We got c£24m for two centre backs who wouldn't get in our current team.

Best performance from a Bees player in the championship ever... or is that too much?

What a ****ing beast.

That was like Michael Turner v Colchester.

He was playing for Dulwich Hamlet 4 years ago and now he’s destroying some of the best attacking lines in the Championship.

The BFC business model strikes again!!!

Had an Arsenal supporter - a proper one, been going for ever - saying tonight that Arsenal need a Pinnock.

What a player. To think we got £12m for Mepham and replaced him with Pinnock for a fraction of the cost. Bournemouth have effectively paid for us to have a better defence!
lol It's funny and TRUE!

If only they hadn't exercised the option on Luiz, we could have done a swap.....

Peter Gelson, Pat Kruse, Terry Evans, Jamie Bates, Sam Sodje, Michael Turner, Tony Craig, ***, I loved you all but you have to take a look at this guy.
*** also £30m+ worth of centre backs that don’t quite get into this hall of fame... Tarkowski, Egan, Mepham, Konsa, O’Connell

Quiz question... What do all of the above have in common?

To think we sold Konsa for £12m and got Pinnock, Jansson and some spare money left over. Good business.

Strange how in all these lists of past centre halfs we always leave out Harlee Dean even though he played more games than most of them ,went for decent money and never let us down. Note to footballers don't slag of your old team to curry favour with your new one.

I had one contact me recently. He's had an Arsenal season ticket for as long as I can remember. He's just given it up and bought a Brentford one instead.

It's truly hard to believe we got so much for Konsa.
Was a great business opportunity identified and executed by our management team, perfectly implemented by Dean Smith when he moved on. He knew the buy out clause in Konsa's contract. Very lazy from him which he has replicated several times now at AV and will cost him his job anytime soon, but excellent for us.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but I have a serious question which is all theory at the moment.
Imagine if we manage to overhaul say West Brom and all Brentford have to do to get promoted is beat an already relegated Barnsley on the final day.
Question is does anyone know if Barnsley are entitled to add ons on the Ethan Pinnock sale if Brentford get promoted? If so there may be a conflict of interest there.

If there anywhere near a well run club then I'd expect them to have added an add on based on him helping us win promotion.

Most centre backs I find are either the sophisticated footballing type or the get stuck in, you shall not pass. Pinnock seems to have a bit of both about him. Cult hero if not future Bees legend in the making

If we get promoted, I’d like to think we’d give Barnsley an extra million on the basis that Ethan Pinnock is so good.

Er..... who?
Most of the Brentford Loyal facebook group, some of the less educated parts of the press (maybe even the same people who said in commentary the other night that MB was looking to sell a couple of years back)

Pinnock has steadily improved his game over this season.
If we can cast our minds back to the start of the season, which seems a lifetime ago - it’ll soon be a year - then he took a little time to adjust to the pace and physicality of the Championship.
I think I’m right in saying that early on, Jeanvier was preferred to Pinnock.

Now, Pinnock looks as if he’s played in the Championship all his career.

Apart from his superb defensive skills, the biggest plus he has over Jeanvier, is that not only is he a great defender, but he also brings the ball out of defence and either passes forward or takes the ball forward.

By contrast, in my opinion, Jeanvier tends to defend well, but when he wins the ball, he passes sideways and is more hesitant in taking the ball forward.

I think Pinnock is now the better player because he is more decisive, and his physicality has developed enormously in defending at all costs.

Friday's performance confirmed he is my new favourite. Class. Especially that sliding block in the second half.

We all agree Ethan is better than Virgil.
