....strange one for me this...hey ho....certainly not one of the players i'm looking forward to watching play at LR in 21-22 season.
Strange as I really enjoy watching him. Just like Saïd, he's a real risk-taker and sometimes it goes horribly wrong but, for both of them, when it goes right it can be a great thing to see. If every player played safe, it would be boring, predictable and also difficult to break down the opposition.

I would happily see him score a couple of tap ins. His goals need to be by being in the right place, instead of the spectacular which won’t happen often
I think that's the one major criticism that's justified. He should be scoring more goals, he's generally been in the right place at the right time a lot so far this season and if he'd finished better he'd probably be on 3 or 4 goals and we wouldn't be having this conversation... Even against Preston which was probably his worst performance for us since he joined us he had a great chance finding space on the edge of the box and hit it straight at the keeper. Very happy to see him get a new contract as he's a v good option in the squad.

....i guess I just don't like him as a football player....I don't like his antics...I don't like his theatrics....I don't think he works hard enough... and I'm still not totally convinced he's a team player....but I guess it's not what TF or many of his admirers on here believe....just one of those players that come along once in a while I can't bring myself to like or admire...think we've all felt that about certain players over the years....no big deal.

I don't see lack of effort at all, I think he works as hard as anyone. But.....

He's all or nothing, hero or zero. You gotta admit though, the guys who offer these contracts get it right an awful lot of the time. If the management think he's worthy of a new contract, then so do I.

Like him and hope he comes good but a new contract is more a case of protecting our investment so he can't go on a free next summer.

Doubt it. If that was the case then we'd move him on now
And if we didn’t think he could cut it and was likely to be no more than a marginal figure for us would we think we could get a fee for him?

Can’t see that comments on Twitter, Face Book or on here have any relevance. If the coaches and management deem that he is good enough for a new contract then that’s fine by me.

They have far greater knowledge of what he contributes, considerably more I would suggest than those on here!! So if they are happy and believe in him then perhaps we should as well
I don’t get your comments sometimes....they verge on the snidely when putting down our own fans which is very strange ? Your comparison is like saying someone who works in a brewery for a couple of years knows more about the taste of beer than someone who drinks it Non stop for 50......I’d personally base my knowledge on what’s what in football against most who work at a club....fkin put money on it too ;)

If the club thinks he’s the natural replacement for beniboy then I will be most worried about where this season is heading :( we need far better....far better

When / if Janelt gets up to speed and Baptiste is fit I just don't see how he can possibly be a starter, irrespective of whether Thomas "likes" him.

He wouldn't start in our best 11 but as we have 400 injuries he is going to be very important in the coming weeks

Of course he will. We can't play the same 11 3 times a week, we'll need to rotate. Worked pretty well rotating him and Jensen post lockdown. It'll be great to get Baptiste fit and Janelt integrated, then we will have real options to select the midfield based on the opposition style of play. Something we've needed for a long time.. Assuming he doesn't disappear somewhere before 5pm EM will make a significant contribution to the team over the season..

I thought he looked pretty lovely all afternoon, and it was an an absolutely delightful cross for Toney's second goal... Toney didn't even need to jump.

Good assist and performance but Coventry ceded the midfield battle early in the match. He had more freedom as a result.

EM seems to be able to find space in behind Toney in and around the box with his runs off the ball, they often didn't get picked up but I think when Toney and Ghoddos get used to it we'll see much more impact from him. He's always getting in the box and had another couple of good chances today, would like to see him be more clinical though, he's had a couple of chances in most matches and only the one overhead to show for it. Beautiful ball in for Toney though, more of that please! The majority of our crossing was pretty poor (mainly from Dalsgaard, Canos and Henry) but it just shows if you can get the quality on the final ball then Toney will likely be on the end of it. Hope his injury isn't anything as he'll be needed in this run of games..

I think he's suffered from the expectations of being a flair player/goalscorer which he absolutely hasn't been but as one of a midfield 3 he's been excellent. I think some critics of players like him want 11 superstars but not many clubs outside the eventual top 6 will have a squad player as good as Emiliano.

He is a talented footballer but does go missing for periods of games - I forgot he was playing for a bit of the first half. His cross for Toneys header was ruddy marvellous though

It's difficult though with watching on the TV/PC... He does a lot of running off the ball pulling defenders and midfielders about which creates space and opportunities for others. I think currently we don't pick him up enough when he finds space. Towards the end of the season he, Ollie and Said were linking up pretty well but we're having to re-learn all that with Toney and Canos and eventually presumably Ghoddos.. Doesn't help that Mbuemo has been a bit off as he's over that side. Bryan kept going down dead ends on the wing and wasn't moving the ball inside enough. In the end he was involved with both goals and should probably have got one himself so will take that. Expect to see more of him the more the team learn to play together..

If Marcondes is cleared fit, it wouldn't surprise me to see him start tomorrow, given he's probably the only option who's not played for a week.

Would certainly be interesting to see how he interacts with Ghoddos, both very good at finding space in advanced positions and Ghoddos has an eye for the unexpected pass which Marcondes could benefit a lot from..

interesting point with both of them on the pitch would be difficult for the opposition to stop us creating space and opportunities for Toney and Mbeumo

Stoke, who also played Wednesday, had to play the last 30 minutes with 10 men, defending 2-2 to get a point. I think a degree of patience and the right substitutions could allow us to use our speed and movement to get 3 points.
