Ah the two posts above save me from asking the question.

I was wondering when the cut off for 5 yellows was

At least it’s Man City. Both huge losses so best that it’s this game

Wow, that's a statement of intent and how much we value him. Safe to say he isn't going anywhere in January (not that we thought he was).

Make no mistake this is incredibly positive news. Christian has been the standout player in our squad this season and the one who was most likely to attract interest from bigger clubs. Real statement of intent, building the team around him.. Perfect start to the New Year!!!

Amazing. Just massive. If he wanted away in the summer he would not be signing that. Standing in a queue in a cafe on a French ski slope when the notification popped up. Couldn’t hold back from a ‘you Bees’. Did get a few funny looks!

Beautiful news. Would have loved to have seen him up against City, I'm sure he would have been class on grass...yet again...

It doesn't mean he will be staying, just protects his value, hope he is, but not definate.
Means he’s at least staying this window as he’d be mad to sign and move, depriving himself of a few million.

Yup - great news.

As you say, the contract protects his value in any future sale for us, but a definite shift in policy there - not cashing in on our best players during their peak years. If he did stay for another 3-4 years, it's unlikely he would go for as much money as he might in a year or two.

Agree we’ve done this in the past to maximise the players transfer value although this happened when we were outside of the Premier League.

Wow that is unexpected, I was thinking he would've probably been sold in the summer.

Great news!

🥱

Come on - give it a rest now. That must be the 3rd or 4th post you've tried to shoehorn this in now.
You’re right. I should have waited until Norgaard misplaced one pass and then it would have been fair game.

Unbelievably good news. I was hoping he didn’t get taken from us this window. Real positive sign that we are doing the right things. He will have increased his salary so we can offer more to incoming players where appropriate

Best January signing ever! It’s getting a £20m player who already knows the club and the way we play, and let’s be honest, an incredible endorsement of Thomas Frank and the project. Could easily have gone to a top 6 club, but instead he chose to stay at a potential one 🐝🐝🐝

Big player for us, great news & big bucks guaranteed if anyone else wants to tempt him away. 👍

Great news!
Not to put too much of a dampener on things, but…….
He might well still be……
But at least on our terms…..

Fantastic signing and great start to the New Year! He has committed to us but if a top 6 club do come in which is still possible the club have protected their investment and put themselves in a strong position.

Having got over the initial joy (slightly). Just thought it surely sends a good message to the rest of our squad about this being the place to be.

He’s good enough to play in any of the top 6 teams in the PL IMO so this is excellent news. However, as some have already said, it doesn’t necessarily mean he wouldn’t leave in the summer, if another team really wanted him, although I expect he has a price tag now of at least 50 million, given he’s tied down with us under a longer contract.

Yes. Would be nice if it encourages others to follow suit.

I think this means he's here for the long term. It would take serious money from a top six club to extract him now and at his age I don't see it happening, which is all the better for us. Well done to all involved for getting this done and more of the same please Christian!

Not certain who it was, it may have been Aaron Ramsdale on Sheffield United turning down a bid from Arsenal in the summer.

The player said that when a club turn down a bid from another club for a player, they generally offer him a new deal. A gesture to say the player is doing well and this new deal is to compensate for us not selling you on (getting a better contract with them and a signing on fee.)

Buzzing to see Christian Norgaard sign a new deal with Brentford - I love him!

Wonder (& wouldn't be surprised) if there were interest in him, or a bid that we rejected and we rewarded him in turn. Happy all round regardless.

😎
