We need to play a strong team as we have a great opportunity to reach semifinal. Players then have 4 days to a match that could be cancelled
Problem is TF may not be able to pick a strong team. May be a matter of 'Kev, dig out yer boots'.

Matthew Benham doesn’t care about this competition and if we have to play Chelsea then the next two PL games would take precedent.

I agree but sense that TF will select a team he believes that we can win. We have no promotion to concern ourselves with and I am confident we won't be in the relegation mix. A semi final is spot is huge for a club our size.

Am contraire I thought they very much did, and had stated they wanted to win it.

We’ve had a decent rest since our last game though (Covid cases aside) so I’d like to think we would take it seriously given where we are (and the risk we will all be taking by attending).

Sorry if this has been mentioned before.

My wife and I have just tested positive and we have tickets for Wednesday.
Can we get a refund?
I've looked on the BFC FAQ and it only mentions STH's and the ticket exchange.

When they originally travelled to Wolves they had enough to fill their bench, so they weren’t needed

And am I right in saying that even if they could ferry a handful of youngsters up to Wolves they wouldn’t have been available for selection as that would have mean changing bubbles, which isn’t allowed at such short notice?

What is said in public and what happens can be two entirely different things. Something has to give over this Xmas period due to the amount of players that are out.

It’s in the customer charter. Ring up tomorrow morning for a full refund.

Two games away from a first-ever national cup final? And you think Benham would turn up the chance?

I remember Andy Scott having enough players to fill a bench but would not to make a point. Marinus did the same with two goalkeepers on the bench at Middlesbrough.
We could have done with all three goalkeepers that night at Middlesbrough !!

And we will be nervous about giving debuts to B team players as it may prevent us from postponing league games in the future

We started Toney, Canos, Ajer, Jensen, Alvaro vs Stoke, I don’t see why we would then not go strong vs Chelsea at a later stage…

May we assume this is because he doesn't want/need any distractions from the overriding need to survive at least one season in the PL?
For him, league matches trump everything. Since 2013 we’ve always taken less interest in cup competitions.

MB saw our league form falter before the Chelsea cup match at GP and the subsequent drop of around five or so points.

West Stand BCS.
As this game looks like it will be going ahead, I will have a ticket in the West Stand, available.
I have it as print at home, but I think there is a way it can be emailed to someone.

You seem to be implying that MB will give instructions/ or at least provide a steer to TF on to prioritise our game on Sunday over Wednesday. I just can’t see MB would interfere.

Although at least we scored. Indeed iirc no other away team scored there for about three months.

No way we can prioritise anything above PL survival. In these uncertain times we cannot afford to take any risks.

EFL have released a statement in which I infer the rules on squad fulfilment will apply as they are, which probably means the game has to go ahead?

He won’t give instructions or a steer. It’s part of agreed policy between him, Phil and TF that the league comes first. We have three matches in eight days. Something has to give.

I’m not sure you’re as ITK as you think unless he’s now consulting you.
Given circumstances, I think TF may well prioritise the QF vs a Chelsea side who don’t want to play us over Man City who we will expect to get nothing out of over Xmas?

In addition, we haven’t played for what over 11/12 days and longer for Toney, Canos and Ethan. He would want them and others to get their match fitness back ahead of Brighton.

Possible we will have a stronger eleven from our available resources than Chelsea will ??

Across our two squads, these are the players that are not currently injured (as far as we know) and that have either played senior professional minutes before or been in PL matchday squads for us this season:

GK: Alvaro, Cox

DEF: Thompson, Henry, Goode, Pinnock, Jansson, MBS, Racic, Roerslev, Stevens, Gordon, Jones, Oyegoke

MF: Norgaard, Jensen, Ghoddos, Onyeka, Peart-Harris, Baptiste, Janelt, Bidstrup, Zamburek, Maghoma

FW: Forss, Wissa, Valencia, Toney, Mbeumo, Brook, Canos, Young-Coombes, Haygarth, Adams

So that’s what we have to work with before any COVID infections and isolations are taken into account.

We know that Sorensen, Pinnock, Jensen and Toney are all recently recovered from the virus so should definitely be available. Between those guys and whichever of the rest of the squad are not infected we should hopefully have enough to be competitive if the game goes ahead?

Wrong analysis. They must have played first team football. Cox doesn’t count

Sure; Cox, Oyegoke, Maghoma and Young-Coombes don’t “count”.

But they are eligible to play should we select them and they have been part of Premier League squads so I included them as it gives a better idea of our “true” depth.

Having had around 10 days off with limited training at best. I suspect it might be a chance to give those who are able to play a chance to catch up on match fitness.

If there’s limited training then launching into a match is not the best preparation against avoiding injuries.

Looks like there is no choice in the matter .... the EFL & Premier Lge have decreed that matches will be played unless
Clubs are down to less than 13 players and a goalkeeper. Doesn't say anything about you can opt out of playing if you have only had
limited training. Ever thought of getting a job with Prof Chris Whitty ?

Depends on what 'recovered' means. Might just mean testing negative but in no fit state to play. Covid aside, if a player had just had flu or a bad cold he'd probably not be considered match fit for some time afterwards. Of course, we might be lucky and they might all have been asymptomatic and feel fit as a butcher's dog.

Well Jensen has been back for a little while.
Sorensen for a couple games.

Frank said Pinnock and Toney were available for Southampton before it was postponed.

Chelsea will play there U23s.. we might play a weakened team made mostly of b teamers
Chelsea’s players who did not feature against Wolves trained on Monday and they were joined by several academy stars including Harvey Vale, Josh Brooking, Alfie Gilchrist, Dion Rankine, Xavier Simons, Joe Haigh, Jay Wareham and Lewis Hall.

You're talking absolute rubbish. The club and TF especially want to go as far as possible and will put out a stronger team than many think.

9/2 to beat Chelsea and 25/1 to win the cup available. Did MB make his money recognising value or what ?
