I am confused. That story doesn't mention anybody other than Raya!
It says "The Bees plan to look at Charlton’s Dillon Phillips as a replacement."

I understand the sequence of words but it does not really mean anything, does it? I'm sure we already have a scouted list of potential players to fill each position over the next 12 months, why would we plan to look at a player, either he's on the list or he's not?

Charlton fit in the category where you msy be able to get their players for cheaper than normal (again). Raya will likely be off...

Alan Nixon

Will they really go "as high as £10m". We've already rejected that, no?

If we get Phillips in, I’ll be more relaxed about the prospect of Raya leaving. Would still leave us weaker, though, IMO.

Maybe...but if Arsenal offer £10m for your keeper can you really say no? The 'Brentford Project' works as long as players know you are aiding their careers. This may be one where we're slightly weaker next season, but that's why we should have taken the chance last season and unfortunately couldn't.

I thought this guy was one of the better keepers in last years Championship, not to sure he would come if he was not going to be first choice

Very good shot stopper

I know Charlton can’t buy in players but not sure about selling players

Is he a "sweeper keeper"?
I think he could well be. He’s certainly a very good keeper his reactions are top notch. I’ve been very impressed whenever I’ve seen him play. There’s a couple of decent bits on YouTube if anyone is interested.

They have already had a 10m bid rejected...

That’ll definitely be a kick

If they offer £15m. Job done. I’ll personally drive him over there.

I ment to say. That would definitely be a kick in the teeth for Luke Daniels. He knows that he’s a number 2, but such a nice chap.

One of a few articles that suggest he is on his way out of Charlton. Not in their match day squad yesterday either. Goes on a free next year, would make sense that Charlton may sell if an offer comes in

Open up the above article makes interesting reading and with our situation over Raya you can understand the rumour

From an ex Charlton Season Ticket Holder
Yea you can have him not even making the team
Does not like saving on his left hand side

Blackburn fans were glad to be rid of Raya. There always seems to a weakness to players who look to be leaving a club. But then Raya was one of the best goalkeepers in the division last season.

He was not given the no1 jersey because he would not sign a new contract, voted player of the season

Bare in mind, the phrase "no dickhead policy" always pops up regarding potential recruits.

Charlton away last season sticks out, taken off the match thread;

What a clown their keeper was in the end, facing up our fans. He's lucky it's not 30 years ago!

I agree, fat c**t who deserved a slap for being so brave after the game when he’d received no grief at all.
At GP, he wasn't quick to distribute. Taking as long as he could to slow the game down, albeit to disrupt the flow of our game, definitely grated on me though. Not sure if his game is similar to Raya's.

A good goalkeeper, maybe one of those characters you'd like in your team, but not so keen on as an opposing player. On the face of it, I'd be OK with him if Raya did go. Good shot stopper and good in the air. Charlton slowed the game down, no idea what his distribution was like.

I think that’s more gamesmanship than being a dick head.
We came a long way having a leader like Pontus around last season.
we need more of those.

If we sign him, and we are winning, I hope he does that for us.

Instructions from his manager Bowyer to time waste
Every keeper does it, when their team is winning by the odd goal with a few minutes to go.
Some take it to the extreme and start time wasting with only a few minutes gone.

The speed of distribution although irritating, wasn't why I thought he was a dick. That was to disrupt the flow of our game & stop us building a head of steam. Especially as they were facing an uphill task against us.

I meant that his reluctance to release the ball quickly as a possible reason for why he may not suit what we want in a goalkeeper. Ie a bit hesitant or on the back foot with the ball in hand/at his feet, where as David Raya is quick to release and get us on the attack. It may have been that he was just playing to the circumstances for his/his teams advantage, I've only seen him play twice.

He was also in the Championship team of the season wasn't he, which bearing in mind they were relegated, is some feat?

The analysis of 'keepers can be skewed dramatically by the quality of the defending in front of them. He may have made the most 'certain goal' saves but, if he had the most shots at him per game, it may just mean he got a lot of practice. We had games where Raya had zero saves from on-target attempts, that doesn't make him bad.

Lee Bowyer says he is not aware of any interest from Brentford in goalkeeper Dillon Phillips.

That's because we're only "planning to look" according to the origin of the 'news' in The Sun?
