Brentford Football Club can confirm the signing of Fin Stevens from Worthing with the 17-year-old set to join Neil MacFarlane’s Brentford B on a two-year contract with a club option of a one-year extension.

Discussing Fin’s arrival at the club, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane says he is delighted to have captured the exciting young talent. He said: “Fin is somebody with a very good character and I believe that he’ll be good for the dressing room.

“He has been playing men’s football at the age of 16, which is fantastic, and that will have given him a lot of good experience. That can only stand him in good stead to come and deal with the physicality of things, and not only that, he’s been playing in a winning team. Before the lockdown Worthing were going to win the league, and that’s a really good thing because that will add to the winning culture. We’ll be able to add to his experiences at Brentford B with the variety of the games programme and the training that we have.”

Men's football at 16? They probably thought that he was the mascot when he came out of the tunnel.

Kid clearly has some talent and will count as a home-grown player after a few years, right?

Reports from Worthing are that Brighton and Wolves were keen.

Whatever happens on wed (and we will win), our club's future will be bright and the new B-team recruits will hopefully eventually play a big part in that. Welcome onboard the roller coaster Fin and others.

To have secured a player of that age for three years, we clearly have high hopes.

Hope we have compensated Worthing accordingly, great to see us still picking up talent from that level.

I notice he left Arsenal's academy at 15 to originally join Worthing's under 18's but was so good got in their first team.

With the Arsenal upbringing and proving he has the physicality to play men's football at a young age an exciting prospect.

Preseason game at some point in the future.

As long we haven't got the names round the wrong way and signed the Middlesex bowler everything be fine

He was excellent for the whole 120 minutes, no way would you know he was only 17. I dont think we need to be looking for a right back, to replace/platoon with Dalsgaard. I think Fin is close to being ready. If Southampton was next week, I would give him some gametime even if it was only the last 30 minutes

I understand this lad was very highly thought of at Worthing and both Brighton and Wolves were said to be interested in signing him. He looks a real prospect and I have a feeling he could be one to watch .

Only 10 minutes to go on but he can be well pleased with his contribution this evening. He must have made an impression in his brief time at the club to trusted. He won't be 18 until next April.

A good sign if he's getting minutes at 17, looked composed as well from what I saw. I liked his interplay in their half with Dasilva (I think) near the end.

Hopefully he can keep taking steps to be the Fin-ished product.

I thought his tackle near the end to win the ball was excellent. Too early to see how his career pans out but immediately something about him and credit to TF for bringing him on.
It was a big statement to bring him on. Said didn’t have to come off. Toney or Halil could have been given some game time. Fulham’s most dangerous play had come down our right so putting Fin on both took the mickey out of Fulham and said, you might be 17 but We can trust you to be fine out there.

Extremely early days but ( and I so hate the word 'but')........ With the right attitude and the expected continued development ..... we have a great star on our hands.

17 year old, three months at the club and looks after Lookman ( Who I would suggest was the ONLY hope for the Putney neighbours.)

Lets just enjoy while he is here. May not be long.

Not enough time on the pitch to get a proper look at him as a player but didn’t look terrible. At his age it’s just great for him to get minutes.

With Dalsgaard our only fit right back currently I’m guessing he will train regularly with the first team. That will be great for him. If he can get the odd cameo on top of that it’ll be amazing for his development given the B team is currently in stasis.

Is that the best you can say about a kid who has gone from non league to playing a prem side in a few month aged 17 and didn’t look out of place? Hate to think what you’d say if he had played badly!

Came on after the game was won, wasn’t really tested but looked fine.

Point being you can’t say he was great - but others with his lack of experience would have stood out as out of their depth whereas he didn’t.

Tenacious during his brief cameo. Didn't seem afraid to get into the box near the end there. Seems a great prospect for the future.

No disrespect.

While not negative but.......

Please step back, think about a 17 year old playing - sorry making his debut - against a Premier League team (sinks in the throat but..) who has been at the club for a three months............

I have a 22nd year old boy. I can only dream about him having the maturity never mind the ability at 22 never mind 17!

As posted earlier. We may (IMHO highly likely) to have a star on our hands. Please, for a 17 year old , loads to positive

My point was to highlight that others of a similar age with similar lack of experience would have stood out like a sore thumb. He didn’t and that’s great. I’m not going to pretend he was MOTM though!

Understand. Maybe it was the wording.

I must admit I am not the brightest.

I just want to give massive encouragement, where it is due to our future

Interesting that TF gave him his first minutes tonight. There was no pressure to do that. One wonders if they wanted to see him at this level to help assess if he could be temporary backup (with Fosu maybe) to Dalsgaard whilst Mads recovers. In any event the club clearly rate him very highly.

An impressive debut cameo. Had the confidence of an established first teamer. Looking forward to seeing more of him.

Not impressed. At 17 I had gotten my PhD, was lecturing at Cambridge, and had racked up 60 appearances for Inter Milan. Not to mention that Grammy nod. Fin has a lot of work ahead of him.
Yes but was Trunkey your idea or were you a dragon who rejected it?

Fair comment. Careful though. The first time I saw Tom Field, I went well overboard with my predictions for his future.

I totally agree. Some people or so easily impressed. I'll defer judgement until he surpasses Kevin O'Connor's appearance record.

Somehow I get the feeling he'll get an international call up later in the season...he's from Brighton, so hopefully England. Something about his name can't help but scream "Republic of Ireland" though.

There is a lot of good players in Worthings academy and no doubt the BFC scouts are monitoring.
I think Finn will be 1st team squad very very soon.
He is very good going forward as well and I think he is a top top prospect.

I thought he’s Northern Ireland.
