Following on from the new that Harry Wilson's grandad put £50 on at 2500-1 on Harry playing for Wales and has just won £125K I was wondering what odds I would get on Farid starting a game before I am a grandad?:fishing:

It's is well known that for a player to show his true worth ....he must have a decent run of games in the team...ie..5/6 games on the trot.....Farid...Fillo...Hayes....to name a few...it is not really rocket science.......YOU REDS...

I imagine Farid is hanging around to see who comes in when Rosler goes.

Terrible that the manager has publicly stated several times that he doesn't want to play him as it forces us to go long.

And with a manager who preaches passing football (even if it is generally dire football anyway), Farid must feel so unwanted. Which is awful for our top scorer.

Pleased to see him make the extra effort to acknowledge the fans at the end of the game today. At least he knows we are with him and just as baffled by the situation.

Hope he starts on Tuesday. 8 minutes here and there are useless for him, he might as well spend the day on the beach.

This lad just gets better and better with every game he doesn't play. If he continues to improve at the current rate of games he's not playing, he must be looking at an international bench some time surely?

Equally as amazing that despite the manager refusing to play him, he still has scored more goals than Grigg and Trotta put together.

Much the same as Grella did two years ago, he's done well since he left 😳

Welcome back H and if that's a case I quite agree with him, I read it as a bit of a dig at Farid tbh as Grella has continued to struggle to keep his career afloat since leaving us bar one purple patch for Bury.

Well, I've still not seen anything that makes me think he's a messiah.

I'm sure Dagenham or Wimbledon will take him ?
He's much better than that. Despite his lack of game time, IMO he still has a part to play here. He has attributes the other strikers don't but it's up to him to force himself into the starting line up.

I think Grigg has to make way for him. Alagui is straining at the leash for a start, had a chance 2 minutes after coming on, and Grigg hasn't really done enough to cement his place in the team.

10 minutes at the end of a game we are winning and have gone into cruise control isn't the best moment to show your worth. You can't get on the end of a cross when Saunders is dribbling the ball into the corner flag.

To be fair to Farid as well, I thought he played a good part in Kadeem's goal by making a run to the front post and forcing the defender to go with him. Yes it still needed a wonderful cross and great finish but Farid facilitated that IMO.

Quite right Long John;). I do believe it was Shouldbee's attempt at ironic humour but it is difficult to tell. He's scored last minute point savers as a sub, scored goals when started against 'mickey mouse' clubs in the cups and hasn't had any opportunity despite those selected ahead of him not exactly being prolific. I think Uwe's made his mind up and I don't think Farid will get the opportunity to force himself into the starting XI.

I can see him going to Northampton on a free in January when Norris has returned here to be on the bench

He's one of only three contracted first team forwards, why?

No one knows whether he's a messiah or not because we've not seen him pitted against League One opposition for more than a few minutes each time.
It may be that he doesn't come up to scratch but at least give him a chance to prove himself.

If he was allowed to leave, which would upset me a lot, he would could play a lot higher than that.. I am at a lose to why he get's written off time and time again when he's hardly played, when he has played he has scored goals..:(

He was going to come on for Trotta at 1.0 and was stripped and ready, then trotta scored so he sat him back down again. To be fair it would have been harsh if trotta had got the hook at that point as he was looking the most likely to score.

Farid has earned his chance IMO and I am amazed given our magic roundabout of squad rotation that he hasnt managed to get a start TBO.

Without mentioning the 'T' word, I too cannot understand why Farid has not had more opportunity, he certainly showed he was fit enough in the Wimbledon cup game. Perhaps his style would be suited to tomorrow's game at Brizzle, away from home and all that? But I am not holding my breath.

I feel sorry for farid, great player proves his worth more than Grigg. Rosler never seems to play him rather Donaldson and farid up front every week.

In all fairness I think he meant it as in the colloquial sense rather than literally suggesting that Farid is the next Ronaldo or Lionel Messi"Farid's a great player:)

No I wasn't being ironic, do you really believe if Uwe thought he was better than the others he wouldn't put him in ?..............this thread reminds me of Nathan Elder. Some posters were going completely over the top about how he ought to be in the team, what a really nice guy he was. Fact was he's was never good enough and his career history has proved the point.
Somebody started the ball rolling and now everyone's jumping on the Farid bandwagon, I've no doubt he's a decent fella but in IMO, Clayton, Grigg and Trotta are better.

Nathan was ok at our level at the time .I dont think the remodelling of his face did much to enhance his career though .

Perhaps two of the three strikers you mention need to prove how much better than Farid they actually are because I haven't seen much evidence of it so far and it is a simple fact that he has scored more goals than both of them put together and in Grigg's case in far fewer starts as well. Trotta showed glimpses on Saturday and took his goal well but that's it up to this point.

Don't know how many times people have to spell it out....No one is saying Farid is the messiah or will win us promotion singly handedly etc but IMO he merits an opportunity to start a few games and show us what he can do. I have seen nothing to say that he can't and a decent scoring record with us to say that he can.

He's probably in the first team squad tonight, hence no inclusion for the Dev Squad. Then again, that probably means Fillo and Reeves are left out of the squad for tonight, thought they were always in and around the 16?

I assume that Taylor is fit as well as Nugent misses out.
