It's surprising we've let Gunnarsson go out again if Balcombe is heading out on loan. Unless we feel one of the B team keepers is good enough to be 3rd choice in an emergency?

Nothing in an official capacity anywhere but it would be good for him to get half a season on loan at a pro club in England.

Bit surprised at the length of the deal given he has never really got close to the first team squad let alone starting 11 - assuming this means Daniels will leave when his contract expires and Gunnarsson/Balcombe fighting it out for number 2.
Good move for him though - Doncaster like to play football and are going well so should suit him.

I’d be surprised if Daniels goes. I get the impression he’s a very important figure in the dressing room. I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s part of the B team coaching setup in the future.

I can't see us having 4 keepers next season to be honest - the fact that the 2 youngsters have signed long term deals and are out on loan would suggest they are being primed to be part of the first team squad on a regular basis similar to Mads and Marcus last season

I wouldn't be surprised if the option on Daniels' contract is taken up, so PG and EB can go out on loan again. Assuming Raya doesn't go anywhere, the best PG and EB can hope for is cup matches, which is not what they need at this stage of their development.

Great move for him. Surprised to see a league one club up for it, particularly one challenging at the top. Hope he can get regular starts and prove his worth. He's looked very good for the B team since coming back from injury, has improved massively on his distribution which was his one major weak point.

I think they had Joe Lumley from QPR on loan as first choice up until now so I would imagine so

I think it was suggested (possibly by Rebus) that he didn't get on with the previous goalkeeping coach, and that may have stalled his development. If the new one has made the garden rosy again, it may have played a big part in convincing him that his future is here.
Doncaster is a big move for someone with little experience, but hopefully it will work out! Let in a couple of penalties aye though Ellery

Who has barely had a game...so far this season the B team goalkeeper pecking order has been Balcombe, Thompson, Andersson. Shepperd will replace Balcombe and reclaim his no. 1 spot for the B team and third place in the overall hierarchy.

Agree with the dressing room bit, but I also am sure I remember reading that his family still live up north. Kids are at school up there etc.
Doesnt sound like he wants to move them down any time soon so unless this has changed I’d have thought his plan would be to move back up there once his time at the Bees comes to an end.
Could be wrong though!
It’s weird, this is his third season now. Why did they get Thompson back. Unless he is also been injured.

Balcombe and Shepperd were injured at the start of the season. Which meant only Andersson was available for B team. As Gunnarsson was loaned out too. So that left the B team short. Therefore Thompson came back to assist.

Thompson was never our player. When Jared played for us a couple of years ago he was a Chelsea youth player on loan to Chippenham Town. I believe last year he was on Swindon Town's books.

You can tell that Balcombe has been coached at Brentford, always looking to start an attack quickly, from his own box.

Not been that assured..... one poor pass nearly deflected in. Not confident at corners. Plus a couple of nervous moments in the first half too.

Poor clearance almost at the start of the 2nd half nearly gifted Blackburn a goal, then stayed rooted on the goal line from a corner and Blackburn nearly scored, Adam Armstrong now coming on, Ellery will have to be at his best now.

Like any new signing needs time to settle down and get to know his defence. Great double save but also made some mistakes. Give him 10 games before judging.
Appears Doncaster fans love his shot stopping. But distribution an area for improvement....
