Its a shame we couldn't hold on to our best two players from last season but one door closes another opens, the club have brought in new young exciting players , the only way is up!!!!

What other information do we need to be privy to other than Wigan have met Brentford's valuation,not yours or mine and Adam want's to move?

I can assure you it doesn't. Remember, we didn't have to sell, he wasn't out of or nearing the end of his contract so we held the strongest hand. We're selling because Wigan have met our valuation of Adam, not because we've conceded to theirs.

On the assumption our valuation - of a player we didn't *have* to sell - was met, it's almost certainly good business by default.
Forshaw is a great player, but Pritchard for now is a hell of a replacement even if just on loan. A better player based on what I have seen so far. It would have been great to have them both obviously but £2m+ to spend on a replacement should be more than adequate. We are buying players like Jota for £1m, with 2 La Liga teams gutted to lose/miss out on him, and Rosler is struggling to scout further than his old team and their opposition last season. Could be a blessing in disguise in terms of player recruitment.
Overall dissappointed, but strangely excited to see what we do next with the money.

There is no way we would not have got a good fee. We are run by a very successful business man in MB & we have great people at the club now.
I should think Mr Whelan found out pretty quickly that he could not mug us off & had to pay the money we wanted not the money he wanted pay.

Sad to see AF go, but I think that a player of his talent calibre will end up playing in the to flight.
I can say that I was there when he scored that goal, along with the kids, who thoroughly enjoyed it (and the dog pre match rofl)
It also sends out the signal to players that we will nurture their talent and let them leave when clubs come knocking, that meet our valuations.

Gone are the days when we were a supporter owned club,the fee isn't undisclosed to MB and he's the one that runs the club and the fee usually leaks anyway.
heart sank a little when I read the news. Quality, quality player, and he'll be missed. That said, the move was inevitable, it's good to have it sorted sooner rather than later, and I don't begrudge him the move, be it for money or for personal reasons. He was a major factor in getting us where we are today and will certainly be clapped on his return.
shame as I think that he would still be first choice in our side in his position (Alex might end up being a better player but is not ours to keep), and, while we will use the money to improve and strengthen our side, I don't see us as a selling team, or one that needs to break even with transfers just yet (though it would be great for MB if we could).

Shame as rated him highly and the player we should have been building the team around had this not happened.
However, this is the model in action and if taking into account the £4-6m in the sky rocket (depending on who you believe) and we have done very nicely out of this.
I think it is positive for the club and shows that it makes good on it's commitments to the players (current and future) that we can be a shop window for their talents - our success and theirs go hand in hand.

Would be slightly more settled by this news if we had Pritchard permanently, the last thing we'd need would be for him to be recalled a Christmas.
Very sad to see Adam go, one of, if not, the best player I've see at GP, and think we has the potential to go on to big things. I also think we've missed him a little so far this season. I don't blame him for the move though, but hopefully we can be the real victors in this scenario by successfully reinforcing the team in necessary areas and maintaining our impressive progression.

Not at all bothered by AF going to Wigan. Feel we have better options in midfield now anyhow. I do have a feeling he may regret this decision however

I suppose adam is closer to home furnishing wigan's bench than ours. Great servant to the club and a nice guy. Wish him well and will always be thankful for the playoff winning pen against Swindon. Good luck lad.
It was the thought of gravy on his chips and playing in front of Wigan's massive crowds that done it, I hope all that extra cash makes him and his girlfriend very happy ................not bothered.......

Wonder if there's a sell on clause involved? Don't think the Bees will have been ripped off by this and glad this saga has reached it's conclussion. Thanks Adam, it's been great seeing such talent play for the Bees, but no one is bigger than the club and this is one on the up. Not sure if the same can be said anout Wigan?

Would have done well to have a chat with Harry Forrester. Or Simon Moore. Or Karleigh Osborne. Or even Ryan Dickson.
Glad we got we wanted. Would have been gutted to lose him 12 months ago but our midfield is in safe hands with Jota, Pritchard, Judge, etc. Shame to see him go, he could have and should have done much better but that's football. At least he hasn't gone to one of our promotion rivals.

I genuinely don't believe he was looking to leave but once the bid came in clearly his head was turned and this was the inevitable outcome.
Will always be remembered as one of the best players I ever saw play for us, those quick hips to turn away from players was a joy to watch. His goal away at Crewe will live long in the memory.

My thoughts exactly.
Technically very gifted but I'm not sure he was ever that penetrative. Too often went sideways or slowed the attack down while looking for options. Didn't someone post earlier that our record last year was just as good without him as with him ?
Probably not best suited to the higher tempo style we seem to be developing this season.

Bearing in mind Wigans two previous bids were 1.6m & 1.8m, I think it is extremely unlikely we will get more than 3.5m probably more like 2.5-3m.
Remember, what the club would be willing to think of as acceptable may have fallen in the events of the past few weeks and Adams' apparent want away approach.
I'll never forget his performance at Crewe when he was light years ahead of everyone on the pitch in terms of seeing everything unfold. His goal was almost as though he was bored and thought sod it I might as well bang one in instead of all this farting around.

I wonder whether warbs will strengthen further now although I think jota was bought as they knew Forshaw would go and they were playing bluff with Wigan ref back in first team training etc. Warbs has said he wants another defender but he won't just get someone in as cover but someone who can push for a first team place. In midfield we really are well covered unless a young more defensive minded but still forward thinking midfielder available that he thinks would be a good investment . Up front given we will generally only play one up to we are also well covered unless Warbs knows of a young starlet that's available on same basis.
