Came across a quote on Twitter linkng Flemming Pedersen (formerly from FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark and FC Mainz in Gernamy) to the head of philosophy role. I've found this link to a Danish article about it, which Google Translate has made some sense of - it suggests Mr Pedersen will join on 1st July:

Disclosure: Brentford retrieves Danish coach

The English Championship club picks Danish blood in the form of former FC northern Zealand and Mainz coach Flemming Pedersen.

The link between English Brentford and Danish football gets 1 July another dimension.

Championship side has in Matthew Benham same owner as FC Midtjylland. The employees of a month ago Rasmus Ankersen, the chairman of FC Midtjylland, as director, and now there will also soon Danish dynamite in the dugout.

According TV3SPORTs information accedes Flemming Pedersen thus Brentford per. July 1. With the prestigious title of 'Head of Football Philosophy' or translated into Danish: Head of development of playing style.

The experienced coach has in recent years worked closely with Kasper Hjulmand. First as an assistant at FC Nordsjælland and then in German Mainz, where the duo (and Keld Bordinggaard, ed.) Was fired back in February.

Brentford were in the just ended season close to promotion to the Premier League, but stumbled in the play-off games against Middlesbrough. In the ambitious English club comes Pedersen to work closely with the Dutch trænerduo Marinus Dijkhuizen and Roy Hendriksen, as Rasmus Ankersen fetched three weeks ago.

On the playing front, there may also very well be stuff to a Dane in the center. The latest bulletins is that national team stops Andreas Bjelland may be on the way to Brentford. Perhaps as early as next week.

Also read: U21: Here comes England back towards Portugal

If trade between the stop's current employer Twente and the English falls into place, Flemming Pedersen received his first important piece in his new job of developing Brent Ford's style of play. Bjelland was a central figure in FC Nordsjællands way to play football, after he (and Pedersen) three years ago won Superligae

Hope we have some sort of success the coming season. Hope we don't become the laughing stock and the but of all jokes.

In days gone by to me was only one Philosophy in football and that was to win your games. Yes time do change and let's hope we are one of the front runners.

I'm sure most people would understand a title of Head of Development - maybe he should be called that instead.

Sod what the outsiders think, if they want to laugh let them. We know that our club has taken enormous strides forward in recents years and with MB's continued input anything is possible. This new position could be called Head of kicking footballs for all I care.

I know he hasn't signed yet, but surely it's the responsibility of other clubs' fans to twist his name into something rude. The same goes for our new head coach.

So his job is to teach Marinus how to suck eggs?
No it would be making sure that a consistent approach is applied at every level and players recruited fit in with the philosophy. This isn't just a first team role.

Often called Technical Director, too. Actually quite a common position in top Premier League clubs. Maybe "philosophy" is lost in translation but it probably is the correct description for a job that is to develop and ensure a consistent technical playing style throughout the club.

Bound to wind up the dinosaurs, though!

I thought this role was previously in the JD of the Director(s) of Football?

We are certainly discovering our Amor fati these days....
Yep, but then I've always liked big birds!

Glad to see we're fully embracing the new ways and hope to see a kicking coach soon.
Why don't all clubs have one?

It's a categorical imperative to hire someone to get the style right throughout the club.

Yes that's it . MB hasn't got a clue, inevitably it will end up with squabbling and the wheels coming off. No doubt by January we will have reverted to having a Manager who just builds his team playing his way using MBs money , fails, is replaced by another manager who wants to build his own team playing his wAy using MBs money, fails, is replaced etc. as for the managers pick from Bruce, Reid, Pearce, Coyle, Jewell etc.
This is just not sustainable and MB Is not daft enough to begin pouring money into a machine that eats it without any return. This is new and we are so lucky to be the club doing it. After 55 years I have never been more excited or proud of our club. No longer do I say Brentford and people look at you quizzically or pityingly now now they are interested. Join in and learn just like the rest of us.

I love the fact we are daring to be different. We could try the QPR (and others) route of spending vast amounts of money (we don't have) on the same old merry go round of players who have long since lost any ambition to achieve big things in the game. Or we could try something different. The first route always fails in the end. Who knows how our chosen route will go. The pundits certainly don't!

I'm with u. First game 52 years ago, season ticket holder for quite a few and then drifted into the wilderness with just the odd game. Back last season with my 17 year old daughter and our season tickets then a miracle when my 14 year old daughter discovered the beautiful game. Now it's 3 season tickets for the new season and we already have our train tickets to Norwich booked. It was a dream last season but now I'm excited. Can see us coming unstuck against Ipswich and Bristol City will be up for it but given time I think this is going to work. Bring on the dead ball coach and maybe a player or two tall enough to get on them.

The aim being transcendence in the face of the death of God!

Perhaps we are aiming a bit high: away wins and Fulham and Ras would do me fine!

Google translate. Sounds good. Any truth in the rumour season ticket owners are being offered free Danish and German lessons ?

If we finish 24th traditionalists will be laughing themselves senseless. I don't expect that though.
