We did what we needed to do, some great football and goals to make it an entertaining evening. However, very difficult to draw any meaningful conclusions on individual performances because of the poor opposition. Pleased for Forss and Wissa but let's be honest playing Oldham will be world's apart from any team they could face in the prem. When it got to 5 nil I found myself feeling sorry for Oldham, guess I was comparing where we have been in the past and thinking it could have been us if it were not for one Mr Benham.

However, onwards and upwards hope we get another home draw against lowly opposition, one stop nearer Wembley.

Regardless of who we draw it will definitely be a step up for our fringe players, no league two teams remaining and only one league one (assuming afc Wimbledon lose to arsenal tonight) so chances are will be a prem or championship team.

Too true but still an impressive performance. When did we ever beat a team 7-0 and have over 100M worth of players sitting on the bench ?

Great night. Amazing performance with eleven changes. All eleven were superb, Thompson, Jenson, Onyeka, Fosu especially. Great view in the West stand. Are we in the last 16 now? Is the draw tonight? On Sky?

Amazing that we've exceeded FGR. I thought that most of the people interested in the new stadium would have been at that fixture. To have more people than Griffin Park held in the following round is discombobulating
Great to see so many BAME and female supporters, far more than you would normally see at a league game - hope they come again.

I hate the BAME acronym but like how much more diverse our support is these days. And it’s not just at home cup games with casual/first time attendees. Wolves away had a very different composition to when some years back my then wife commented how pale, male, fat and unhealthy most of the fans around us were.

A truly wonderful ‘meaningful’ game under lights. Throughly enjoyed the entertainment on offer for £10. Mind you had to explain and manage the expectations of my daughter that we don’t always win 7-0.

....took a female ex work colleague to E115... she's fae fife....knows her football...been in many football grounds....she was gobsmacked by 'light and sound' show pre match....loved the stadium...said it was the 'greenest' pitch she'd ever seen.....loved the Oldham joy division supporters.....and thought Marcus Forss was hot.....she'll be back.

Three things I take from last night:

1/ We have the strongest squad we have ever had by some distance. Last night's team would be pretty competitive in the Championship I reckon
2/ While you would be very confident almost all of last night's team could step up if needed during the season, only Frank and perhaps Wissa are really pushing for a regular place.
3/ We should thanks our lucky stars everyday we are a brilliantly owned and run club!! Oldham fans were great but how bad must it be to be in their position!? :(

And seven full internationals starting!
Think it was 8 actually;
Fernández
Zanka
Onyeka
Jensen
Ghoddos
Wissa
Fosu
Forrs

Crazy to think that team had 11 changes from the weekend. At times it takes me a second to realise just how far we've come.

You’re right, I completely forgot Fernandez had got a full Spanish cap (though covid assisted!). And we’re not with the others talking about poor level sides either but all ones that regularly qualify for the Finals of international competitions.

A few Oldham have complained about heavy handed stewarding during the match but this from their message board helps with the context:
“I don’t think I have ever seen such a clueless and weak Oldham team, it really was quite embarrassing to watch.
great support as you say but a few couldn’t keep control of their emotions and pretty much picked a fight with the stewards when a few young Brentford fans jeered at us when the 5th goal went in, all pretty stupid.”

Had a nice little family next to me. Mum, Dad and a little girl about 7. All thoroughly enjoying the evening although I had suspicions her Teddy Bear might have been a Rara. Didn't like the look of him at all.

Very true, good point, very positive when comparing where we have come from. It is all tempered imo that Oldham were the poorest opposition I have seen us play for some time, and that 2 of our players were playing at the Euros, I would have expected a comfortable win albeit maybe not 7-0. Obviously very pleased with the win and the night overall, just trying to provide some balance.

Oldham fans complaining on twitter they were searched on entry and had protest banners confiscated and were made to turn inside out t shirts with slogans protesting their owner.
Shame on the stewards if this is true. We need to stand side by side with supporters who’s club are being driven into possible extinction by greedy or incompetent owners. We’ve been there with W£bb and Noad£s

The draw for round four will take place live on Sky Sports, following the tie between Manchester United and West Ham United.

Spot on - I was saying exactly the same to my son. The diversity of the crowd last night was a complete joy to behold! :bounce:

To be honest I am completely disappointed that it wasn’t 8-0. I explicitly called down to Thomas that I wanted 8 after we went 2-0 up early. It really spoilt my overall meal of samosas and London Pride. I shall not be giving a tip!
Was it too much to ask the team to set a new record by beating the 9-0 v Wrexham?

Wissa also Won the penalty for our opener & made Forss second with a delightful curling effort which struck the Post for a Marcus tap in. Occasionally made the wrong decision but overall looked pacey, direct & a handful. Certainly not poor.
I'd call it rusty rather than poor. (hopefully)

I noticed a Scottish blue Bees flag in the West Stand last night.
Yeah, that’s mine. It was my late twin brother’s - he used to live in St Monans, in the East Neuk of Fife.

By a coincidence, Jack Wilson (the assistance First Team Performance Analyst) come from St Monans.

Robert Rowan was from Kirkcaldy.

I know it's not Fife, but my late Mum was a Fawkirk girl. Last went up there about 2 1/2 years ago for the Funeral of the last but one member of that generation. Still a bit of a dump in places but my Mum's family are very nice people.

As you might imagine (and probably read on here previously!) Falkirk are my Scottish club. Went to Brockville a few times over the years, but not to Falkirk Stadium as yet. Really struggling at the moment in the 1st Division.

Big soft spot for all (most) things Scottish, especially the scenery!

Re your number 2) Based on his performance I would add Jensen to that. Like watching a smooth Limousine when he is given that amount of space

My grandmother on my mum‘s side was from Falkirk and all that side of the family are buried in the main cemetery there.

Brentford have a very old link with Falkirk, of course, and some of their fans attend our games every now and then :)

Mmmmmm! Not sure yet tbh. The competitive intensity in midfield in the Prem has surprised me a bit and I fear he would be blown away by it. Perhaps against one of the weaker teams at home but it is looking to me like he has four players in front of him now for a first team place.

There was a sort of alliance inour lower league days, some of ours also went to some of their games as well. Not sure if it was the Eddie May, or Richard Cadette association between the 2 clubs which started it.

I expect to see a fair few away at Newcastle. There were quite a lot when we last played Carlisle away.

Maybe but you could say exactly the same about Wissa, possibly Frank

Brought my mate along for the last 2 rounds who historically has attended League Cup games with me over the past 15 years or so. He's sat through some real dross such as Oxford and Cambridge (boat race would have been more competitive to watch!). He loves everything about our set up from ground, to pitch to team. I'll never convert him to a Bee as he is more interested in cycling across the South Downs on a Saturday than watching football!

It was the Richard Cadette link (he went to them from us). On the Friday night before we played Fulham at home on the Sunday morning (April 1992) a coach load of us went up overnight to Falkirk from Ealing Broadway (organised by the Beesotted boys), then drove on to Aberdeen to watch Falkirk play (me and @nick logan in one of the Falkirk fans’ bus 😂), before then driving back to London overnight on Saturday night to watch the Bees humiliate Fulham. Messy weekend 🤓🐝

Below is my flag at Pittodrie, I’m in the pink Avirex top, you can see Nick off Billy’s shoulder. By that stage, Richard Cadette had signed my ‘silly hat’ 👍
