@Indian Bee... I don't think you're a beer drinker, S, but do you happen to know what the Oval's restrictions are on taking cans in tomorrow?

Hi Woollie. My experience is that the Oval Gestapo find drinks and confiscate them. Mansged to smuggle in gin and tonic in a large lemonade bottle - but that was 20 years ago. I'm sure they'd suss it now straight away.

@Lionel Bart-At Its only Lords you are allowed to bring booze in, nowhere else. Worth a try though, they only take it off you. Be creative. My mate took a bottle of whiskey in inside a loaf of bread! Enjoy it what a day it will be.

Ah, OK. Do you think they might have a big screen at Lords? Was it sliced or unsliced, btw?

Beer cans fit in Pringles tubes, or you can wrap them in tin foil and claim them to be baguettes. All depends on the diligence of the searcher.

Last time I was at lords they said only three per person, so my son who was twelve took three beers too and I got away with six.
THREE?

That's useful for a products typically sold in 4s!

Indeed but thems the rules. They claim it’s to stop you getting pissed but they are quite happy to sell you their beer without counting how many you’ve had.

Can confirm this HWB 😀😂
2 x #cans will fit inside a tube of Pringles, with a liberal sprinkling of the savoury snack on top to complete the disguise....
4 tubes of Pringles should see you well on the way to celebrating a fantastic England victory!!! 😀

Another great day in the London sun. I honestly can’t call it. The pitch is just flat and at the moment thinking how India will be able to take 10 wickets in 90 overs. Equally, if a couple of wickets go then pressure may get to England but the openers didn’t seem in any trouble at all apart from Burns towards the end of the day when Jadeja finally got his lengths right. This series is on a knife edge and tomorrow is just huge. If England win then no doubt Kohli will get lots of flack for the omission of Ashwin and quite rightly so. If India win then England fans may bemoan the fact that they should have scored more first innings round. Anyway should be a cracker. Hoping to get to the crowd around 230ish as got busy morning of work.

@Lionel Bart-At strong security checks will probably mean no chance of getting cans in and yep not a beer drinker.

Anderson has to be dropped for the next test. Can call it rested if they want but hes been appalling in this test.

Looked completely knackered today. Not sure whether his body will be able to cope with another test match later this week.

Will they ask why I've got mountains of loose pringles in the rest of my bag?

@Indian Bee regarding the Where's Ravichandran mystery is it possible that he has had a "difference of opinion" with King Kohli and is on the naughty step as a result?

No falling out at all. I think they have tried to learn lessons from the NZ test earlier this summer (when they played 2 spinners) and previous tours. It’s a question and I could understand it in part getting the balance of the team right picking Jadeja for couple of tests but after the failing last week and the history and weather forecast of the Oval this week then it is a mind blogging decision not to play the best spinner in the world. The experiment of Jadeja coming in at 5 and Rahane at 6 failed. Should have dropped Rahane for another batter. Let’s see how Jadeja does tomorrow but Ashwin should have been in this team for this test.

Maybe they saw his figures at The Oval in the Surrey 4 day game

About one for 100
Nothing special

But then in second innings
Different story

That’s why he should have been included for the second innings alone.

Have a few meetings this morning so will miss the play for the first hour and half. Woke this morning and I can’t honesty call what will happen. England should however not be losing 10 wickets on that pitch in 90 overs. Will be tensed day ahead.

Keep it tight for sessions 1&2 I expect. If no more than 3 or 4 wickets down at tea then consider going for it in the evening session.

Wish I were there :(

I think a draw is still the most likely result, not sure Root will go for the win when there is still a test to play, he showed that earlier in the summer against New Zealand.

Hope I'm proven wrong as it could be a cracking day.

Very poor run out but does that really hurt our chances? I don't think so. The more time Root is at the crease, the more chance we have of winning IMO. Jadeja has looked very average against right handers so far.

Not exactly looking like we are trying to win here - 54 in 27 overs in that session and the late wicket probably doesn't help either

Root would get crucified if they threw away this game chasing good balls.

1-1 with 1 to play will do us

The pitch was a 350 par score minimum in the first innings as it offered nothing to the bowlers. However, you had to be patient as whilst its flat, the ball is not coming off the bat so im not shocked by the scoring rate.

I suspect England will try to keep wickets in hand and maybe have a punt late on but im not convinced its possible.

Hameed goes.....
141/3....
Frustrating as he really should have made India pay for the awful dropped catch earlier today.

Pope gone as well now. Can see this ending with an England collapse
