Almost imaginative, some of these excuses for racism. A guy allows himself to be in a racist video and suddenly it’s all about his rights, not my right not to be showered with this sh*t. Away with you all, scumbags.

That’s EXACTLY what I said in my post...being a member (not that the club would have access to every individual’s memberships of other organisations) would not constitute any reaction or action from the club but if you are filmed using racist language (or anything else the club rightly condemn)you will be banned.

Earlier this week it came to our attention that a video was posted on social media that showed a Brentford fan using extremely offensive language, which included a racist comment. The Club conducted a swift investigation to gather as much information on the event and the individual concerned.

The Club conducted a swift investigation to gather as much information on the event and the individual concerned. This included a meeting with him today – Thursday 17 September – where the Club were represented by Club Director Nity Raj and Club Ambassador Marcus Gayle, among others.
Going to be an awkward chat with Marcus , considering there is a photo of the two of them together....
Anyway we’ll done to the club for also going down the route of education/rehabilitation rather than punishment only. Hopefully he’ll be allowed back in after 3 years
as a sidenote, does that mean if I drop the N bomb will I be allowed an audience with one of my idols?

Despite what you read, the Editors of TITS were never banned. Nor were they banned from selling the fanzine. The club withdrew co-operation (in the form of providing players for interviews) for about 3(?) months (which was over the closed-season) and also until they attended a Kick-It-Out session.
The club never published the outcome which consequently let TITS control the narrative.
Anyway, this thread isn't about that.

Well I do only use it for a handful of games a season last time I used last seasons was for Luton and that was only due to me seeing big country in the eveningWhy? Looking for a loophole to get back your ST money?

Say we get to a position where we can fill LR to capacity and this chap rocks up with a ticket bought by a mate and a face mask on. How could he possibly be identified?

It's about education, exposure and interaction – 3 years (after fans are allowed back normally, so that may be 4) should be sufficient to enable those things to happen. If there's no change after that, then the person is not a rounded human being.

I personally think the club have handled this really well and responded swiftly. Only slightly disagree with reviewing it after 3 years but hope the person in question can be educated and change. Let’s see.
I have read the crap above by the impact of social media etc and it’s bullshit. This has got nothing to do with a social media mob. The evidence was clear for everyone. This is a completely different case to the Brentford supporter that was banned for a short time after the Derby home game a couple of years back when they was no evidence. Thankfully his ban was lifted and hopefully got his life back on track.
The most revealing aspect is the complete silence on this thread of those GPG posters whom know this person well. If I had a mate that did what he did I would call him out.
Anyone said my bit and no sure there is any merit in keeping this thread open now. It’s done and dusted.

Yes agree the club have handled it well.With regard to fans who know him,like I have for over 30 years and his dad for about 50 along with I expect hundreds of others maybe we will have our say on it Face to face and not behind a keyboard.

There are a lot of people who’d have thought nothing of using N***** or other discriminatory and offensive epithets back in the 80s and 90s who know now that it isn’t polite. Their underlying attitudes mightn’t have changed but their public behaviour will have.

My Dad cursed Germans at every opportunity (I recently discovered why but that's another story). My young sister had a German pen-friend and invited her over; my Dad was adamant that she wouldn't be allowed in the house if she arrived; Mum persuaded him on the basis that he did not have to talk to her. After the first day with a very polite young girl in the house, who smiled a lot and spoke half-decent English, all became quite normal and ordinary – she was clearly not the monster that he believed all Germans to be. My Mum told us much later that he really regretted his views.
This was from a man who I witnessed as a small boy, sitting in the pub with my bag of crisps, grab a man by the throat at the bar and force him to apologise to a West Indian saying "this man is a better man than you will ever be". Both these things made a lasting impression on me.

I think the club have handled this superby, TBH, and got it absolutely spot-on.
I'm not quite sure I agree with the sentiment that you can't change attitudes etc through education, otherwise we may as well all give up hope now.
It would be good to know a bit more about what the 'course' entails.
It's clear from various other social media accounts that, as with other areas of society, there is a growing problem with far-right views among a subset of fans at Brentford which needs addressing.

I don't agree. I think people's views can and do change, at least in my experience. The point is that there are such varying degrees of racism that exist in our society. The deep-rooted racists who truly believe in white supremacy, through to those who are mildly racist and will say the most stupid things in the wrong circumstances.

That’s a fair point. I hope his mates have said this to him in the past to change his attitude and views about a certain race group and not because his views were caught on camera.
I sincerely hope he can change and see the merits of diversity in life rather than have a single narrow minded view.

I'd agree that BFC have handled this well. There is the 'stick' of the ban and the 'carrot' of the review.
Whether an individual changes is down to them. If they continue to be exposed to what caused their attitude they will retain it. Having their perceptions 'challenged' by friends and associates will be far more effective than any 'policy' put forward by an organisation. As has been pointed out, an individual can simply choose not to exhibit behaviour that will earn them a sanction from others, it won't change their views.
An organisation having an 'anti racist' policy (I'd think of it more as a non racist policy) will at least demonstrate to others that racism isn't acceptable; subsequent generations will therefore be less likely to see racist attitudes as the norm as it was in the past.
To me BFC getting involved is perfectly understandable. Football is a business unlike many others in that you can be certain that there would be people quick to associate someone with a football club in a way that you wouldn't expect to see for example with a business such as 'Apple'. Even more so with BFC who have been trying to develop their image of an all inclusive, community club.
