If CE saw Newcastle play at the weekend, draws or enough for them, it won’t do his chances of going to the World Cup any good. Especially if they are are relegated.

We're offering him a 6 month deal with option of another year which would be a good deal. However imagine what Newcastle might offer him, wouldn't surprise me if they offered him a three year deal straight out.
As for the WC Denmark wouldn't have the depth of England for example and our championship players were selected in their squads. Good luck to the lad whatever he decides; there could be a very big contract on the table that might be impossible to turn down and nobody could blame him if he said yes to that.

Apart from Jensen and Norgaard only two others have been called up by Denmark in 2021 who didn’t play for a top flight team (Bournemouth’s Billing and Preston’s Riis). All of those 4 had previously played in a too division. Being in the Championship isn’t a bar but Eriksen will want/need to show he’s able to perform at the top of his ability, not just at a lower level.
We had to do that at the end of the August window too right? As long as there’s a space and you haven’t filled all 25 slots a free agent could sign after the window closes.
If Eriksen is just looking for the money, that would be the smart way to do it. Some club somewhere would get desperate and with him being the only available option he’d be able to milk it even more than he could now.
A good question, and I would need to investigate. But I don't think so. Otherwise plenty of PL clubs would have done so beforehand. I think having fewer than 25 players named enables you to sign (say) an emergency keeper. But that's about it
Going back a way now but I remember Shefki Kuqi got signed by Newcastle after the January window closed when they sold Carroll and had no other option cos it was free agent or nothing.
I’m sure the rules have changed long since then so not the most relevant of examples!

If its Newcastle then it wont be for the money I think - at least not primarily. He might think that if they can keep out of the championship this season, they are in for a ride next season with him as the cornerstone (and Saint-Maximin).

True although with Denmark the championship would be viewed as a high enough standard for international football, the bigger nations like England fair enough prefer top flight players but that isn't the norm throughout the international game and we're talking Eriksen here. If he is fit and playing football he'll be selected. If the threat of the championship was a big part of his thinking there is no guarantee with us.

Maybe he is after a longer deal than 6 months that we are offering?
As he has said all along the goal is the world cup in November.
Maybe we offer him 18months with a option of another year we can always add relaxation cause to cover ourselves.

If they are serious then they are a better option for CE I would imagine

On Nana’s “ curry scale” it’s in the balance….
6 months with an option of a further year will be fine. If he’s not performing at a good enough level to warrant another year he’d probably struggle to get in the Denmark squad.

If we were to sign CE it would HUGE for the club and I would be interested to see if our style changes to accommodate him.
for obvious reasons we’ve been far more direct this season then in the last 10 years or so but with Eriksen we would have that player that could allow us to play far more like we did in the Championship.
from his point of view a six month contract with us would surely be of more benefit then taking a big salary with Newcastle, potentially getting relegated and missing out on the World Cup. With us he would play in a team looking up rather than down with the option to sign for big money elsewhere at next season or stay with a club that’s looked after him and clearly progressing.

A lot will depend on his fitness I guess but I see him as a short term upgrade on Jensen.

Once he's up to match fitness he would start every game. At his best he's head and shoulders better than any other player we have! Who plays alongside him in midfield would depend on opponents. Norgaard plus one other probably.

As good as he is (was) coming into the club way we have been playing recently isn't really that attractive. We can't seem to keep the ball long enough. We've been having to play without the ball quite a bit too. CE can't influence our play / style if we as a team can't allow him to. He would boost the team for sure, but I don't think he himself will turn us into a dominating team from the championship.
