Makes me so uptight.
They can identify accounts like this, but when my daughter was groomed online via Instagram and those "groomers" accounts and due to my diligence with names and the Police having her phone for over a year........ Fek all was done about it.......makes me so angry!!!

Nothing will be done as to many people in power still think tackling racism equates to supporting alleged Marxist organisations. 😔

Social media can do more on this and I don’t mean making everyone verify ID to have an account.

Their algorithms and teams of moderators already quickly filter out all sorts of content that violates their ToS; they were literally able to censor and ban the sitting POTUS!

They already actively give warning prompts to users both posting and reading certain types of content, and hide replies to tweets that contain spam or abusive language. This needs to be aggressively extended to and expanded on for racial abuse.

about time the social media companies and the old bill actually took this seriously and prosecuted the racists divs............if its actually racism and not like the poster rashford had defaced up in manchester which was just club abuse from man city fans and nothing to do with racism which the media were only too quick to jump all over saying it was until it was pointed out EVENTUALLY otherwise

It's so easy just to create a new e-mail address and therefore a new Twitter account - Twitter can't permanently suspend anyone under it's current format.
£100 deposit per account
Sprout crap, lose your money...better still, sprout crap give your money to the person your are sprouting crap at.
Open a new account with same bank details, £500. Do it again £1000 and so on.

You can make it harder though. They've got their phone number and cookies on their machines for a start.

Except i know people who regularly posted bigotted stuff on Facebookand £100 would mean nothing to them. I also know of somebody who was suspended for calling out a racist and has been unable to reopen the account.

Before (correctly) calling out the social media companies on their inaction, I think we should also call out Brentford’s own lack of effective action on online abuse. The person who racially abused both Ghoddos and Canos on Twitter subsequently attended the Bournemouth play off game at home and the play off final at Wembley. 😡

I agree that registering with an ID isn’t the best option. In fact I think it’s an awful idea. One of the best things about the internet for many people is that they can use anonymity to be themselves and/or to get away from the ‘real world’.

Take the GPG for example. Most users post under a nickname/pseudonym (some idiots register with their actual names), and the mods manage to keep everyone on a civil discourse. All it takes is good moderation.

Social Media companies just don’t care enough for the most part, it’s as simple as that. Facebook is the worst though, they have 25x the revenue of Twitter and a nearly a 40% margin. They could moderate it easily, but use hate/fake news/gaslighting to supercharge revenue and engagement. While I have no sympathy for Twitter, I don’t think they are even profitable yet, and in the grand scheme of things have tiny financial resources compared to Facebook. Plus Twitter has millions more user created discussion topics to moderate, where as Facebook mostly just has to moderate who it lets advertise.

Exactly the same with my sister about 2 years ago. 14 months later she received her xbox and laptop back, but only after we kept going on and on at them.
They managed to track the offender after a year to Berkshire.
Started off on xbox before ending on messenger on Facebook.

Facebook are awful at helping out (they also own Instagram which may explain delays with your phone).

Rediculous stuff..people shouldn't have to pay or provide any ID it's up to them to just filter out the words and ban people etc and then the authorities to act on it .

52 years old and racially abusing a 19 year old kid on Facebook for missing a penalty, what a pathetic life that cretin must lead.

Grow up you ****.
