He’s a young man just turned 20, let’s not forget. He’s going to have fluctuations in performance.

Since the illness, he seems to be struggling for fitness after 60 minutes, but also lacking a little from the start. To be expected and maybe unfair comparing him to before the break. He will improve, but seems not at 100% to me.

What "illness"?

He tested positive, it doens't mean he suffered with any issues. One positive test after a week before he was negative and a week after he was negative.

OK, it seems when covid has been present with some it has an after affect. With elite sportsmen, could it be that testing positive (with no obvious symptoms) may have an effect? Or maybe the lack of training during that period. I am not an expert nor a doctor. If I am wrong in my concern for what seems a drop in his performance compared to the exceptional work before the break, fair enough. You may know more about this than me. :D

Or two games a week might be having an impact ?

I am sure it will, but to me he seemed further off his form of pre-break compared to others. Only a small observation, and hopefully nothing more than catching up.

Whilst I cannot debate the after effects of testing positive for C19, I assume that the management team will have sufficient data on BM as to whether he is performing at the desired levels. We are lucky in that we have excellent options whoever starts/plays.

Probably in the minority but actually thought he was looking a bit better today and more like himself - certainly in the first half.

Yes, he and the rest of the team looked more comfortable in their own skin than recent weeks. That is, until Keith Stroud flipped that switch in his head. Never mind.

I don’t think he should play in the 2nd leg from the start though.

Yes he was better but ran out of steam. He's only young and had a brilliant season. But we need to start Valencia, Halil or Fosu on Wednesday as they are much sharper.

Agreed, Bryan has been exceptional this year and whilst he does drift in and out of games - which is normal for the position he plays- he has always been likely to add a telling contribution with a goal or assist. It's not really been happening for him in the last handful of games and as a young player you can see a bit of a drop in confidence. I would look to another option on Weds.

Not sure whether it warrants a start in the second leg as he didnt do much else but his ball to the back post that ollie should have done better with was quality. Center forwards wet dream

As others have stated he has had a fantastic season and has probably set expectations too high but since the restart he has struggled. I doubt TF will change things for Wednesday but I’d like to see Fosu start in his place.

Will score on Wednesday :sorted:
:D delighted for Bryan especially after his half chance in the first half. Too good a player. Well done TF for having the confidence in him.

I guess that is why Thomas has persevered with him.

Really pleased he got his goal, the confidence from that coupled with 5 days off and we could have him at full tilt on Tuesday!

It was in whatever he wants it to have been!
The first could’ve been some young scrote of old Brentford town!!

I’ll stick with Shanks (Western League) and Mbeumo (EFL Championship).

The first and last will, however, be scored by the opposition!!

Buck for Plymouth and Brewster for Swansea. :(

love the story that Frank told that Mbuemo wanted to make a speech to the team before the game.. As a 20 yr old who's been in england less than a year that's incredible... Just shows how good our recruitment now is in getting the right type of people in.... So pleased for him he got that goal....

He was better this game. Hopefully that goal will change him for Tuesday. First half when he cut inside and then outside and the ball went about 5 yards in front of him I feared the worse.

I think we forget how young he is. Him and Josh are 21, they’re going to have dips in form- consistency will come.

Instantly looked like he perked up after his goal, great time for him to get it and will hopefully set him up for the big stage at wembley

Interesting what Frank said about Bryan wanting to give a message to the rest of the players pre match.

He's not been the same since we resumed so was glad/made up that he managed to get the third, cracking finish too.

Really really really pleased for him, the relief on his face after that great goal, was just something special especially after that awful miss, he now can go to Wembley full of confidence and pride.
Like you said, for him to want to make a speech to his fellow team mates, just shows the character of the young man. Me personally, I'm just proud of the lad.

That was the most passion I've seen from Bryan after he scored, since he joined the club. Shows how much it means to the squad and how possibly he was getting a bit concerned about his recent peroromances so was delighted to contribute in such a decisive way.

Another one in the final please Bryan
