Would've liked Coppell here as DoF. Shame.

What's wrong with MW? As respected as Coppell is, having an ex manager return 10 odd years later as DoF sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Er.... Nothing that I can think of.

I would've chosen Coppell as DoF before MW arrived on the scene.

Is this better? :grey:

Couldn't this have gone in the Steve Coppell thread.

If we needed a manager I'd love him back. But we don't. Strange move for him to go to Crawley. Didn't think he was the mercinary type.

Is this why Evans left, wouldn't work under SC?

Rotherham have more money to waste next season than Crawley, so I am not so sure..

do they ?

yeah but Crawley are in a much better position currently,if it works our for them,he'll look alot better with his short impact and taking them into league 1

Steve Evans left Crawley because they've been selling their key players.
Which makes it a little bizarre to see Steve Coppell make an appearance at such a small club.

Is it not more to do with Evans living in Peterborough and being fed up with the commute

As I have said before, Steve Coppell is a Steve Coppell manager - not a football manager. He will enhance his reputation again at Crawley, a club where a hatstand would be successul. Such a clever man and I mean that in a nice way - good luck to him  :sorted:.

Err, it's 94 miles from Peterboro to Rotherham, so I don't think so. There's a lot more smallish clubs closer to him.
Coppell supposedly applied for the manager's job at Pompey (that's what Meridian News said at the time) and is now at Crawley.
Weird Steve Coppell. Might as well have put in for the England manager's job.

Saw his interview on Sky this morning amonst other things he said that he'd just got back from Sweden and saw that Evans had left and phoned the club to see if he could help out:confused:If only he had done the same when we sacked Scott:sad:

His season in control remains one of the most enjoyable in my years. Nothing but best wishes for the fella.

job.

So your telling me you would prefer the commute from Peterborough to Crawley around the M25 rather than from Peterborough to Rotherham

I thought it was strange he wasn't holding the fort instead of that mug Alexander. Isn't a director of football supposed to offer stability when a manager is sacked not leave himself!?

Been waiting for this to happen.

Turn of the year will be interesting as the cash flow slows up.

I can see Crawley imploding and plummeting. Can't say I'll be sorry, still see both them and Stevenage as non league in all but league status.

Steve Coppell in 'Coppell Quits' shock...

Crawley Town in '****ed finances' shock...

On the same day as...

Tom Daley in 'relationship with man' shock.

Wow. What a shocking day. Or not possibly.
