There isn’t one.

The players didn’t turn up. None of them.

We deserved nothing and got nothing.

Different team. Same old Brentford.

As they say: It’s Brentford innit.

Mods... I'm going to sign off in a minute. I don't envy your job. I'm going to stay well out of it. But please, close down threads like this as soon as they appear. Shameful respect for the efforts of our boys this season. Not easy gpgers, but keep your dignity, and praise the boys for what they have given us this season. Onwards and upwards,

Different team but same old Brentford in a final.

So frustrating that we didn’t manage to get decent possession throughout the game

Berkshire, Lboro was my uni!
Our original nickname was once the B’s as in the letter B.
It would be within rights to change it to Bottlers, as that’s what the facts show over the past 35 years.
I’ll always be there but that’s what we are.
Whoever the lads are, can’t all psychologically turn up on the day, even for the Lada minibus vans paint trophy.
ps sorry I’m just so disappointed.

Two years of rebuilding and then we'll have another go. Didn't think we were ready this time around. But we'll be back stronger.

Both teams cagey, both teams nervous. We didn't do great, looked OK in parts but not really. Can't really say we deserved much from it. How maybe it could have been different with fans.

Eh well, I do think we should take a step back though and assess. We will lose players, we will carry on in the Championship. Benrahma and Watkins can go on to have their Prem careers and both deserve it. It will hurt when they leave, but the Brentford model goes on.

I do suspect certain fanbases will become quite irritating over the next few months (Leeds, I'm looking at you) but we had a bit of fun when they dropped off the previous season so let's see.

Please take time though to think, and please don't have a go at Raya etc on social media. That's the last thing that we need.

Up the bees and see you next season!

I'm surprisingly mellow. Football without the fans is just not the same and as a supporter, promotion to the Premier League is all about visiting the new grounds. Getting promoted without that too look forward to would be somewhat hollow. I think the vast majority of the squad will stick around for another season, helped by the truncated transfer window, our high player valuations and the reduced spending ability of clubs due to Covid.

Fulham were the better team tonight and good luck to them next season. Good luck to the players that leave, but we have shown time and again that we know how to recruit and it would not surprise me one jot if we were to find players that even better than what we have. It wasn't to be today, but our time will come.

Worst moment for me was when Bryan was crowing in his post-match about how he and Parker planned to beat Raya that way because they knew he always comes too far forward. Sickening to know we fell down on something like that.

Don't really believe we'd of held our nerve if it went to penalties anyway, looked shaky the entire night.

Just glad I don't have to care about football for the next few weeks.

First 30 minutes and then their free kick.

We below a great opportunity over the last 2 games of the regular season and tonight but....best finish since 1948, new stadium and some very good players. And a lot of money coming in for a few transfers. Lots to be excited about.

Got to say that deep down not surprised. But 9 times now. How much more can we take. This was a poor performance tonight, and the players did not turn up. Credit to Fulham they deserve it. But all the talk about starting fast and we are ready. Shame the players did not buy into it.

Totally devastated and feeling very low tonight. But most of all feel let down. Please no more playoffs.

The better team won, get over it. Our time will come. We’ll get promoted when we can be at the games.

Not much to like there. Played badly throughout, just sorry an individual error cost us. Tough to take. Get pissed, moan about it, get back behind the best Brentford side we've ever seen next year. YOU BEES!

You can see after a few minutes what sort of performance we are going to get. Started slow tonight and nothing got better.
Against Swansea we started at 100mph and that continued. Its been like this for a long time.
Maybe Mr Caulfield has the answer.

Well at 72 years of age I have been waiting 66 years for our time in the top division and just hope we make it whilst I am still on this earth !! :D

We just didn't get started tonight and both teams tended to cancel each other out and our midfield just did not create anything for Ollie to feed off.

Roll on next season...

For me it's the over confidence of our fans and media and players that makes this all more sickening setting ourselves up to be laughed at. I knew this was going to be a lot tougher than everyone thought. I'll be staying off social media for a while

We go into next season knowing we will improve. We have a lot to be happy about. I’ve watched the Bees at Bury, Wigan, Aldershot to name a few, think how they feel.

If you had been born a couple of years earlier you would have caught us in the top flight last time around! :D :D

But tell me honestly - in those 66 years has there been a better time being a Brentford fan?

That was it for me too. We've seen it in recent games where that pattern is set early on and we don't seem to be able to change it. Why on earth we didn't up the pace when Fulham should have been more knackered than us, I don't know.

Hope crept in as the match continued that Fulham were too crap to score, but in truth, we didn't threaten all night. The quote of 'leaving everything out on the pitch' and 'attack' just didn't seem to ring true. Once we are stopped from playing out from the back, we know it'll probably end up 0-1, and that would have been about right. What is annoying is that their players are not better than ours, but they adapted their tactics well and it looks like their experience helped out in the end.

I'm going to be very middle aged here (sorry!) but honestly, people taking the piss out of you on Twitter means nothing. Rise above it.

I remember those dark days of BUTCHER ERA and THE NOADES EPISODES so perhaps tonight is not so bad.

Well you have just a few years on but I hope we both get see our club in the top flight. Whilst we have progressed over recent years it always seems like we have underachieved with the ever improving talent we have on the pitch. Of course we are Brentford and we go again

Parker got his team and tactics right. Even down to their first goal. Keeper comes a long way off his line if we get a fk out wide whip it in to the near post. Spot on, good research. Well executed. We seemed to lack energy and kept losing the ball. Jenson was anonymous and Said so well marshalled he rarely offered anything. Anyway there's always next season. Starts tomorrow I think.

The sad thing is, that was by far our best play off final performance yet. We just don't do play offs and never will. I've been saying it for years. Auto promotion or forget it. People say our play off glory will surely one day come. I firmly believe it never will which is why I didn't allow myself to get too wound up about tonight. Or the last two times and it's why I won't if it happens again.

Playoffs are a good thing...just because we're bad at them doesn't mean they should be scrapped.

And yes, we will eventually win one. Each one has a 1/4 chance though so it won't automatically happen at the next one. England broke the penalty shootout hoodoo, we'll eventually break the one...

Margins. Next season we will re-build with skill, system and no dickheads. As we are promoted at least one of Leeds, WBA or Fulham will pass us going in the opposite direction.

Losing a play off final yet again, feeling numb, but not surprised as been here before(!), but this time, thinking - I get to see the Bees playing in the Championship again and not in Leagues 1 or 2. :)

Fulham were just as buoyant before the game as we were and just as cack on it. You are always going to get sh*t afterwards.

We are perpetual bottlers and chokers in the big games.

TF takes some blame for letting Parker own the midfield with the extra man and not responding until 60 mins, we were stil 0.0 so he got away with it. The players take some blame for not turning up again, partly due to the formation but so many stray passes, the CM not taking the ball so we went long etc etc. The keeper takes the blame for making a mess in the most important game of our lives, why today, why didn't it go 6 inches wide? The ref takes some blame for not dishing out 3 red cards.

It is not black and white it is a grey mix of many things and it feels that every time it all goes against us.

Maybe we need to look at players who have won promotion before, Pontus is supposed to be the game changer but has only ever experienced falling apart with Leeds and not winning promotion and losing PO's. Again a young team have bottled in whereas Fulham with far inferior players in just about every position have scraped their way to a PO win with 9 players in their squad who have won it in the past.
