Massive ques again tonight? How is two enterances for a stand that holds several thousand people sufficient? What are they going to do to rectify the situation? Who approved this? Are they going to accept accountabilty and resign?

In which direction. The issue is people not prepared to walk down the platforms enough, meaning crowding at one end. Had no problems so far as just walk towards the other end of platform, train comes in and loads of seats.

Poor planning tonight. I just went in via another entrance. Really poor decision making from up top…..

I find it really weird why so few don’t walk all the way down to the far end of the platform - if you’re getting off at Clapham then you’ll be right by the exit stairs there for the other platforms.

Honestly the way everything went in the West Stand tonight was dire. From the ticketing situation (missed the first 20) to the overzealous stewards, not a fan of it. Sour taste on an otherwise lovely night game (beside the first half, that is).

Just as bad for the north stand, didn’t have this problem with the Arsenal game.
I did notice of the 3 turnstiles at gate K that only 2 were open. No idea why the middle one was ‘shut’.

First time in West stand today (W231) completes the 4.

Pros: no lighting when watching the game, unlike Blackpool illuminations in South stand. Concourse had a good feel to it. Arrived pretty early and got in very easy, so can’t comment on queuing, but mate said it was long 25mins before ko.

Con: absolute mayhem with folk walking up stairs and trying to find seats their seats eg. To turn left or right??? And those sitting down can’t help as the number is under your bum. Brentford really need to get some signage on the front of every few steps or the back of the stands just to point people in the right direction. Even the odd stencil painted on the floor would be so much better @hobbsy can this be fed back?

Did the entry system go down again, as it did at the Valencia game?

There was clearly something amiss as there weren’t these issues against Arsenal.

We arrived with 15 minutes to go to found instance queues outside the North Stand.

What was the difference in arrangements compared to the Arsenal game??

Fewer turnstiles open. The Club knew the stands were near enough sold out. Yet out of six (?) turnstiles (M) only 2 were being used. We were meant to use N entrance but the queue was massive!!! So M turnstile it had to be as queue was small....... All leads to the same stand..

OK thanks.
Hadn't realised fewer turnstiles were available.

We were told as we queued that the entry system had gone down, yeah. For entrance N that is.

Completely insufficient/confusing signposting once you're inside the West Stand too

My dad's first visit to the new fortress, he couldnt believe the lack of signage outside the ground (we travelled seperately) let alone inside.

Lighting getting away from the South Stand along LR towards Kew Bridge totally inadequate.

Arrived at about 7.25.
Queued for about 15 minutes before being told it was the North Stand queue.
Moved to the west stand queue, got slowly nearer to entrance N for another 15 minutes
Eventually got in via entrance M at 8pm
Shambles compared to the Arsenal game.

People turning up 20 minutes into the game was a joke my 5 year old daughter could not see anything whilst people were still coming in. The stewards in W235 were a joke - all the late comers couldn’t find there seat and the stewards had disappeared. They also watched the game rather than the fans when they bothered to stand in there positions. Complete shambles tonight - yet the Arsenal game I thought was great!!

I agree about signage etc (including to get to your seats) but the bigger issues were the queues to get in! As mentioned in post 2 the queue for the North Stand was going back to the M4! I didn't get to my seat until 15 mins after kick off having arrived 15 mins before it. This really cannot be allowed to happen again, and whatever issues caused the problem need addressing asap, for everyones sake.

Fortunately we can learn these lessons in a Carabao game, but it isn't good.

Another shambles, Premiership on the pitch, Conference off of it. I was in the South Stand so no problems. A mate had tickets in the North and gave up and went home.

I think getting there only 15 minutes before kick-off on a midweek is pushing it.

Granted it seems a few turnstiles were out of action, but your wait was not excusable. However, people have to arrive in decent time.

Do you think a 30-minute wait to get into the stadium is OK?

I do agree that we need to get used to arriving earlier on match days than we're used to, but I thought 15 mins was adequate for a 10k-ish attendance cup game. I'll play it safe rather than sorry for the Brighton game, but hopefully the club can put in processes to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Have a season ticket in south stand but had ticket for west stand tonight.
Was in the queue for N entrance at 7:15 and got in the ground 7:55. Simply inexcusable.

Stewards were a joke today, changed from west stand to dug out to give it a try. Was a que to get in. Then at half time the steward manager told the stewards to look busy and get in and around the crowd which just caused more problems…

I was told systems were down - queue compounded by having to also show id. Asked steward why and he said it was because the system was down - not sure why I had to show id when I had a paper ticket but hey ho. Steward then used a pass to open turnstile - North Stand entrance J.

Was it they weren’t working of was it they were not in use for social distancing? Like the urinals in the gents that have a red X on them?
Middle turnstile, north stand gate k had a red x on it, not sure why as there was no distancing going on.

Yep. It does actually say on the ticket print off to arrive no later than 30 minutes before. And we knew 3 stands were pretty much sold out.

My first game at the BCS. Arrived so early from Orpington, that I got off at Brentford to have one last look at GP, before walking back to Kew Bridge. Arrived at Lionel Road at 7.15 - actually got past the scanner at 7.44. There were probably still a couple of thousand behind me. Queues everywhere. Also plenty of confusion as to which queue was for which stand. I think the problem was the queues had built up so much, there wasn't much of a system at all. I asked some folk who'd been at the Arsenal game, who reassured me I was in the right queue and that this was shambolic compared to the Arsenal game. I also found it strange that entry in West is only via two gates, M and N. I assume the problem was the ticket readers not working, although it was sorted by the time I got in.

Would echo the comments about signage, little help in finding/directions to my seat and the route back afterwards to the Key Bridge tunnel was pitch black and downright dangerous. At least they had a steward on a loudhailer to direct us to the tunnel I suppose.

Same as Gate L. Sure that all gates on the North Stand entrances have 3 turnstiles each of which the middle one is ‘out of use’ for social distancing.

Wondered if turnstiles read season cards quicker than scan bits if paper...and that was causing delays. When I arrived at P for West Stand at around 7 there was a short queue but it was taking 20secs per person to get through the two turnstiles. I asked the steward if we could use the wider entrance and was told it was too slow to open and close.

Had a conversation with Alan Walsh after the match. I think there a number of mitigating circumstances however only half the turnstiles were working on the North and West stands. For a currently unknown reason those non-working turnstiles failed to acknowledge that they had been loaded with data for today's game. There will be an investigation and a determination that it won't happen again.

However
  • People sitting in new seats and new stands so not being familiar with the turnstile to use
  • All paper tickets (which seem to be less reliable than cards)
  • An evening kickoff with people arriving later
  • A high-attendance
all probably contributed.

None of the above were the issue though, and if all turnstiles were working we would all have got into the stadium for kick-off. As it was some people got in around 15 minutes after kick-off.

He also is aware of queueing issues and that wayfinding can be improved.

Hopefully it is all teething problems and the turnstile issue in particular can be fixed and proven to be fixed.

The season card is def quicker, just a tap like a debit card. The paper ticket I had to hold it down for 3/4 seconds, plus issues with unreadable qr codes
