zero trains to Falmer on Boxing Day...
How are there no match day trains from Brighton to falmer.
Farce

Is there really no way of driving, parking somewhere and walking / cabbing it ?

Then they should never host a boxing day game, more so with no parking available.

Their ground was built on the need of that brighton falmer link
They used to shift the games to the 27th.
They have hosted a Boxing day game v Chelsea and apparently it was carnage.
Ours may be different as hardly anyone wants to go or simply can't go.
It's my local game so I'll do whatever I can to get there and back.
It is a pain in the arse on a normal day.
Bigger pain on a public holiday.

In the city centre for parking.
Uber for cabbying.
Last quote I got was £40 return trip in a cab.
£12 - £15 for car park.
Trafalgar Road one.
Trust me when I say I have looked at everything.

Yeah.
Coaches will get away quite smoothly I reckon as they will want the space they will occupy.
I have never done the park and ride before so it's a new on for me.
It's a nightmare driving away from the Amex at the best of times.
I have done it.
Once.
Never again.

So how many cabbies in South Sussex will be working on Boxing Day ?
Horsham ?
No idea but I'm going to try and book beforehand, if not then its a 40 minute walk :D

Just spoke with Brighton & Hove Streamline taxis, they will be operating, can book with them a week prior and its time and half on boxing day. £16 to go 3.5miles

Does that mean close ish to the ground ?Is it best to arrange that now ?
I booked mine a few weeks ago and will book a taxi nearer the game.. best I can see now is a 35minute walk from Coldean or 40/50 minute walk from Mouslecoomb.

If the work is there they will work.
The private hire drivers are pre bookings only so if the bookings are there they will work, but Station cars and Hackney Carriage vehicles may well be at a premium.
You have to remember though that Boxing day is a double tariff.

I once did the London to Brighton bike ride. If there hadn't been trains to take me back, I'd probably still be there. Or dead on Ditchling Beacon.

Good luck with that!
A total CPZfest in this city and (rightly so) cars are very actively dissuaded from entering.
The few non permit streets are heavily oversubscribed.

As a teenager I cycled to both Brighton and Southend for League games. Great going but seemed 4 times as long cycling back to Heston....

Also remember coming back from a Grimsby away game midweek - got off the coach at Brentford in the early hours and retrieved my bike from a mate's house to cycle back to Heston. Got as far as Osterley Station when stopped by a police car whose occupants wanted to know where I had been and where was I going. Said I had been to Grimsby and they replied " What - on your bike ?? !! "....:ROFLMAO:

If the facilities and experience is as sh*te as people are making out, they ain't gonna get many away fans, would be interesting to see what % of away allocation is taken by clubs across the league.

It wouldn’t usually be an issue because the trains would be running.

It's great normally on a Saturday, Boxing day is the problem.
