Don't get many out-and-out friendly internationals these days. Will it be a proper match? Will there be 50 substitutions like there used to be?

Five naughty boys missing for England, Wales play without Ramsay and Bale. Who will win? Does it matter? Do you even care?

Progress and opinions on here, if you feel like it.

In response to your second paragraph:

1. Don’t know
2. No
3. Not in the slightest.

After the Ollie Watkins / Joe Gomez dual a few nights ago, it is truly amazing to see the hattrick hero watching on from his sofa, whilst the bloke he ran rings round trots onto the hallowed Wembley turf wearing not a dayglo security vest but actually an England shirt!!!

Experimental side, lots of unusual circumstances. Expect Wales to get a result.

Good point. I reckon Ollie would be cursing Calvert-Lewin rather than Gomez though. Ollie's time is coming soon, I feel sure.

What was that appalling noise they played before the national anthem? Sounded a bit like "Give Me A Home Where The Buffalo Roam"? The Welsh seemed to be singing to it? Surely there's only one anthem for the mainland and West England?

Start is intense enough, anyway. Promising. Glad I switched over from Whispering Death: the Michael Holding Story. Was touch and go.

Couldn't give a toss about this. Mepham playing for Wales adds a bit of interest I suppose. When Watkins plays for England then I'll be interested.

I won't. He plays for Aston Villa.

Must be Conference then. This is crap. You're not impressed so far, surely?
I've seen worse. Both sides stringing passes together at least. Wales look very well organised and quite fit too... they seem to have a crowd of players all over the pitch. Talking of which, pitch looks slightly heavy and slow.

Who needs Ollie Watkins? Good work from Grealish and C-L is perfectly placed for opener.

Last time I was at Wembley was for Orient V Fylde (long story). Same kits and everything. Even a similar sized crowd. They strung some passes together. It's reminding me of that game a bit.

Mepham lost DCL for the goal and it took him 45 minutes to win anything in the air against him.

Lots of sideways passes though.

Wales are the more settled and comfortable side, clearly playing a system that suits them.

England bit lucky to be in front. Not massively fluid. But experimental lineups and trying new things (and sometimes seeing ideas fail) is what friendlies are for🤷‍♂️

International football is awful nowadays. Normally I would be up for seeing Wales put one over the smug English but I have barely watched this game and, when I was watching, Mepham gifted them a goal. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Mepham and Cabango holding each other off the ball whilst Coady walks in free to poke in the second. Bizarre

Kalvin Phillips....
Does he pass the ball forward?
He just got the ball and straight away he looks backwards to pass to. He had time to control and take it forward. He could also have looked the other way and passed it forward.

Thought the same. Whole body immediately turned towards his own goal when he could just as easily have gone the other way. Several times now. That said, his touch has been sure and his passing swift and crisp. Let him grow into the role.

Enjoyed that. Some good performances in there. Was very critical of Grealish last season, but has been excellent so far this, including for England. Colman summed it up nicely... said Grealish had been superb, then commented later that sometimes he gets a little too comfortable on the ball and takes a touch or two too many. Tonight he mainly avoided this, and there was a pace and purpose to what he did. Only late on was Colman's comment pertinent, but last season he could have said this every game.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin seems a nice lad.

3 goals scored by players unmarked in the six yard box,bit of a throwback to last weekend. Major concern for me was just how terrible the commentary was. Sam Matterface spent the evening reading out his crib sheet or telling anecdotes ,anything notable that happened mentioned sometime later by Chris Coleman if he could get a word in. Grealish needs to be the playmaker and would prefer a back four.

Of course it matters.

If Wales had won we would have never heard the end of it.
