Club Update on 2021/22 Season Tickets and Memberships

Sorry, I'm confused over this (easily done!).

What do you mean by "promotion proofed"? That we are guaranteed still to retain our seats if promoted? Or that we will retain our seats and at the original price?

For I had thought that when we originally bought our ST's, we were told the price would increase by 25% should we get promoted.

But the club update you linked to says (my bold):
"The Club is giving all Season Ticket Holders the option to ‘freeze’ their 2020/21 ticket and defer it to the 2021/22 season. Under this scenario, supporters will keep their seat and secure the same price for next season regardless of our league status. Those choosing this option will remain as Season Ticket Holders and full benefits will be retained."


How does that tie-in with the extract from the update quoted above?

Premium seats are a law unto themselves but a premium seat holder I know told me that he is certain is going to be paying this increase - £125 per month instead of £99 per month (don't tell me that's not a 25% increase, we've got enough on our plates here).
Is it possible the 25% figure has been lifted either from some publicity relating to premium seats? Or, a part of publicity for 2020/21 new stadium season tickets before/whilst we spent a year indoors?

Thank you for that explanation - I think your last paragraph was what I had in mind, with the Premium ST increase further muddying the waters.

There will be, the club didn't want to confuse things with the purchasing of playoff tickets going on.

I read somewhere it was about 900 new applications.

My understanding of the situation for frozen STs is that apart from premium ones every other ST will be at nil cost for 21-22. If you went to the Blackburn or Derby games you’ll need to pay for those tickets by June 30th (and I think in the unlikely event people don’t it might mean the frozen ST becomes a part paid one after that so a 21-22 one will cost quite a bit more than the price of the unpaid Blackburn/Derby ticket). Those who took a full or partial refund are guaranteed the chance to buy a 21-22 ST for their reserved seat but at the full 21-22 price including whatever increase is applied (25% on top of the non-earlybird 20-21 price for that seat?) less the amount they didn’t want refunded. I think that results in option 2 folks paying about the same as the 20-21 price in cash now on top of the amount they didn’t ask to be refunded.

Yes, I have something similar. I have an entry for the season ticket I bought last season for £399 and an entry for a season ticket for 21/22 season for £449. I've assumed that this is the club rolling last season's ticket over. I've figured that the price difference is because that's the price a ticket might cost for the coming season if I were buying now?

I've actually heard back from the club. They've decided to freeze age tariffs so for this season only I'm an adult and my son is still a junior. Don't know if I come out ahead on this transaction, but I reckon I've come out ahead over the last season in any case.

It's normally end of July but I imagine the club will want to know the access requirements for the new season before they are issued.

I'd say easily, but we won't know all the details until the publish a further update after the fixtures are out. We don't even know if memberships will be restricted in numbers though, but having any TAP's would put you ahead of the pile compared to any 'neutrals' who may try and come along.

If I understand your question correctly, surely the club will sell as many Memberships as they can, since basically your £30(?) Membership Fee entitles* you to apply for a ticket, but doesn't guarantee one.

So that if eg we have 16k home seats available and 10k ST Holders, then the remaining 6k will be offered to Members. And if more than 6k members want to buy, then I imagine priority will go to TAP's. But if fewer than 6k apply, then the remainder will go on General Sale (possibly to people already with a ticket purchase history or on the database.)

That's pretty much how other teams do it and if so, then your 1,500 TAP's should see you nearer the front of the Membership queue than the back.

As a note, I rang the club about changing seat (I'm right up the back of the West Stand and wanted to move forward) and was told there won't be any seat changes until the end of the upcoming season. Maybe the position on that will change once people know what their seats are like, but I didn't ask.

We did ask for that way back in 2019 when planning for the new ground. I imagine being in the Premier League will make this more difficult and unlikely

No you don't need to do anything, assuming you mean you didn't even apply for a ticket to Blackburn/Derby rather than just not going

Highly unlikely given the numbers of ST sold and likelihood of every game being a sell out next season so you'll probably have to grin and bear it for a season - not been yet but would surprise me if any seats have a poor view.

No...I think they need to work out who is attending how many games this season first. If someone only attends 5 games on their season ticket this season (Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham for instance) then their seat should be re-offered elsewhere IMO. Some may disagree with that, but we need proper fans in who will go most weeks.

Also the vast majority of our income will be from the TV deal now, I don't think the club have a desperate need to take this money in advance.

Maybe. But the club are being handed the first in a series of huge PL TV money cheques this summer, I would hope asking the fans to hand over even more is not top of their to-do list at the moment! Particularly if that is a PL price and so circa 25% higher than what many of us have already spent for this coming season.

No decision has been made as to whether they will sell additional tickets.

As things stand membership and adhoc purchases is your only option.
