Part of the issue at Stoke appeared to be a very large squad on big money playing as individuals. O'Neill appears to have sorted that and has now a smaller, united squad. However their squad still has a lot more depth than most in the championship so I'd expect whatever team is selected for our game will be strong. I'm not surprised they've started so well, I thought O'Neill would have them challenging last season but there appears to have been significant problems to sort out there which has taken him time. I think we could well be playing them in the PL next season. As for the league cup tie a great game for some of our fringe players but a very difficult tie to get through so we'll need to get the balance right.

Anyone got an idea how ticket sales are going for this one?
I’ve got a mate interested in coming, but I’ve already bought (and received) my tickets. Don’t want him sat like a lemon on his own.

Think someone said 1200 last week not sure how big the allocation is though however.

Hope it’s a good turnout. I’m guessing will be tricky to sell out as a cup game, or is that only for the FA cup where u get an additional allocation?

Given the lack of 'senior' B team players tonight, I strongly suspect there'll be a fair few in the squad for Stoke, particularly given the change in the number of subs you can use.

Any thoughts on the line up for this game? I'm assuming Fernandez, Roerslev, Goode and Thompson, Bidstrup, Fosu, Ghoddos and Forss - but who will fill the other positions? Seems unlikely to be the core of the first team, and even Zanka is playing every week - expect Mr Cynical is right that they'll come from the B team - so who will they be? Peart-Harris to start if Wissa is still out? Who else?

Maghoma potentially as was on the bench vs Chelsea, and am guessing whoever doesn’t start out of Zanka and Ajer on the weekend might come in. Hope Wissa is back, but doubt it…

Hmm. How about

Fernandez, Roerslev, Goode, Zanka, Thompson, Fosu, Bidstrup, Peart-Harris, Ghoddos, Forss, er... Zamburek/Haygarth?

Subs: Cox, Stevens, Pinnock, Onyeka, Canos, Young-Coombes, Maghoma, Oyegoke, Zamburek/Haygarth

No way we will go that under strength. See the reinforcements on the bench we had against FGR and Oldham as evidence of this.

A win takes us to the QF.

In the 4th round v Fulham last season we started:
Raya
Fosu Pinnock MBS Thompson
JDS Jensen Marcondes
Ghoddos Forss Benrahma

Norgaard and Canos came on as subs and both Toney and Jansson were on the bench. That’s a far stronger line up than @Mr Cynical suggests for Stoke this season when we will if anything be even more intent on progressing than last season when focused on promotion. We are not a club set about avoiding relegation now so fitness and fatigue permitting I think it’s going to be a stronger team than against FGS and Oldham.

Obviously it depends on who plays and/or is used as a sub on Sunday but my guess for the team would be something like:

Fernandez

Zanka Goode Pinnock

Roerslev, Onyeka, Bidstrup, Peart-Harris, Thompson

Ghoddos, Forss

Subs: Raya, Stevens, Canos, Ajer, Fosu, Maghoma, Jensen, Mbeumo and maybe Brook or Haygarth

If any of the first eleven subs I've named don't start Sunday they maybe they'll be swapped into the squad.

Fernandez

Zanka Goode Thompson

Roerslev Onyeka Ghoddos Bidstrup Fosu

Forss Young-Coombes

Potentially put Peart-Harris/ Zamburek/ Stevens in for Young-Coombes and play Ghoddos more advanced?

Then have Mbuemo and Canos to act as super subs if need be on the bench.

Nice bit of rivalry between Thompson and Henry- in the Warm Up video he said he’d take Rico as his partner into the marble game in Squid Game!

I don't really care too much who plays as long as we spare the first teamers for Saturday. Most serious issue then would be central defence. Is Jeanvier actually fit and available?

The team for this one could be interesting…. slim pickings and we wont want to risk any further loses!

I’m going on the coach, and remember reading a confirmation email would be sent 48 hours before. Has anyone received the email?

Did anyone see anything when they booked regarding sitting with friends/family?

I booked two coach tickets together when I purchased my match tickets, one for me and one for my son, but we’ve been allocated two different coaches?

I’ve emailed back to see if this can be resolved but the original email said it’s going to be difficult.

Did anyone else see this message or did I just miss it?

It was in the booking but I assumed that if I booked two coach tickets they'd be together. Bit daft if not. My email arrived and confirmed my coach number. I had assumed this applied to everyone in my 'booking'. From what you say, maybe not.

I assumed that too but we were put in different coaches. My son has his own email address on his ticketing account which is how we noticed we weren’t together.

Quick email back from Linda and it’s all sorted for me, might be worth double checking for yourself though…

Same for me… my mate booked the tickets together but we on different coaches. Assumed at the time because we bought at one time we’d be together

I assume coaches will drop us off by the ground. Is there anywhere to get a beer or just in the ground?

I've just sent an email to enquire. I'd have thought the starting point for allocating coach seats would be the group orders. They've sent us match tickets next to each other but the interminable 5 or 6 hours they've actually allowed to get there.

Glad they sorted it for you. Hopefully they'll sort out mine too......and a few others I suspect.

Nothing anywhere around the ground not even a shop as it's in the middle of an industrial estate. Nearest place for a beer is Longton Rugby Club about twenty mins walk away. Not sure if they allow away fans but went in there year before last no problem although I was with my Stokie nephew.

For some strange and unknown reason The Taxi Driver, his boy Ollie, Mark Burbridge and I are departing at 1.00pm 😱😱😱. I am assuming we must be walking there ?

can only hope Mark Burbridge can get us all in to the press area for nibbles and drinks beforehand.

Bangladesh currently 32-3 after 7.1 overs.

Now have to work so can't go tonight. If anyone wants two free tickets for a last-minute jolly, they're in Central Bedfordshire, two mins from Sandy on the A1. We are home pretty much all day. And night . PM me.

Never too early if you’re travelling up the M6 .. that motorway could be your worst nightmare if there’s an incident. I’d rather leave early so you have a stress free drive!
