The club need to be very careful with this one.

There is a high probability that many Chelsea fans would have purchased a Membership, just so they could get a ticket for this game.

@hobbsy can you confirm this is the case?
I thought there was a cut off point for purchasing Memberships??
I believe they are still on sale, the cut off was at 10,000 for a guaranteed match.

A category B match designated as a low interest one. Probably Burnley, Norwich at home etc.

Yep or Chelsea. Played them quite recently and it took them until the 4th half to get on top. Nothing to see here just another average Prem team.

We're a business so I wouldn't see the need to stop selling a product. What does surprise me is there isn't a cut off date of when the membership was bought assigned in the qualifying criteria for Catagory A tickets.

Not just that, but I imagine there must be a number of Chelsea fans for whom Brentford are (or were) their "2nd team", so may even have TAPs to help get them in. Wouldn't be surprised if we see a fair number of away fans in the home section - question then is how are they actually dealt with!

I think if we see some issues in the big games (and Liverpool / Chelsea will tell us all we need to know), then the club should consider a nominal threshold of, say, 50 TAPs for certain games (perhaps category A* matches).

I’d expect “2nd teamers” to have manners and not turn up in Chelsea shirts or start jumping up and down if they score. We, as a lower division club did encourage fans of the big local PL clubs to come and watch us so provided ones who took us up on that regularly behave I don’t really have a problem with it.

Spot on! We attracted new season ticket holders, new memberships as well as day trippers to GP in the last few seasons. It is very unlikely many of that number are completly new to football or gained an interest in football as a local club were doing well. It is more likely a lot of them have links to other clubs but have genuine warmth for Brentford. If a few Chelsea fans have Brentford as their second team and have built up TAPS I'd fully expect they'll enjoy the game and not lose the run of themselves in the stands.

Anyone turning up with Chelsea shirts who aren’t kids should be ironed out and turfed out. I hope this helps.

We have no idea how many Arsenal fans were in the ground for that game, as they had no reason to show themselves. I fear this game it will become a lot more apparent, given they will be clear favourites here while many live locally and would have no problem paying £40 extra for a membership to get in.

Maybe controversial but I have no problem with Chelsea fans who have been going to see Brentford as a 'second team' for years attending, as they have done the Brentford yards as well and aren't likely to be the ones who cause trouble. However I suspect there will be a number of 'new members' attending, shall we say....

I also feel there should be a minimum TAP for this one, even if it's something like 200. Anyone who has made no attempts to buy tickets for other games this season shouldn't be able to buy here IMO.

I don't know what the cut off date is for new memberships being able to buy tickets, it should already be restricted.

Thanks - see it now. I was refreshing the 'Home tickets' page because, well, they are, but they only showed up on the 'Home' page rather than that, in classic glitchy ticketing site style ...

So if anyone else is having this issue, click on 'Home' rather than 'Home tickets'.

Maybe the club will get loads of these rogue members hoping to get to see their team when they play at Brentford. All their £40 will go in the kitty then we'll introduce a TAP's require that will keep them out of actually buying one?

I think expecting the club to use stricter criteria for this game than that already used for Arsenal, Brighton and Liverpool are sure to be disappointed.
We've published the policy. Chelsea are local but it's hardly like there aren't Liverpool fans all over London and the south east. I have been guilty of sharing what I think the rules should be in at least a couple of these threads, but every match ticketing thread is now dominated by the same debate 🙈 I suppose we will just have to see what happens.

I too am surprised there isn't a tactical gap in selling new memberships, we often used to do this before big games at GP. The rule that says you can only buy over the phone or in person if you buy after the actual date they go on sale (?) is the lowest of low bars to clear.

Unfortunately it may need something to happen, with away fans in the home areas for the policy to change, and even then it probably won't.

I hope the next threshold tomorrow once announced is sensible i.e over 900 Taps and work downwards on that basis.

How many have you got then??!! 🤔😉😁

My son's got 830, missed out on lower limit by 20 for Liverpool game, and didn't manage to get one in the "No TAPs required/fastest finger free for all".......

Ha over 900 under 1100 :)

My post was however more not to open it up to all members as Chelsea fans no doubt have membership and we want more true Brentford fans in the ground.

And will be available to all members on a first come first basis from Monday 20 September. I think the next threshold should have been 750 plus? If there are any tickets available from next Monday then Chelsea fans will get tickets.

I think there will always be 50% of tickets available on a no TAPs required system for Catagory A games? I do get your point though if there are tickets left that was set aside for TAPs then they should go down to 750 for example.

If any of the Chelsea coke head types who smashed up The Nelson last time they visited GP get in the home stands I'm sure it'll be interesting!

Not 50% surely.

Yes set the next threshold slightly lower, it’s not as if the game is being played next weekend plenty of time. It will be sold out for certain come Monday but how many Chelsea fans whom have got membership only and no TAPs will get tickets?

Yeah 50% is what was communicated at the start of the season.
Half of available tickets go to members within the taps limits, the other half goes on sale to all members.

Yes 50%, that is what has been communicated to people when buying a membership so it can't change this season.

Every Cat A game has 50% of tickets available to members with no TAPs threshold. In theory if there are 1500 Chelsea fans with membership they could take all the tickets. If they were allowed unlimited F&F as some have argued, one Chelsea fan could buy them all up in a single transaction!
