No pictures of Norgaard in the training gallery today. I assume that means he will still not be back for Saturday

I'm not so sure, I think these were the "Look, Pontus is back!" photos while the Christian version was a few posts back

He was only running on grass in it so not so sure. But really hope he is back. High quality player.

Still some weeks away according to TF's interview today though he said that's still on schedule.

Bit surprised at that, I thought he said recently that he thought CN would be available for Wycombe, or did I just think that?

You never know with TF, Mads was supposed to be injured before our last game, but played. Not expecting it but it would be a nice surprise if he's on the bench.

I thought we were always expecting CN back early December when he first was injured and I suspect even if CN is close to fitness, TF may believe we have sufficient quality to pick up points in each of our next 4 games without CN. Expect unless there is any setbacks for CN for him to return against Blackburn or Derby at home.

Does anyone know whether Christian will be back in the next week or so? I felt we really missed him today against a strong Blackburn side.

He was talking to the players at the end of the warm-up, then walked off into the stand. Ease him in and give Janelt a rest.

Reckon we could see quite a few games with the two of them in the team. Janelt looks every inch a future international

Didn't TF say in an interview last week CN would be available in 2 weeks, so maybe by Newcastle game if he needs building up to speed?

Frank says he's been training with first team for the last couple of days so can't be too far off.. Will be a much needed boost and fresh pair of legs in midfield!

When he's come back from injury previously it's taken him a few games to get back into the swing. Hope people give him a bit of time reach his previous superb level.

When he got crocked, I remember thinking that he was the one player we could least do without. But then in came Vitaly...and now, his absence seems so less worrisome. Sure TF will ease him back with a couple of sub appearances whereas without the emergence of Janelt, he would have undoubtedly started as soon as he was fit. What an embarrassment of riches we have!

Two combative central midfielders to negotiate our Championship season. Reminds me of the Middlesbrough duo of Adam Clayton and Grant Leadbitter who together helped steer Boro to promotion a few years ago. That is the type of midfield you need when playing two games each week. Not pretty but gets the job done.

But that works in a 4-2-3-1, when you only play one up front... we play 3.

This season should be all about getting a lead and hanging onto it. We need a formation that allows us to do that.

Losing 2 from the attack to choke the midfield is not the way to get a lead, though.

It allowed Middlesbrough to achieve that very outcome so I don't understand the logic of your 'arguement'

Well you can’t drop Janelt or Ivan, so if Christian’s fit that leaves three slots: 4-3-3, 4-2-1-3, pick any number you like, but the others are fighting for those three places.

Jensen, Norgaard, Toney and Janelt are four worthy of selection atm. The others need to up their games

You can "drop" either of them, or as it's called these day "rotate"

Will be a major boost to have back. Probably the best midfielder in the championship.

Expect him to be a sub if not the Watford game but at least the Reading game.

Norgaard is a unique player because not only is he our best defensive midfielder, and overall our best midfielder, but he is one of our best attacking midfielders too. Not in dribbling and shooting, but in dictating play and passing. Norgaard coming back allows us to start Janelt, Norgaard and then have Jensen, Dasilva and Marcondes fight for the final spot. Obviously there will be rotation and Janelt and Norgaard won't start every game together, but still, Norgaard will fit into a slightly more attacking midfield role very easily imo. The type of role Jensen occupies rather than Dasilva/Marcondes who primarily are more driving midfielders.

And Cardiff, West Brom and Fulham at the end of last season amongst many others. sh*te tactic but very effective if done right.

We just need to grind it out if we have to, the pretty stuff always falls flat in the end.

He hasn’t been seen in any training photos yet has he?
Would imagine first step would be a half in a b team game?
Frank said he’s been looking good in training though... maybe he’ll make an appearance in thursday for the Bs against QPR?

TF said he wouldn’t be ready for the Forest game but had looked good training the last few days... can’t be far off

Yes, I remember those two. They were the engine room of that Boro side. Dominated us in all 4 games. If CN and VJ can do that, we will be there or thereabouts.

“Everyone should be available who has been available the last couple of games. Christian is really getting closer but won’t be involved tomorrow. He looked good in training so is getting closer and closer.” - nearly there, but not in time for tomorrow...

Newcastle most likely return, IMO. Longer than first thought, sadly.
