Expectation for Season 2019/20.

With just over 2 weeks until the season starts but 3 weeks until the transfer window ends what are your realistic expectations for the season ahead?

My view is if we can keep somehow keep hold of Maupay and Benrahma and get our midfield scoring more goals, I honestly believe we will challenge for the automatic promotion.

I have been impressed with all our signings so far (on paper). The club has clearly focused on the problem issues last year and if we can win even 6/7 more games away than last year I honesty believe we can challenge for the top 2. Play offs should be be our minimum aim.

It is however a surreal feeling that this is our last season at GP. I somehow still can't my head around it. It will be a an emotional season for sure. Let's hope it is a memorable season also.

The one team I actually is fear is Fulham, Mitrovic staying and at this level is a big coup for them where he will score goals for fun makes them a big threat.

I think Bristol City have recruited well and Cardiff will also be up there. I can't see Leeds doing as well as they did last year.

From the (absolute dire, turgid, depressing) times I've had, with many others, following this beloved club since the last 70's, I envisage another season of quality football that I'm proud to bring my son and his mates to watch.....whilst converting his Man U, Liverpool, Man City etc supporting mates into Brentford supporters.

It's a special club and we play great football which young lads, like my son and his mates who all play good football at a very high standard....simply love it as much as the old man that takes them.

Something tells me we should be aiming for auto promotion. My heartfelt worry is that if we make the playoffs and go out with a second leg defeat at GP that would put a real dampener on our last ever game at the old girl.

Given our excellent signings so far, I feel a play off spot is very doable. Then it will depend on who is the team with the most momentum.

My biggest concern is that we suffer another bad run of 10 plus game that takes us out of contention.

It's all about consistency for me, over a long 46 game season.

4 points each from QPha, Fulham, Reading, Luton, Millwall and Charlton will be a nice bonus as well.

Keep this squad then I am convinced top 6. Replacing Maupays goals (if he leaves) will be hard but with a tighter defence then maybe we can afford a reduced return from his replacement. With the type of players we are being linked with I am excited regardless.

A good start to the season where we show improved solidity at the back and cut the all to frequent mistakes from last season out, hopefully around top 10 by Christmas and then just see what happens from there!

This is a pretty fair assessment of the strong teams IMO, Cardiff will do a Cardiff and likely be up there from pure Warnockism IMO, Fulham will have to battle against the negative mindset of losing so many games last year, but their team is decent. Bristol like us have threatened to challenge but haven't quite made it so far. I think they are the stand out options so far.

Leeds possibly, but it depends on their signings.

I think our defence will be much stronger than last season which in turn should help to improve our away record. In theory that's all we need to do given how strong our home record was last season. Obviously there's a question mark going forwards if we lose key players. My sense is we could cope with losing one, but not both, of Maupay and Benrhama and still challenge for the top few spots. I have high hopes for Watkins this season (I think he was hampered by injuries a bit last year) so we have enough quality in the front 3 even if one of them goes and we replace with an unknown quantity.

I also feel the league overall is a bit weaker this season (comparing the promoted to the relegated clubs). So on that basis, my expectations at the moment are top 6.

Just to offer a glimmer of hope on that front. Last season Leeds top scorer was roofe with 14 whilst we had maupay on 25. Tigthen up at the back and share the goals out abit more which we are capable of and its all good

I really can't imagine that to be the case. In just about every interview – and from many players' social media utterings – the focus so far has been on defensive shape and recovery. It's clear that we have to concede less goals but there's also mention of transitions and speed of counter-attack. Signing Jansson in super-quick time when the opportunity arose to add to a proper defensive holding midfielder show a real focus. The powers that be will do their best to add more attacking threat should we lose one or both of Neal and Saïd.

Now, there’s clearly a need for more up front, particularly if Maupay and Benrahma go, but we came into this division with a whole bunch who’d barely played at this level, if at all many of whom turned out amazing. We can do it.

Good to be reminded of this. We have absurd levels of talent in our squad this year, off pitch stability, a fantastic recruitment team, a good (at least) head coach, money still to spend, and the other teams in the league are mostly broke or broken or just plain rubbish. The idea that we are going to struggle just because we might flog our latest in a long line of centre forward discoveries is next level pessimism.
