I'm not sure there's any basis for that. He's been nurtured through a number of injuries and we have a lot of 'keepers in the pipeline. Given the options at BFC are playing in the B Team or sitting on the bench in the first team, getting him out on loan in the right environment is probably the best thing for his development. He's coming up to 20 and seems highly rated all round; he's generally been in an older-age England squad in the last few years. Keeping him on the back burner and developing his career without undue pressure seems good management.
That does make sense. I'm probably just expecting a bit too much from him tbh.

My take on him is that he will leave for a bigger club some time in the next year or so but only if we feel we can get an advantageous deal for us. Pure speculation, I might be way out.

Frank said they thought he might be the next Mepham off the B team production line.
He's in the England U21 squad at 19 years old and training with the seniors.

I'm sure he's highly rated internally.

Sent off with 11 minutes left for Viborg yesterday, with them leading 1-0, and they ended up losing 2-1.Screenshot_20191103-174605_FlashScore.jpg

Haven't really been following his spell in Denmark, do we know the extent of his injury.

Got no value at the moment. Needs a solid season somewhere and regular first team football. Can’t see an EFL team taking a chance on him as first choice.

Gunnarsson said in an interview that the plan (as of the early months of this year) was for PG to go out on loan next season and for Balcs to be third choice.
I am surprised we are loaning out Peter Gilham

Odd one really - he gets regular call-ups to England representative groups but can't even hold down 3rd choice here. Needs to move on and get games under his belt as his career is going nowhere at the moment.

I'm not sure it's odd. There seems to have been a clear development plan that included last season's loan but that was interrupted by injuries, culminating in his back operation. I'd assume a new plan will be made once his recovery is fully assessed with his return to training. That may be another loan or it may be Gunnarsson out on loan, with Balcombe taking the number 3 position, with a view to becoming number 2 during the season.

Another Under 21 call up.

I guess the plan is for him to be our 3rd choice this season? Maybe a loan at some stage.

We need 3 ‘keepers for injury/suspension cover.

I still find it strange that a player who has not played a game of senior football except for a limited number in a Scandinavian second division and the national league is being picked for the England under 21 squad.

That's Gareth Southgate's overall policy about pathways . I can see the logic but I agree, picking on merit should be taken into account too.

Probably is a damning indictment about England keepers in general - after all Pickford is our number 1...

I agree with the logic too.

Looking over the last two, maybe more, years how much any football has he played?

IMHO Ellery needs to be playing first team football. Ideally Football League, with a view to coming back to be a serious no.2 pushing a Raya for their place.

Maybe like many, I would love to see him step up once Raya is sold for a kings ransom.

Is Raya qualified to play for England?
You have to demonstrate to FIFA that you have a clear connection. Whatever that is.

I wonder how highly the club rate him? To be getting Eng U21 call ups and not featuring in much first team football must mean he has something about him.

Thought his clearances were too long and aimless. Unless his distrubution improves I cannot see him having a future here however good a shotstopper he is

Either injury or guaranteed a start versus Aldershot I'm guessing! Surprised Simon Andersson appears to be getting very little game time for the Bs.
yeh he was very highly rated when we signed him, we've also brought in Jared Thompson...

He played in the game that had the whole B team in isolation so maybe he has now developed symptoms?
Bit late to develop symptoms I would have thought. Game at Aldershot maybe, if so, he has lots to do to improve on his performance at Bromley.

I really hope this is not an injury. Ellery soooo needs to be playing on a regular basis.
Quite agree, however, not much game time being number three keeper. Perhaps he should go on loan, and let Jared Thompson be number three he is no worse that Hillary.

My reference to game time ANYWHERE. Will be interested to see the B Team for Aldershot.

What time is this game tomorrow?

Thanks folks.

Hoping to see Ellery’s name first on the list.

And here’s to a better stream than Bromley could provide
