Your ongoing thoughts, please. Join in, everybody. Very poor uptake on the Christchurch-Dulwich thread last night. :nono:

What, no Jensen? Don't they know I put him in the thread title? And they've spelt Denmark wrong on the back of the track-suits. 😟 Bloody ignoramuses.

Don't want to turn this into any kind of agenda....
But Marcus Rushford either forgot, or has got bored of, the taking the knee that at kick off he actually kicked off by passing the ball to a player who took the knee.

.... & Dalsgaard is on the bench as well .... don't forget! (Hopefully they both get a rest!)

Is Declan Rice the love child of Jos Buttler and Jonathan Douglas?

It’s come to this. I was watching the game , Mrs TB comes in and says ‘shall we watch an Escape to the Country I recorded today ?’ and with relief I replied ‘Yes that sounds good’ !!!!!

Why do we have a penalty here? Why don't we have VAR here?

After winning over his critics at the last World Cup (me included) it looks like his gone back to his donkey ways of late for England AND Man Utd

No complaints with the red, the first challenge was horrible, lucky to stay on the pitch. 2nd was so unnecessary too.

once a donkey always a donkey ... we “ripped him a new one” whenever he played against us, always thought he was as poor as Peterboro’s Fulham reject Zakuani!

It’s International football that needs help. So bloody boring. I remember a time (here we go) when an England game was an event now it’s just dull. Too many games, too much structured football. Not saying the football in the past was better it just had a level of jeopardy due to the people playing( I am thinking of seeing John Atyeo playing for England at Wembley versus Bulgaria) . Today it’s just too dull. Old bloke syndrome perhaps?

Lack of audience doesn't help. But surely it's more entertaining now than the days when 60% of England's opponents simply caved in to a thumping. So much technically better too. Do miss the home internationals though.

If Southgate was Villa manager Grealish still wouldnt get in the team
Strange one, isn't it? Would have thought he had done enough. May be set up for him to unpick Denmark with a bit of magic, second half. God, did I just put that sentence together?

Your missing out. The nations league has been a real success, the Croatia match a couple of years ago was much much more exciting than any boring friendly I can remember. The last tournament saw the whole country captivated in a way that has not happened since Euro 96. We have a exciting squad of players. Once Covid is over you should give a home match a try. Wembley has plenty of good places to get a beer these days, plus always plenty of Bees in attendance. Obviously it’s a bit flat without the crowd but you can either sulk about that or make the most of what we have - it won’t be like this forever.

Just saw a replay of the penalty. I may be wrong but did Pickford deliberately push Walker out of the way in order to get the ball ? Long time since I did a refs course but can you foul your own player and be penalised by gaining an advantage. I'm probably talking bollx maybe Ladbroke will put me right.

When was this golden era that England games were an ‘event’ please?

No, but you can be penalised by a card if what you done is violent conduct against your own, or dissent etc.

Guess we are too spoilt with how Brentford play.
Lots of hoof ball or passing to Pickford.
He's touched the ball more than Kane hasn't he?

Bloody annoying that Maguire got himself sent off. Always screws up the spectacle when one side has a numerical advantage. At least it's still some sort of a game. One of the lads had to take his son to hospital last Monday and our 5-a-side was totally bolloxed. :(

Cheers Ladbroke. Did a bit of Googling and it could have been pen also if in deliberately pushing Walker, Walker he then felled the other guy. Again nay be wrong.

Seeing the slow motion replay of it again... I felt the Denmark player actually made contact with Walkers shin(pad) and as a result lost balance and in mean time Walker kicked softly the bottom of a falling man's foot. Still don't see how, other than 5 or 6 Danes in his face, he saw fit to give a penalty.

Doesn't change the fact that they deserve to be winning.

We're crap. Side ways passing. Players more in form on the bench, at home, with players who maybe shouldn't even be there starting.

Tyler and Neville reviewing the penalty just now, point out the slightest of contact by Walker with the Danish player, who is already falling on his back and completely out of the game. @ladbroke, is there no provision at all, within the law, for the fact that the player "offended against" has already lost the ball and is completely out the action?

Nothing in law but as a referee you use common sense there.

... and is there provision for common sense in this way? Serious question! Should be.
Again nothing in law.
A referee should use common sense to make a judgement as to whether a player is fouled (late challenge) or whether it was just a genuine coming together which is what I think has happened for that penalty.
