The bat hit the pad.
Not that I saw. Nor the third umpire.

The pads did not move and the bat was not in contact with the pads. There was no reason for that noise except the ball hitting the bat.

Whether it did or not is another matter, but the "snick" is otherwise unexplainable.

I hope you can agree that hotspot would have cleared it up for certain. Why isn't hotspot used in their series?

Anyway we have a test series that will largely now be determined by the first session tomorrow. Had far too much to drink today and need to call a night. Let's see what tomorrow brings in a fascinating series to date

Perhaps because it is unreliable. Or that it is too expensive?

What explanation do you have for the noise?

Can't recall the last time I saw hotspot. Wasn't it disproven with tape masking bat edges?

Looks like I'm going to have to put someone back on ignore.
Such blinkered comments.

As a batsman, you know when you've hit the ball.... unless the bat strikes something else simultaneously, and with significant impact (floor, pad, usually). The double spikeyness of the picture above might suggest that this has happened. However, crucially, the pictures don't back up the theory.

Rahul seems a decent bloke. I'm not aware of any "history", so would diplomatically suggest either snicko has malfunctioned or KL is mistaken.

All of which proves absolutely nothing. lol

I cannot see England getting out of this one. I bet when England bat the wicket will transform from a flat track to a sheet of corrugated iron 😉😩

Scoreboard pressure, sadly this England team can’t cope with that, anything over 250 will probably be too many.

Anderson has to be dropped for the next test. Can call it rested if they want but hes been appalling in this test.

368 to win.

Will Kohli claim the extra half hour tonight?

So 368 to win. Around 126 overs to do it in. If this was the team of 2011 I would fancy our chances. However I predict we will 3 down before close of play.

Don't see how Yadav wouldn't have known that bounced when he claimed the catch.

All 4 results still possible. Decent from Burns and Hameed. Not much happening for the bowlers. It seems that dangerous times are first hour and new ball overs.

Shame Ashwin isn’t playing 😂😂😂😂
