Like I've said I'm not fussed either way but don't fear change as long as it is done right. This is something that all fans need to be involved in.

Isn't that what Banana was saying in the first post?

Hobbsy - can you confirm that BIAS have not approved the new badge but the club are suggesting they have?

I bet its Kew Bridge Gate, delicately constructed from free clip art.

Am i not correct in saying, Banana apparently is the only one to say we are designing a new badge and absolutely no one else has confirmed this?
So until there is confirmation and something to comment on we close this thread....

Don't tell me they are messing with the badge? As long as the person responsible for the 125 year badge is no where near the design table we should be cool. I think any badge will be ok as long as it actually says BRENTFORD. If it just has BFC I'll still have people asking how Brentwood are getting on. :banghead:

Hobbsy has told us it can't be BRENTFORD. Kew has more marketing cachet.
Come on you Kews!

At the last quarterly meeting with the football club, the BIAS committee members present were shown three new designs for our Clubs badge.

As individual’s we gave our personal feedback on all three of the designs

As an Association we offered no comment as we had neither sought the views of our membership, or had an inkling as our memberships views. Therefore BIAS as an Association have not approved or disapproved of any of the designs we were shown.

The Club run their own supporter participation groups and we understand that they too have given their feedback along with a few Brentford stakeholders.

Our understanding is that all of the feedback gathered will be passed to Matthew who will make the final decision.

Can you provide a link as to where the club have suggested that we have approved the new badge?

The identity visual needs to change, not least because the colour pallet, font and spacings are not consistent with the new brand identity as per the Braemar Road forecourt.

Shouldn't we change the "new brand identity as per the Braemar Road forecourt" then?

And as there as three different designs on offer then would all of them be consistent with the font, colours , spacing etc of the forecourt?

Quite honestly, if Matthew Benham wants this one, I'm OK with it!

Yes they should be, although instinsically different in their overall design.

Another storm in a teacup.

Can we wait until we see the actual designs of the new badge before we go into meltdown please?

Agreed. Nothing to properly report on yet. I can count how many posters have gone into meltdown on one finger.

Perhaps someone with the knowledge should start a new forum when we move to Lionel Road - choice is always good. Any name suggestions? 🤔

Yeah like a really aggressive Bee with tattoos and a throbbing sting coming out of a hive that looks like the King Arms singing "who are ya"

Can't be arsed with any new design. I still have my metal badges from 1966, in home and away colours, and like to wear the smaller version of the home badge to important games.

I personally don't want us to change badge, I like the current one, but I'm not surprised that we're looking to change it.

They've changed a lot image wise in terms of the club so it's more than likely they don't feel the badge suits the rest of the 'style'. I like it as it's busy personally, empty badges can be boring as well, which I hope is a route we don't go down.

Those of you that have supported the club for decades through thick and thin proudly showing your tattoos as a measure of your loyalty over decades to the club you have supported your entire life should look away now....

The staff here at GPG Towers have informed me that the club are about to adopt a new club badge. A new club badge selected by our Fulham Marketing department.

Further, in an effort to railroad this change through, the club's Director of Marketing has been seeking the BIAS's seal of approval for the new design as a method to justify a new badge. The BIAS Committee have refused to provide such an endorsement. Nevertheless this didn't prevent it being reported back to GPG Towers that Marketing claim BIAS have welcomed changes to the club badge.

It has been further claimed that the badge was personally selected/endorsed by Matthew Benham from a final set of choices and the Matthew clamped down on supporters getting a say on the selection of a new badge.....a claim that "sources close to Matthew" have stated as "not correct".

Once again we are in a situation where the supporters of the club are being ridden roughshod over in our identity by "marketing". To me and maybe others this is "sub-optimal". If the Kurtatron needs to display a new badge then our loyal supporters need to be involved in deciding i) if we need a new badge and why would we need that and ii) input as to our new identity.

In the meantime, here is the leaked new badge*:

Not entirely sure of all the points in the gripe, many a person sports a tattoo of an ex, life moves on in so many ways.

When looking to change its impossible, impractical, expensive and unproductive to ask the entire client base of their opinion. At the end of the day some will adopt the change quickly, most will follow along and a few will always hark back to the good old days of such and such.

I don't profess to support the dark arts of marketing and this post is not to condemn or condone but the timing of the original post was to put it bluntly "pish" though you were perfectly entitled to inform the wider fan base of the proposed change.

I do often wonder who at the club is Keith Harris to your Orville :)

Best getting a new badge next season. waiting until we move would be too much. As long as the new badge looks decent on match of the day I'm good.

Who cares anyway? I'm sure whatever design MB chooses will be just fine. Seems like one person is making a fuss about it for reasons one can only guess.....

So long as we get a nice new red and grey striped home shirt to accompany the new badge then I'm happy.

Couldn't we revert to being Brentford Rowing Club with an appropriately-themed badge? Let's embrace our history, and it would probably make us more acceptable to folk in Strand-on-the-Green and Kew.

Not too bothered about a new one, the current one is fine by me.

Dont like the castle one.

I think it will be like the round one with the bee and stripes. 70's?

Shouldn't this thread bee closed now. It's been superseded. The design originally proferred by Banana was completely incorrect, and I think the scaremongering because he misled us in that design did take the gloss off THAT match at QPha. I'll probably get banned now for sleighting 'the boss'!

Did anyone really think that the design suggested by Banana was anything but a joke??..........

No one posted on it for two weeks. Then you bump it asking for it to be closed. Takes all sorts I suppose.
