Exactly .. his words were “if I had to support a team it would be brentford”

He ain’t no Brentford fan .. good try
The question was asked in context of him narrating the Spurs documentary and as you say, his demeanour is that he’s not in to football.

Then again, he could have just as easily have said I’m not into football to save picking a team, however what he did say given the choice, he’d opt for Brentford. Given Fulham is probably closer to East Sheen, I’d be willing to add him to the famous fans list as an honorary member.Tenuous I know but probably a better bet than Diaz…

His wife is a smoggy btw and from a family of boro fans…

Glory hunter, was born in Hammersmith although I can see why he would say Brentford, well done the future 007.
I too was born in Hammersmith. It usually means Queen Charlotte's on Wikipedia and it does In my case. I grew up in Chiswick in the old Borough of Brentford Chiswick.

My two kids were born in the old West London Hospital in the middle.of Hammersmith, and have Hammersmith on their birth certificates. They haven't ended up supporting the team closest to their birthplace, I'm pleased to say.

Yes, there's that too. My sister's two eldest and my brother's eldest were born there too. Another one. I'd imagine Hammersmith Hospital on Ducane Road will count too and it's where QC's moved to when the old building was turned into flats.

Given that there have been nigh on 1/2 million people registered as born in Hammersmith up to 2008 and we're not all famous, maybe someone cleverer than me could set up a separate thread with a poll before this one gets too cluttered...?

According to Clare Balding, her wife Alice Arnold, who
"... had shown zero interest in Premier League football, has proclaimed herself a committed [Bees] fan. She is now proudly sporting a red and white scarf knitted by a friend who has supported Brentford all her life. Alice now chants 'Come on the Bees' at every opportunity, checks the results and demands that we listen to commentary or follow online updates. She is rating all the players and top of her current list is Yoane Wissa."

Which is sweet.

Until you take a quick look at her Twitter account, where she proudly proclaims her love of Watford FC....

Doh!

I'll slap my own wrist!

Oh well, at least it means her application should sail through the next meeting of the Celebrity Membership Vetting Committee, :sorted:
Except she's not a celebrity - her wife is.

... as opposed to Rick Wakeman or the bloke from Quo?
Depends which bloke from Quo. Rossi or Parffit like Wakeman every has heard of = famous a celebrity. Rhino - not many will know as a household name but we Bees know him. Some lady who used to be on radio 4 10 years ago? Come on I listen to radio 4 and had no clue who she was but I did know Clare Balding was married to a lady called Alice. HTH.

Is non-one concerned about the terrible levels of memory this woman has? Why is she checking the results if she does all that?

We talking about Clare or her wife? In any case half the people that appear in Celebrity TV programmes I've never heard of. No wait more than that - 2/3rds
Both of them.
I'd never heard of her before that either, but I don't know any of the people you just mentioned either so maybe they aren't that famous either. Unless Rhino is the fella from Gladiators

Very concerned yes. And why does Alice DEMAND Clare listens to the commentary as well? Why should Clare have to listen to it too? She’s a busy woman. And Alice “chants ‘Come on the Bees’ at EVERY OPPORTUNITY”. That must be non-stop all day & night then, that is bullying. Awful for Clare to have that racket going on if she is trying to learn her lines, do a sudoku or God forbid has to give someone some sad news. This Alice person is a tyrant. It sounds like a toxic relationship and Balding is better off out of it.

Imagine the daily scenario as Balding wakes up each morning, rolls over in bed to Alice, kisses her on the cheek and says "Morning love, sleep well"?

Alice: "COME ON THE BEES"!!!

No wonder Balding is on TV so much, probably cant wait to get out the house.

I like her on Celebrity Gogglebox.
I've never seen an episode of Gogglebox. Therefore I don't give my support to anyone appearing on there being either famous or a celeb 😋

But will he turn up on a Saturday afternoon in November?
Thank goodness we have at least one erudite and literary poster on this board!

I was beginning to despair that my reference was a bit too "Jude" for everyone...

Until last year, I lived in the same road as them, just a few doors up. I often saw one or both out walking their dog, so Alice is not just famous in her own household, but famous in her own street!

Though we cannot claim Archie the Dog as a famous Bees fan, since the poor mutt died earlier.

Thanks for that. So hardly a current or even recent person in the public eye. I rest my case.
I think being a writer and broadcaster makes you "in the public eye" and "famous" even if you are not exactly a household name. If it really matters. I don't listen to Radio 4 and I've heard of her. "Celebrity" might be pushing it but the title of the thread just says famous supporters.
