I completely forgot it was the FA cup final tomorrow. Yester year this was one of the biggest events in the English football calendar.

Really would love it (although not a fan at all) if Watford win tomorrow. Man City and their oil money is everything that is wrong football. The real Man City I know was the team we beat 3-1 in that FA Cup tie at GP. What a day on and off the pitch.

Early kick off (compared to last 6 years)

BBC have the Eurovision at 8 pm and don't want a clash

Very little interest in this. Not a patch on the playoff games.

I totally agree. Going gardening at my MILs house tomorrow. No interest at all. Like MotD these days. Will only change if the Bees reach the Premiership. Quite like the Quest coverage of the Championship this season.

If Watford win, would that knock Manure out of the Europa League?
Or only if Watford and Chelsea win?
Or not at all?

I can get on board with wanting Watford to win, but not Chelsea.

I'll keep one eye on it while enjoying a few ales and some good music at the Crystal Palace FC Beer Festival at Selhurst Park.

Yeah I know, I used to watch the build up the night before then all day Saturday. Now it is one of a thousand live games and about half way down in my interest levels. I will watch but probably whilst messing about with my phone. It was unthinkable not to watch it years ago but I have missed a few over the years in recent times.

Anyway, Man City to cruise to a 3.0 win and then we watch them jump around as if it is the biggest win in their history. Boring.

Big screen in Cassiobury Park for Watford fans, so I'm told. Not that this is of the least interest to anybody here. :sneakoff:

The last place which is on offer for the Europa League normally goes to the EFL Cup Winners

This last place has to play six Thursdays in a row starting from July 25th to qualify for Group Stages

The FA Cup Winners and 5th place in the PL go directly into the Group Stages

As Man City won the EFL Cup then this last spot goes to 6th Place (Man United)

IF Man City win the FA Cup then this last spot goes to 7th Place (Wolves)

Arsenal COULD go one better and get into the CL If they beat Chelsea

If this happens then we will only have 2 places in the EL next season

Fair play to the BBC they are giving loads of coverage of the build up today, pretty much all afternoon is scheduled for the build up and they have been covering it on BBC Breakfast as well. They are at least trying to re-instate the game to what it used to be.

It’s an afterthought now, so devalued once Utd were allowed to pull out of it.
As a kid and right through the 90’s it was still one of the highlights of the year.
Club player of the year awards were always the night before and then everyone met up in the pub the next day and did it all over again.

Now it’s just another game at the end of the season I’m afraid

Have to say not overly bothered, although for historic reasons would prefer Watford to get stuffed.

The Cup has been totally devalued over recent years with everyone fielding weakened teams and concentrating on league results. In the Premier league you are better off moving one place up tne league financially rather than winning the cup!! hence the lack of interest by managers till the end

Unfortunately, apart from supporters, there is no magic left in the cup and unless there is a dramatic turnaround in sponsorship I would hazard a guess it will become more irrelevant as each season passes

I'd probably have more interest if it wasn't moneybags City.
Even if it was Arsenal v Watford I'd probably have considerably more interest.
Having said that, the past couple of weeks of CL and playoff games has taught me not to write off matches too soon, so it'll be on in the background, as a passing interest, in case it turns into a cracker like almost every game in the past two weeks.

Just don’t let me down City. A win with a clean sheet will do nicely

So Wolves miss out on a EL place if Watford win. Is that right ?

Shame the way its been devalued over the years. Not really bothered but have a funny feeling Andre Gray is scoring the winner.
Out of interest anyone know the last ex-Bees player to play in the final.
Stewart Houston?

In the Sports Bar at Centre Parcs, certainly seems plenty of interest in it here......although I imagine, much like myself, that if it was Macclesfield v Crewe in the final it would still be full.....see you in a couple of hours kids

The first mention of Brentford and the game hasn't even started yet.

That Man City bench is ridiculous.

I was at the 69 final when Man City last won the cup. I clearly remember the M City fans singing ‘He’s fat, He’s short, He waddles when he walks, Franny Lee. Franny Lee.’ I won the ticket for writing an essay demonstrating, beyond all reasonable doubt that Brentford are by far the finest football team the world has ever seen. I was sat right behind a steel stanchion, but I flew the flag stoically.

That's the chance that Watford needs to take.

I think I know what I'd be saying to Sterling at half time regarding this 2nd goal.
Nicking it off a team mate to be the guy that scored at a Wembley Cup Final.
Every striker worth his salt would claim it.

IMO it was just over the line before Sterling touched it.
