A bit early perhaps, but what are your thoughts? Is it just a fun day out or do we stand a chance? A draw would be absolutely fantastic - lots more bucks at Stamford Bridge but this isn't Sunderland or Everton is it? My guess is that we'll concede a couple early on to put a bit of a dampener on things, but then with nothing to lose we'll have a right go at them. 1-4 would be my guess but what do you reckon, any realistic chance? :fishing:

On a serious not I'm hoping to scrape a draw at home (don't think we will but you know) and then we'll get spanked at the bridge

We play the right way and are trying to get to Championship level. The way we play at least gives us a chance but I can't see anything other than an away win. However, if they underestimate us, have an off day or we get some luck, we might get a result cos that's how cup upsets happen.

It's a shame that the game wasn't at Chelsea. I believe that they have only won 1 out of about the last 5-6 there however away from home they have champions form. Hopefully we can get a draw and take them back to their place for a nice pay day.

Probably the best result for us would be a bit more snow and getting it postponed until after transfer deadline day ;).

Our game with them is sandwiched between the second leg v Swansea (Wed) and Reading (Wed) away in the league. They need to turn round a 2-0 deficit v Swansea and would expect them to play a full strength team. Benitez is bound to make changes for us, and I reckon we then may have a chance.

On the day, it's two teams of 11 players playing against each other for 90 minutes. Anything could happen.

I have a suspicsion that we'll be proud of our team. Whether that's a win, draw or a loss, we're going to exit GP at 2.00pm after the game with our heads held high.

Guessing Rafa would put a fairly strong line-up out with them being on TV and being the current holders.

Realistically, a draw would be quality. Donaldson 94th min to equalise :)

Hate to sound negative but no, not really. They'll put a near full-strength side out and keep the ball and make life difficult Of course, being the cup, anything can happen, but it all hinges on how seriously Blues take it: given there's not much else to play for in their season I imagine they'll be taking it seriously and, at the least, will have the big guns on the bench. Best case scenario, a draw.

With the biggest TV audience in years and years will be all eyes on GP and I can't help but think some of the less experienced players may feel very nervous, whereas CFC certainly won't be, and a surfeit of adrenalin can obviously hinder performance.

I spoke to one BFC loan player, very impressed with what he's seen, who reckons we've got a very realistic chance if we use the two or three players we have who can score "out of nothing" and upset their old guard against the run of play, but personally, and realistically, I just cannot see it scoring more than them. I dearly hope I am proved wrong

What is certain is that if CFC put out a strong side, which is almost a certainty in itself, and Bees DO win, it will surely be the biggest FA cup upset in decades, right?

Problem with chelsea is they take the cup seriously and they have strength in depth. However griffin park is a fortress atm so if we hold out til half time they'll start panicing. We also have 2 excellent counter attackers in harry and donaldson who could potentially hurt them with their pace.
You never know

cliche-ometer elert . ! The FA Cup is also a great leveler

I think we'd stand more chance at their gaff with 3,000 of us cheering and 27,000 of theirs booing . Their away support gets behind the team .

We're a Championship team in the making ,I think we'll give them a game . Ba worrys me though ,hope hes cup tied ,black sheep of the family blah blah

All I hope (and I'm sure it will happen) is that we play our normal game and our quality players show what they can do. I hate to see lower league teams just packing their defence in the vain hope of getting a 0-0 or a goal on the break.

We want people who watch us on the TV to be surprised and impressed by what they see. Although of course not to the extent that the likes of Forrester get transferred on the Monday.

Being realistic and If we play with the same attitude and skill as shown against Southend I think we will catch them unaware with our determination and could be in with more than a chance of at least a draw, Chelski won’t like playing on a small pitch, they are used to much more space, we are used to these size pitches and this should be to our advantage.

Whatever the result I don’t think we will let ourselves down, we have the players here now have shown what they are capable of on the day, they will be out to impress the crowd and the TV viewers.

A draw and then a replay at the Bridge would go down a treat. (A win at home would be better, but I live in the real world) Whatever the outcome we should be proud of this team of ours.

Let's not bother shall we....Christ....we have a fantastic chance and were gonna win! All the pressure is on them and they are a club without unity, clear direction or that feel good vibe that we have. We have done the hard work by beating Southend, now our players can play with freedom and show the world just how good they are, I will not be at all suprised if our boys get a result.

I'm a realist and I really think we have a great chance.
We have a great team spirit, score goals, great at home, have some really quick players, got nothing to lose and don't give up.
Good to hear the players believe too.
Add to that that Chelsea have 2 tough games that they have to win on Sunday and Wednesday (where they will field their strongest sides) and the fact that they will underestimate us and I can see us winning.
Obviously they're a good side but CD v Terry, Harry v whoever, Moore plays a blinder.
It's 90 mins and we're a very good side.
Believe.

I know it's a bit weird and probably neither would happen but I'd actually prefer a draw to a win. A replay at SB would be a fantastic night. But even if we lose the home match will be a fantastic day. Can't wait.

realistically no, and I think 1-3 would be a good result for us, particularly if they don't score the 3rd until the 85th minute.

But it is the cup and here are some reasons why we could win
1) they are going to get a shock in the away dressing room (its so small the treatment table is set up in the showers) this could put off their stride, talking about little Brentford etc and then underestimating us
2) Think they could play Terry, just coming back so may not be up to 100%
3) While long term lower league players like Dave and Dougiee might be a bit shell shocked, at least 5 of the likely starting line up have been in and around Premiership clubs and will not be fazed
4) 2 of those are on loan from Premier clubs and will really want to make a statement that says I am up to playing in the Prem. A blinding performance by Jake for example may move him up the pecking order.
5) If they lose to Arsenal, the whole Rafa thing could make them implode

What I am sure of is they will outplay us for long spells of the game. But if, as against Swansea, they are profligate with their chances, we have a chance

If they get a couple of early goals and get their finishing right, we could be in real trouble

Yes. Why not? Bradford have beaten Arsenal and Villa. They will not play their best team and will completely overate us and have no experience of playing a lower division team away from home. What's more we're bloody good and will give it our all.
I realistically expect a draw and think we could edge it.

Nonsense. We are going to smash them just like we smashed Everton, Sunderland, Southampton, Blackburn and others.
That's the spirit!! 1p into Kew Gardens. Well I never.

We will have a couple of decent chances during the game. It's whether we execute one of them and put them under it. Don't concede early, rattle a few of them and win the key battles....one in each segment of the pitch. If Rafa turns up thinking its an easy stroll to pick up his win bonus then he will be proved wrong. We have a GOOD chance to nick a draw....at least!

Lets not be flippant, if we played them ten times we might win once, lets hope this game is that one!

We might play in a lower league but our squad are professional full time footballers, that also happen to be a very good team, currently enjoying a really good run. I expect the players will have a much more positive attitude than some of the fans that post on here. I've said it elsewhere, we're not in this game just to make up the numbers, and I fully expect Uwe to have a plan up his sleeve to try and win. I'm not saying we will win, but I expect the lads to believe that they can and have a damned good go at it.

Yes we have a chance,of course we have.Im going in the hope of seeing one of the greatest shocks in FA cup history.

If I didn't think that way then I will go shopping or spend the afternoon watching Telly.

I think we have a great chance. Years gone by you would worry about the gulf in fitness, today I don't think that's anywhere near such a big issue with the squad we have.

With the hungry youngsters and the seasoned, older pro's we have, all of whom are riding on the crest of a wave at the mo....you never know. COYR!!

Personally, being realistic, I think we will get beat. However, if we can get through the first twenty minutes without conceeding then douts will start to appear in the Chelsea minds, whilst our lads will start to think maybe we have a real chance here. Also if say three/four of our players win their personal battles then anything can happen.

Also lets not forget that they are around 40 places higher in the league structure than us, but Wrexham last year were about the same behind us, and we all know what happened.

So to me the first twenty, or so, minutes is vital if we are to have any chance. Chelsea don't score and our belief will increase. Having said all that Chelsea will probably have a little to much for us whatever team they put out.

If we defeat Chelsea that will make us better than every team in Europe right? Yep, thought so.

No if they play a strong team. If they play their reserves it might be different especially as all is not well there.
