Great altruistic and comendable gesture. Welcome to our club and strengthening the back line. Hoping for the best defensive record in the Championship next season.

Similar in a lot of ways to Ethan Pinnock. Played in the local non-league circuit (for Hayes and Hendon) not too long ago. Leadership qualities, height and a threat from set pieces.

I hope he takes insipiration from the way EP took the step up in his stride.

He isn't coming here to be a backup We may well be reverting to three at the back unless we are going to lose Pontus or Ethan and what a three they would be!. On the assumption that we aren't losing Pontus or Ethan there's backup from Racic and Sorensen for a new approach.
Maybe Thomas is going to change things as it seems that teams have the measure of how to frustrate us and our squad will have a different mix of talent which is less suited to 4-3-3.

It would be nice to have the option of an attacking 3-4-3 and we used it a few times at the end of the season. I still think he will basically be back up in a 4-3-3, although of course he might take his chance and become undroppable like Pinnock did. But Pinnock had played in the Championship before; this guy is coming from League 2 and might need more time to adjust.

At his age and being captain of a promoted side, l don't think he would have come here to be a back up. He rejected terms from Middlesborough and we met his requirements. If he hadn't come here he could have got championship football elsewhere. To me it looks like a change in approach is coming and in my view that wouldn't be a bad thing .Promotion is a grind and you need very strong resilience defensively to sustain the required level of consistency. It looks like we are going to try and be even more professional in that depertment as the key to getting us up.

We need 4 first-choice centre backs to get through this gruelling season, with more midweek games, if we are going to better last season with a solid defence.

He didn’t reject terms at Boro they couldn’t agree a fee. I don’t see why it is so strange that a League 2 centre half would agree to be third choice in a side that finished 3rd in the Championship last year, is moving into a brand new stadium and is finally in a position to offer competitive wages for the division. Throw in that he is a West Londoner and it’s a no-brainer.

I suspect he's coming here to give us a better option than Jeanvier, who may well move on. When Pontus was injured we were noticeably weaker. As others have said, you need 4 quality CBs in the ranks to get through a gruelling season.

CG is some 3 or 4 years younger than JJ, for a similar outlay but more development potential. Should allow Racic and MBS to continue their progression on loan or whatever. (JJ will of course confound us all now by not moving on....)

I think there is probably a question mark over whether Pontus can play 46 games in a compressed season, so we need a proper alternative. Goode seems like a decent choice for this role.

If the squad cap of 25 players comes in we would as things stand be 3 over, I assume we would have to release or loan out 3?

Very interesting and impressive report. Maybe Thomas is looking at playing with a back 3 this season ?

Last season we learned to be able to play with a back 3 and a back 4, before starting with the former and moving onto the latter.

I really, really am not a fan of a back 3 though, I just find it stifles us... We're so much more effective with the three in midfield.

We'll stick to a back four. This signing is damage limitation for if and when Pontus struggles with injury.

If l had three beasts like Goode, Ethan and Pontus, they'd all be on the pitch. 3-4-3. or 3-5-2.We won't be as effective playing 4-3-3 without Ollie and Said. Stick on that that teams know how to frustrate us. If we are going to make an impact we need to try a new approach

When Forss is tearing up defences and scoring 25 goals at the seasons end. Valencia on the right is chipping with another 15 you will not remember Olly and Said!!! Oh yes and you will be complaining that Huckinghull is being sold for 10 million.

Thought he looked generally very composed and showed a decent passing range from the back. A fair few nice balls across the pitch to the opposite wing. Will be very useful when we’re being pressed high up the pitch..

Yeah, there has been a bit of a focus on fbk on the second goal, but I have been more than happy with what I have seen so far. I thought his passing was very good on the whole, better than expected to tbh.

Looked decent enough but wasn't really under any pressure from the Oxford forwards. Bench warmer to start with subject to injuries.

I expect he’s going to take some time to understand the way we play and feel comfortable with it. I’d say he’s behind Racic until that happens.

Racic is on loan at Northampton.

Having seen him in a few games so far seems to be Leon Legge v2. Can see why he was popular and successful in L2 but will have to do a lot of work in the training ground on his technical side, which Thomas alluded to in his interview.

 don’t think he’s anything like Leon Legge. He’s composed on the ball for starters.

Really? I wouldn't say he has looked composed on the ball when under pressure from what I have seen so far. Hopefully will improve on that area in training.

Looked fine, large step up and trust the management that they will improve the player. After all, we haven’t signed him as the finished article. Some major overreaction on Twitter 😂

I didn't see much wrong myself. Got caught out once late on when Kashket got away but thought fine otherwise.

He looks a bit different, coming in with more of a lower league "put it into row Z under pressure" mentality. I hope that isn't entirely coached out of him, as there's a little too much high risk intricate passing it around at the back at times, which results in it being played to the opposition or out of play anyway.

Getting used to our high line where a few times he played players on. Other than that simple but effective

I thought he was decent. If he can maintain that level of performance then he'll work as a backup CB just fine, if he can improve then he'll be a real player for us. For the money he seems a good buy.

I thought he was way off our first team standard, so many times he was the wrong side of the attacker and his decision-making erratic, particularly whether to close down or stand off. That may be because he's used to playing in a back 3 with not so much space between the centre backs, maybe the occasion got to him. There's a lot of work to do.

Can’t say I saw any of this. Thought he was fine.

At this moment in time (I know it's early days yet) I can't see that he offers more than Jeanvier did.

Well maybe JJ didn't want to stay as a backup and Phil & Raz are just managinging the position?
