We offered 2 years the same as Birmingham according to reports so i guess they offered him a better weekly wage

Absolutely gutted, great 3 years service he has given us. Will be very weird not seeing him out there next season and more weird playing against us. End of an era.
Replaceable yes but wont see another player like him. Pleasure and joy to watch him the last 3 seasons, a big important piece of the jigsaw in getting us promoted.

So it's not as if BFC didn't know what they were getting when they signed him, then.

Anyhow, the reasons for his signing or leaving a club are less important than what he contributes during his time actually at the club.

And without even knowing what wages he was on at BFC, I would confidently say he gave us as much value-for-money as any other player over the last three years.

Good Luck, Clayton, I hope you've screwed a bundle out of Brum.

Reading the report on Get West London it stated that the bees refused to be drawn into a bidding war after Birmingham made their approach which I fully respect. This also hints that MW and MB might not have been totally convinced of CD at championship level.
I am sure we have better lined up to come in.

If they were "that convinced" they would have got involved in a bidding war and made another improved offer to keep him....which according to the report they didn't.
I am only going by the accuracy of the report though!

Gutted my only hopes are that he's not quite good enough for championship football. Also with him leaving we will have to adapt our style as he was an integral part of how we played. With us having to sign new strikers, this may work in our favour, as it may suit the Championship better. Whether either of these hopes are true. I don't know.

Can understand his move. He was a great servant and key to getting us promoted, will definitely be giving him a round of applause when he returns to Griffin Park. Also to perform how he did after his mum passed away was nothing but highly professional, he'll be missed.

A wonderful player to have had at GP for the past few years. Gave all he had in every game. If he was a prolific goalscorer, which he should've been considering the chances he created for himself and those created for him, then he wouldn't have been at GP at all.

One player the opposition didn't want to see on the team sheet, that's for certain, and one who will cause us problems when we play Birmingham.

Good luck CD, 22nd in the all time list of goalscorers for Brentford FC, in our 125 year history. Not too bad a record.
