I think Conte has a lot of respect left for him because he acted professional, after being left to rot on the bench for 6 months apart from weird subs in the last two minutes in every other game. He eventually found a role for him but Eriksen isn't his type of player.
The open door comment was regarding trainingfacilities I reckon. Or lets hope it was

Mate, I did and I know as much as you regarding likelihood of him signing.
However my point was regarding you agreeing that it might become a sideshow. If and still a big if we were to come to some agreement it would be after extensive medical tests and confidence that he could deliver benefit this season. Our owner doesn’t entertain PR exercises and while the media would obviously be interested in his progress, I doubt there will be additional interviews allowed and the focus as always at BFC will be on the team

I don’t think Eriksen would put his family through the continual worry of what might happen unless his risks were on a par with anyone else playing the game.
That would suggest he is more than healthy enough to play.

That’ll vary by person- there may be an advantage in making the operation simpler and putting it near the surface for someone for whom it doesn’t matter how protected it is. Just as I’m sure the way they’d sort a cruciate would be different for a non-athlete where the key thing is to get you back walking but not to be as robust as a sportsman.

Actually this might be a fair point. We've already been gazumped by Monaco for Vanderson. The closer to the top we get, the tougher it becomes to get the jump on the next big things.
There's a fair argument to be had for furthering the appeal of the club with a big name signing.
Would be very exciting. The only concern would be if he came in for 6 months and took up a place in the side, preventing others from playing and developing for next year. I think we'd need a longer commitment for it to be worthwhile.
It would be nigh impossible to damage a pacemaker or defibrillator through non-life threatening thoracic trauma. After 6 months the risk of lead displacement through trauma is also negligible. The reason for his suffering an alleged cardiac arrest, presumably due to ventricular fibrillation, and exertionally provoked, will be the reason taken into consideration before medically/financially/even legally advising/allowing a return to professional sport, and only he and his medical advisors will know. There may also remain uncertainty about why it happened. If there is strong evidence for a reversible cause then there may be a chance of him playing again.
Agree maybe they would not get the minutes they need. But, being around and watching a top class player will also help with development.mhead bee

I think this is a bit of a myth tbh. Ask Marcus Forss how his development has gone when he hasn't been playing.

For those of us with limited medical knowledge - I've just spoken to my consultant heart guy and he told me Eriksen has a defibrilator NOT a pacemaker, and that it only kicks in when he's actually having a heart attack. He says they're fairly sturdy things, and if CE was his patient he wouldn't object to us signing him - the only problem would be if he chested the ball down and smashed the defibrilator at the same time he had another heart attack. Then there'd be trouble.
*mind you, he's an Arsenal fan and didn't say whether he'd recommend THEM playing him!

I believe CE has a subcutaneous ICD rather than a transvenous ICD. There is a good chance that it’s not even located in the chest and is under the arm. This is how a Boston Scientific S-ICD is fitted:
