The club is skint and want their better paid players off the wage roll, if you can also make a small profit all the better. The management requested the members to vote to sell.

I think their membership renewal (a major source of their income) has come up in the meantime, and the take up hasn't been good, therefore, no, they didn't know 3 months ago - although they probably should have done...

do we get anything from this?

There is a sell on payment but we have not yet established how Charles was valued in the deal. We sold for £15k in stage payments so even if the current transfer is a 50/50 split (i.e. DC is valued at £40k) any sell on will be welcome but modest.

There were actually three players involved in the deal.

Would I be a tad cynical to suggest that the values of the players may be arranged to minimise the flow of cash back out of the club

There were 2 players involved as the third was out of contract and over 24 years old. They recieved £80K, York had previously offered £30K for Gash which was turned down and also both players have sell on clauses of similar values to their previous clubs although Gash cost them more to buy.

I think his partner is expecting a child and he didn't fancy moving so far North.

I hope this is good news for us.

Ebbsfleet are desperate to get him off the wagebill and I expect that he will move on within the next month or less.

If he is sold on his own then maybe he will be valued at around 30-40K which will mean that we pick up some level of sell-on fee.

..................he was told that he would be playing at the New York Stadium............... ......................
Rather spookily, I will be walking down Bootham Terrace, opposite the Crescent, on Saturday/early hours of Sunday morning. I've been invited to a piss up in a brewery - The York Brewery, Micklegate!

Don't think it will make a big difference, but think it will probably reduce our share. Ebbsfleet are desperate to get him off the books and collect a fee of some sort, and if he'll only move to SE clubs, the potential market is reduced

Or maybe Allen has high regard for him having given him his first pro contract.
Although not sure any of these clubs would want to pay any fee as they all have financial restraints like Ebbsfleet have.

He has recently moved into the next road down from me in Twickenham so I guess he would want a move from Ebbsfleet this summer.

I still think he could do a job in the Football League. Not too sure if his best position is centre half or left back though.

Hope he gets a chance. Maybe Orient or even Barnet

It was a shot that took about five deflections.

The winner in the 4-3 on the penultimate weekend of the disasterous 06/07 season against Port Vale IIRC.

Wonder if the two clubs agreed a fee or if it went to a tribunal?

No mention of anything on either club's websites.

There was a 10% sell-on clause when he originally joined Ebbsfleet, so unlikely to have brought much, if anything.

Stonking goal against Reading today. Not enough to earn a replay though.

Graham Westley is a very under rated manager... our board would never have the balls to bring in Westley.... he's not liked.. he does a bloody good job... worked under Perryman here before.

Wasn't he a full back with us ? I always thought he had good potential but had limited opportunities with us.

Yes. he finished up at left back last night. Think he was used as a emergency striker by Westley at some point in the season and it worked so they stuck with it

Not suprised to see him upfront if im honest.
when i used to watch our youth games, Darius would normally play left back or centre back but was a threat upfront from set pieces and would occasionally play up top

Well done Darius. Sky's Man-of-the-Match for Stevenage in the League 2 Play-Off at home to Accrington Stanley. What a striker he is. Hit the woodwork, made the 2nd goal and then went back to left back when called upon late on. And he's still built like a brick outhouse.
