Dug out bar entry after game

When we purchased season ticket we were told that entry would be given access to this facility after the game which is not being given as people are told by the stewards that once you leave the ground re entry was not allowed .can someone please tell me that there has been a change in procedure and we haven’t been told .friends are coming from north stand and can’t get entry ????

I did it after the West Ham game and we had to sweet talk the stewards to let me in.

Spoke to JV about it and he basically said that it would be so full on League matches that you won't be able to get in anyway.

I will raise it though as there is no reason why they can't count people in and out.

@hobbsy, thank you for raising this on behalf of us all. (JV response seemed inappropriately dismissive ?). Could you consider whether you could also raise whether they might introduce a feedback system to enable us to rate the various food offerings (and make suggestions). Sounds like the samosas are fab, but eg the £5 North Stand Chicken Burger is basically inedible, and should not be being sold by a reputable club. There needs to be some serious quality control introduced (In my view).

Meet the man and I suspect you’d feel differently my friend, I like him and find him very honest on the couple of occasions I’ve had reasons to deal with him. He responded to constructive feedback I sent him quickly and professionally with a considered and plausible answer as well as a commitment to address the issues raised.

he’s obviously a real fan that comes across when you meet him in the person and I think if he was 100% honest and wanted to find excuses he’d be entitled to claim it was the legacy of Devlin and Kurt and he’s having to fix a mess but in fairness to me he’s always come across as professional and assumed accountability.

Time will tell and we’ll see but I don’t think he’s had it easy as know the ticket office was hit by track and trace and a lot of people had to self isolate at a time when we didn’t need that happening and unlike other companies no contingency as everything was so new and the ticket system being what it was!

I would just say cut him some slack for now and judge him later in the season and not lay the ticketing fiasco at his door although it’s definitely his problem to quickly fix?

There were plenty of fans you know in the bar after the game who sit in the North Stand so what are you on about?

Doesn’t necessarily work if you sit in the dugout but remain there for a few minutes after the match eg to point out helpfully to Arteta that “they’re going down with the Palace”

One of my main issues is its not like this is all new to us? Especially with the new ground and ticketing.

There wasn’t any problem getting in on Friday apart from having to wait for people to leave first. I hadn’t gone very early, probably 10-15 mins after leaving West Stand after the end of the lap of honour and Hey Jude, but got inside to wait for the dugout to clear of those going home. The lad I was chatting to in the queue wasn’t even an ST and had just tailgated in when the guy in front was showing his ST. So it was hardly a case of officious guards barking “Fahrschein bitte!”

They did start to hold a queue outside a bit later. I stayed for a pint and samosas and it didn’t fill out to be too busy to find a seat so I don’t know whether that was because they were turning people away or just that there wasn’t a big queue.

Talking to the supervisor going in it sounds like there is another entry they might open up in future which would allow people to get in without battling those leaving but they wanted to see how it worked with a single entrance/exit. I was pleasantly surprised at it not being too hard to get in but it might be a different matter for an earlier kick off. I can imagine it would be a brilliant place to watch the results and 5.30 kick off game after our matches.

Mate, I’m of the mind we are Premier League on the pitch as was clear to see on Friday but we’re non league in many areas off it.
It’s been going on for years and many of us have become accustomed as “It’s Brentford innit” but that doesn’t mean it should be accepted or tolerated.
I have seen plenty of great stuff that reflects brilliantly on the club with the comms and PR (Woody goal celebration for example) but some of the processes and specifically the ticketing process is atrocious and in many cases a dreadful customer experience.
As I said before I trust JV is on it and addressing but it is a hell of a legacy he inherited by all accounts.

It was quicker and easier getting in to the dugout than getting into the Griffin after a win at GP in front of 8000 fans. And the Peroni was cheaper (£6 in dugout I think, £6.20 when I went on to the Griffin an hour later). While it looks quite industrial the lighting is nice and makes it feel quite warm and inviting.

They’re never going to fit in all STs but I’d expect in the future it’ll be easy to work out if the queue is worth joining or it’d be better to go on somewhere else. I was also surprised that the Express wasn’t too heaving as I passed. An advantage of having other large pubs like One over the Ait near and lots also heading back to old haunts in Brentford. Though as I said, might well be different at 5pm rather than 10pm when non-local fans will need to head off to catch late trains soon after the end.

I read that the club were happy to give entry to fans as long as the dugout was not full. If it was full then you could not come in. But you can always take my place, asi spent most of my time looking for somewhere to park, an effing nightmare that was Friday evening. I don't get the lanyards either, they might be a temporary thing as for access to some seats one has to leave the dugout because of the red zone. On the way back in they can decide who can come in by whom is wearing a lanyard. However I was still asked to show my ticket - so what's the point of the lanyard exactly?

It seems to me that it would surely help to have some form of segregation so that fans exiting from the North and West Stands would be on one side of a temporary barrier and those from the South Stand heading towards the station would be on the other side. I didn’t time it but I’d guess it took us over 15 minutes from exiting the North Stand to reach the Dugout entrance.

No worries. I drove down from Leeds so feel your pain. I was staying overnight and thought I had the parking sorted at the Holiday Inn (v reasonable £60 for the night, less reasonable £14 parking). Unfortunately they had a wedding on and their car park was full so after 5 hours in the car (blighters around Sheffield and Nottingham seem to knock off very early on a Friday!) I had to go and find a walkable alternative.

If you’re forced onto the M3 route it might be worth parking at Richmond station which is pretty big but not cheap. 65 bus to the ground and back would probably get you on the road well after the match.

That fire engine was probably there because one of the fire alarms triggered. We went to use a lift in the South stand and they were all stopped by the alarm.

Am I right in assuming that we were unable to stage a proper test event because of the Covid locknown ? If so then Friday's game could be an ideal situation to use the game as one. Clearly there are going to be lots of teething problems that are only just coming to light and the on going building works are not making access any easier at the moment. I was due to meet up with a mate in the Cricketers on Kew Green. He was in the West stand next to the North but his block all got shepherded out on to the A4 with no way back and ended up in the New Inn.

Yep, definitely some lighting required along there. Dare say there are some street lamps or such like to be added once the flats are completed or when the scaffold is struck but probably needs something temporary in the interim as I also saw at 2 people almost go arse over t*t too.
