I will have a celebration after this stupid vote - of course it stays.

When does Moving on Up get played? Can remember it used to be occasionally after games but can’t remember when / why now

100% it should stay imo. Used to love filing out of GP within this blaring out - happy with a Bees win. Hoping we continue to play it as every home win in the PL will be even better.
Never heard any other club play it either - so to me it is a Brentford tradition and is part of that great post home win feeling as you exit the ground.

If we had a brass band with drums in the West Stand we wouldn’t have to be so reliant on whatever Big Bee Radio plays over the tannoys, they could just strike up whatever WE, the fans, wanted (including Celebration at the end). Unfortunately, a small group of idiots think drums and trombones at football are ‘a bad thing’ so at present it’s unlikely to happen 🤓

Things that need to change:
  • The sh*t awful ticketing system
Things that don’t need to change:
  • Playing Celebration when we win
Get your priorities right Brentford.

Odd that the club would even discuss getting rid of it 😕 What is there to gain from changing it? Are they going to play adverts instead?

I get that there's a push for Brentford to be more polished as a club, and we can all see the logic behind the updated brand visuals, new badge, ticketing system, shiny new stadium etc.

But if they get rid of 'celebrate' they'll only be replacing it with another song that some people will love, some people will hate, and some people will feel indifferent to -- but with none of the tradition.

I thought Banana was suggesting The End as an alternative. Nicely left-field, but maybe too long.
How about Break On Through when we win, and Alabama Song for the rare occasions when we don't?

Pretty sure that if we’re considering a change it’ll be because the youth don’t identify with celebration so can’t see either of those coming into play.

Would be very sad to see this go. It is totally synonymous with leaving GP in a happy mood after seeing the team win, it would be great to see this continued at LR. You can't just dump every tradition that comes from the past.

Would affect any sponsorship deals with Verizon Communication Inc who own the Yahoo! Search engine? 🤔😏

FFS. They'll be wanting us to play Peppa Pig on the concourse TVs next...

It must be kept.

Love the singing of Hey Jude during the 'Lap of Appreciation' which is a great new initiative.

Would continue to follow Hey Jude with Celebration.

If there is a new song, then it should be played third whilst we get used to it.

It takes us a lot longer to leave the new stadium, so there is plenty of scope

BFC BOARD MEETING
31st AUGUST 2021
CONFIDENTIAL MINUTES

On the pitch review

Its been an excellent start to the season. 5 points from 3 games including a tremendous 2-0 win against Arsenal under the lights in front of a packed BCS.

The board unanimously agreed that Thomas Frank retains the full support of the board and that Phil Giles and Ras Ankersen will be supported to strengthen the first and B teams as necessary.

Off the pitch review

The issues are significant. Many fans failed to receive STs before the first game; the ticketing platform is not intuitive or user friendly; ticketing for away games can be improved; the online club shop is having many issues; there were serious issues with entry into the stadium for the EFL Cup match against Forest Green.

Q - what is the single most important thing we can do right now to improve any of these problems

A - we’re going to stop playing Celebration after a win.

If we win, not bothered what is played but do like to hear celebration, noticed they play Move on up by Curtis Mayfield, which is one of my all time fav dance tracks, so happy with that.

Something that I noticed at the Arsenal game, was that PG didn't announce the goal scorers...Come to think of it, I don't think he neither mentioned the subs or extra minutes. Is this a PL / Sky thing? Maybe i was caught up in the moment, or his microphone was turned off?

Keep it but replace it with Bowie's Heroes on special occasions like when we thrash Liverpool.

Good memories I guess, always thought it to be very "nans-at-bingo" though.

KEEP ffs!

Synonymous with a 3 points and a warm and happy feeling
Exactly.

This and slowly making my way up the steps of New Road with my old Dad, all those years ago. Although too often to the tune of 'the way it is' by Bruce Hornsby.

I vote keep, but accept that sometimes you have to break it to make it and the club is ambitious and wants to evolve.

I was lost in the joy of victory over Arsenal, when I suddenly realised I was singing along and dancing to Celebration.
I quickly reverted to my usual self-conscious self, and stopped.
Keep Celebration, please

Billy I'm not sure they played it. I I didn't hear it but I shot off back to our place on the coast after about 5 minutes. Perhaps it came later?

I suspect the combination of that song and 4.55pm on a Saturday evening evokes so many memories for so many fans of family members and friends who are no longer with us it would be cruel to get rid of it, IMO.

I see another Brentford tradition is trying to be swept away. Can remember this being played at least since the late 1980s.

Totally agree. I'm sure we played it too when we beat Fulham 4-0 in that famous season in the early 90s era?

Didn't know until this Summer he was in Dexeys Midnight Runners.
Didn’t know that until just now…..

On a slightly more serious note, the club was around for 91 years before Celebration was released. Unless we are going to question why Victorian rowing songs aren’t still being sung, we have to accept some of the reference points around the club are going to change over time.

Although personally I want the Victorian rowing songs back.
