Was that ‘83? I felt quite alone on the Kop in ‘74 but they were very tolerant when I erupted skywards early on as Roger Cross beat Ray Clemence. Just one guy turned, gave me a nice smile and said “Enjoy it son, you won’t get any more”. Alas, he was right.
Sadly though, that spontaneous and irrepressible Scouse humour which pervaded this match had largely disappeared when I revisited for a non-Bees game some twenty years later - only heard the usual uninspired chants against the opposition.
