No one changes these views.
It is highly naive to think otherwise.
Cant agree with that Mysteron.

I dont think the human race is as low as that. I bet there are loads of people whos views have changed with time and education. No one is born a racist.

Sorry you were feeling bleak. Hopefully this will help. There is a bit of evidence that if someone changes their behaviour it can influence their attitudes. This paper here covers it https://opentextbc.ca/socialpsychology/chapter/changing-attitudes-by-changing-behavior/

But even if it doesn’t work stopping the behaviour is of benefit to others so still worth the effort in my opinion.

I bet most people on here asking for life ban are those who are happy to give second chances to any other criminal.
Great insight. Up there with "it must be a set up".
I do wonder what exactly leads you to believe the people wanting a racist banned from the club (after how many chances?), also want to give "criminals" a second chance 🤔

Not sure if you’ve read the whole thread ... but to me it looks like the majority of posters are happy that the club has given him a 2nd chance via the route of education.
That’s good then . I just saw quite a few life ban type posts which gives no chance of redemption and no target.

Just the arguments there have been on here in the past that defend the the indefensible. The mood being one of everyone deserving second chances. The Headhunters in the documentary didn’t even get a lifetime ban to start with .

Bottom line is he's got a second chance from the club which is more than reasonable and some might say even lucky.

He was stupid to do what he did, hopefully he learns that there's a line you don't cross with your thoughts and behaviour, and he'll come back a better person for it.

I couldn't care a less about him wanting to come across as some sort of geezer and all that nonsense, but he definitely crossed a line with the N comment, regardless of it being aimed at a Rara chap, and is going to have to serve his ban and learn the hard way by having something taken away which is obviously close to his heart Iike all of us.

Yes, the fan in question was toast even before it got on Twitter so arguments about a set up don't really fly. I don't think he'll ever see a Brentford match ever again.
Bit like you ever working for bfc again

I doubt your post will last long but if you think ‘n****r’ is a descriptive word, you’re a ****.

57 other people have posted in this thread. I think you'd better start explaining who you're NOT accusing because they might be a bit pissed off with the association to your post. Or you could simply ask me to delete the post (probably will anyway).

Comparing bad things is never healthy, there is usually a line which moves as culture evolves. If you do things that are widely understood to be below the line then there are consequences that are also widely understood

Personally I would have been inclined to just leave this thread alone rather than resurrecting after one month. I think enough had been said already, best to just move on.....
You’d have thought so wouldn’t you?

However, someone related to the incident decided to open it back up again. Oddly.

Descriptive word? Sounds like you could do with undertaking the same awareness and education programme.

Young? Not sure this is in relation to the same incident is it?
No, I don't believe it is but it's the fact of "education rather than prosecution" from our OB, that may be at the club's instigation.

It's Kick It Out's policy I believe. They are very biased towards attempting to educate rather than punish. I don't know how long that rope is however.

The old long rope policy always seems more humane. Some people expect it to be endless.

Fancy elaborating on that? What a **** post.

Think you need to have a good think about what you posted.

As for the short sighted people on here, I don't think you have to look that far past your own key board. I would be embarrassed with that post.

Named and shamed.

Brentford FC is aware of the sentence handed out to a Steven Green for his use of a racist comment in a video published on social media. Brentford FC has already issued a life ban to this individual, removed his Season Ticket for our new stadium and told him he cannot watch any of our teams play at any venue.

We initially chose not to name the person banned but with his name now in the public domain after the court case and media coverage we can confirm the ban was issued to Mr Green.

Green, who represented himself in court, admitted the words he used were “distasteful” and “inappropriate” and said it was “a slip of the tongue”.
The father of two was ordered to pay a fine of £400 and further costs totalling £125 by February 1.
Brentford have set themselves the target of becoming the most inclusive club in the country, and already possess one of the most diverse workforces of any English professional club.

Haven’t seen it but for those tempted to complain about the club taking action against fans, the fact that the Times did a 2000 word report on this when we won’t get 2000 words for tomorrow's game says why.

The story was released by the Press Association. It's in dozens of news outlets. They also named one of two others suspended at Christmas. This if true is not good....

"PA has also seen a photograph of stickers which depict holocaust victim Anne Frank mocked up in a Fulham shirt, which it is believed were intended for distribution before the west London rivals’ scheduled meeting in March last year prior to the first coronavirus lockdown.

Similar Anne Frank stickers distributed by fans of Lazio led to the Italian club being fined 50,000 euros in January 2018.

Sources among the fanbase have expressed concern that older fans are effectively grooming a “ready-made army” of young hooligans."
