Pinnock has steadily improved his game over this season.
If we can cast our minds back to the start of the season, which seems a lifetime ago - it’ll soon be a year - then he took a little time to adjust to the pace and physicality of the Championship.
I think I’m right in saying that early on, Jeanvier was preferred to Pinnock.

Now, Pinnock looks as if he’s played in the Championship all his career.

Apart from his superb defensive skills, the biggest plus he has over Jeanvier, is that not only is he a great defender, but he also brings the ball out of defence and either passes forward or takes the ball forward.

By contrast, in my opinion, Jeanvier tends to defend well, but when he wins the ball, he passes sideways and is more hesitant in taking the ball forward.

I think Pinnock is now the better player because he is more decisive, and his physicality has developed enormously in defending at all costs.
And don’t forget his part in the “secret” set-pice routine........

Was as solid as ever. To think he has played the vast majority of his career at non-league level. To me the player of the season, has truly been exceptional. I know I have had debate with others on this but he really was our first choice CB when Mepham left.

With each game that goes by I find it more and more remarkable that Ethan was in L1 a year ago, let alone in non-league as recently as three years ago!

If we don’t win promotion this season I suspect there will be strong, strong offers.

Tyrone Mings cost Aston Villa £26.5m, EP must be worth serious dough.

Quite amazing that after a performance like tonight, he didn't even get in the top three nomination for MoM from our fans. He was simply superb yet again.

*as were Said and Josh who did get there.

Picking a player of the season is going to be so hard this year. Pontus, Norgaard and Pinnock have all been incredible additions to the team

Pinnock took the bull by the horns and starting marauding forward with the ball which gave us an extra dimension going forward and was a massive part of our turn around, played some really good passes too, particularly second half. Cracking goal. Only black mark was letting his man get ahead of him for their goal.

We’ve got Ollie Watkins, Saïd Benrahma and Pontus Jansson. All having brilliant seasons.

But remarkably, it’s Ethan Pinnock - the former Dulwich Hamlet player - that may pip them all for our POTS. Amazing performance after amazing performance.

From an opponent’s perspective I can imagine he’s one of the most horrible players to come up against in the league.

Ethan was being manhandled at the corner leading up to his goal. He outmuscled and out jumped his man to score and the defender was left with his arms outstretched wondering what on earth had happened

We were supposed to be looking at him when he was at Forest Green Rovers, I wonder why we didn't go for him at that time?

Tried to pick out a few progressive passes and step forward with the ball. Probably the best of a bad bunch today.

Another good game today.
Has clearly been encouraged to bring the ball out of defence, which could be crucial in terms of another option when trying to break down teams that park the bus.....Showing an encouraging range of passing too.....
Reminiscent of Hermann Hreidarsson at his best!!! 😁

Some Sam Sodje style runs out from the back. Very solid at the back again.

Reminds me a little of Rio Ferdinand.

I was in part bored with the whole BMW last season, not what they achieved but it seemed commentators only focused on them and yes they did very well but for me Pinnock, Rico and Nørgaard are absolute rocks and consistently 8/10 performers.

Just keeps on improving, an absolutely fantastic player who if he carries in like this will be attracting some serious interest from the big boys . One minute he’s carrying the ball out like Bobby Moore the next he’s winning everything in the air and timing tackles brilliantly. MOM for me and an absolute shoe in as a premier league player , let’s just hope it’s with us.

That run and that pass with the outside of his foot! Been banging on for ages about one of our CBs stepping up and pushing forward with the ball and Ethan did it superbly today. Great to see!

He was helped by the fact that, out of 'Udders' attack and midfield, only Hogg seemed vaguely interested in stopping him coming forward.

The way we play the ball across the back, it's an option that comes up, eventually, every single week. Crying out for this tactic last week. Well done Thomas for thinking and adapting, as ever.

As we’ve seen some players receive new contracts these last two weeks, Ethan should be next on the “to do” list. Along with Saïd. :)
