Forest are a good side but the match was there for us to get a result today, Raya had little to do.

That’s the frustrating thing. We defended well for the most part - and had some pretty spells on the ball.

But we didn’t really create any big chances. It’s a worry that we aren’t carving teams open like we have done for the last few years.

Then to concede from a set piece, very soft.

Henry and Norgaard were particularly good.
Watkins and Dalsgaard were particularly poor.

We need to create more opportunities up front. Defensively we seem fine really, but we just lacked anything of any substance in front of goal today. I know Ollie’s scored a few but today, not a peep from him, Said also not up to his previous high standards.
For all our intricate play, I sometimes wish we were more direct and posed a bit more of a threat. I know it’s not our way, but watching us against the better sides is becoming very tedious.

Looking forward to getting a true reflection of the game, from these reports, rather than the drivel on Twitter.

Even the Twitter drivel is correct to the point that we dont look like scoring and the attacking free flowing football has disappeared.

Just because you dont agree with the twitter posts it doesnt mean its drivel. We are horrible to watch now. And I can only blame one man, sorry.

Thought overall it was a pretty average match between two average sides, apart from the goal can’t think of either keeper having a save to make

Forest were very well drilled and organised, sat back, letting us have the bal...looking to capitalise on mistakes which they did unfortunately

But we still had spells where we played nice football only to make the wrong decision in the final third but there were positives, norsgaard played really well today and I think we have the foundations to become a really good consistent team...although we need to improve on our crossing from set pieces...they were awful today

There was a lot of lazy passes going on today. JDS guilty of quite a few of those. Weirdly it was the easy passes we were screwing up. Saw this from a Forest fan on another forum and can’t fault its accuracy sadly, from an oppositions view:

“Brentford are class at one touch 5 yard pass and move, but once they have to pass over 20 yards they'd lose it. Strange making the hard stuff look like Barca and the easy stuff like piss heads.“

6 minutes injury time. 6 minutes! If we were 1-0 up at home going into that much injury time I’d be having kittens.

Yet we do nothing different and keep everything the same. Why not try two up top? Why not try send a centre half up? Why not try going long?

We keep doing the same thing that hasn’t looked like working in the previous 90 minutes. It’s so frustrating.

Thought Forest were probably the best team we have played this year, certainly the best Forest team that we’ve played in the last few seasons but we were poor today and created virtually nothing.

Actually we are very close to being a really good side the missing element is that in some games you need your striker to be strong and hold things up. Ollie is very good but cannot do that. Karelis could be that man. Fingers crossed and keep the faith. Long drive to Devon ahead

No point in setting up to be defensively strong away from home if you don’t counter attack and force the keeper to make a real save.

Noorgard was very good as were the defence at defending but we had no creativity and no threat up front.

They were very tidy but not good enough to challenge for promotion in any other season and the ref was diabolical but not the reason we lost.

Nottingham is still a great away day and the company before football was Premier League quality, sadly the 90 minutes was boring

Dull and boring. Raya was virtually untroubled...again. Jeanvier was the pick of the back four but a poor afternoon for Rico Henry. Norgaard very good in the middle, alongside a very mediocre Dasilva and Jensen. Zero creativity. As for the front three... could still have been out there now and the ball wouldn't be in the net.

The midfield is a big issue IMO. It may well improve with time, but currently, we lack movement, tempo and creativity. Norgaard is the exception and appears to be settling in very nicely after a slow start, but the two alongside him need to do an awful lot more.

watching on ifollow it didn't seem half as bad as people are making out on here. It was quite end to end and we were getting stuck in and trying to move the ball quickly. Norgaard was excellent I thought but Mbuemo is clearly still getting used to this level and again Canos was our main threat going forward. DaSilva is a bit of an odd one, looks like he should be a monster in midfield but too often looks a passenger and seems to get brushed off the ball despite his size. Ollie tried hard and linked up play at times but never really got into goalscoring positions. Defensively we looked fine until we totally switched off at a corner that looked a dubious decision (Pontus was unhappy). Mokotjo and Benrahma came on to try and change things but both looked knackered and had v little impact apart from giving the ball away. Karelis came on and made one excellent run pulling off his man in the box (oeer, one for Bigbee) but the CB just got a head to it before he could nod it in. Not sure what we can do to change things but I think we need to give Karelis a go up front after the break and find someone fit enough to play the box to box role between Norgaard and Jensen (Yearwood maybe?). It must be noted that we generally lost the third game in a week when playing away under Smith as we didn't have the squad to rotate enough. Currently we appear to be in the same position but hopefully with everyone fit we'll have better options. Not sure what's happened with Valencia? Surely must be worth a try as a sub as something a little different..

I do agree midfield is at the moment the problem area, ok Norgaard is improving, Jenson is not playing that well. Both Dasilva and Mokotjo blow hot and cold. Could it be that Yearwood is the missing player, player willing to run at players, so when are we likely to see the lad.

Although I agree both sides lacked quality today, what grated most was the lack of passion from Brentford and the loss of 1-2-1 battles across the pitch and 50/50 balls, which would never have been allowed by the likes of Jon Douglas and Alan McCormack in the past. Forest basically denied us space and got stuck in and we were left with scraps to feed off. The likes of Sergi, Said , Matthias Jensen , Bryan Mbuemo lack the physicality when the going gets tough and we were a soft touch today. Pontus needs to step up and show leadership, as I really worry about us when we are in a battle, rather in a football match. Which we proved v Barnsley and Bristol City which makes today's performance all the more disappointing.

Our away support is lifeless and I don’t know why. You used to be able to take pride in it but these days it’s embarrassing.

I think the league has got much tougher. I’m not sure either Douglas or McCormack playing as they did in 14-15 would look like much in 19-20. And they themselves were miles behind the top central midfielders even that season as we saw particularly against Middlesbrough.

I think we’re probably seeing why Frank stuck with 3 at the back for so long. We currently don’t have 3 fully fit CMs who are good enough on the day to play 4-3-3. God knows what’s happened to Mokotjo but he looks a shadow of his former self, DaSilva is looking quite a way off being a reliable starter and Yearwood is clearly a way off. I wouldn’t be totally averse to giving either Zamburek or Oksanen a go off the bench as both have energy and ability on the ball in midfield. We desperately need someone to link up between Norgaard and Jensen and allow Jensen to dictate play further up the field. As it is he’s making tackles on the edge of his own box!

yes pal - you think they deserve their position??? as i say two poor teams today imo
I thought we were solid generally at the back and worked very hard to restrict them to hardly any chances, they nicked it 1-0 and IMO that’s a sign of a side who will probably be up there this season. I don’t think they looked as good as Leeds though.

Exactly. These are two words I used quite a bit today. We were static and ponderous.

Their manager said it was Forest’s best performance of the season.

Probably very true. Not sure what people are getting too excited about. Still plenty of time and we’ve plenty of class. Norsgaard today was superb. Just need one or two others to be slightly more consistent and we’ll be up there. However these three match weeks seem to test us. I suspect we’re not as fit as some other teams and that impacts up physically and mentally.

Good day out today. Shame they got the result. Even managed some knitting.

that's what's so frustrating. Defended v well in general, you can see the whole team are working hard on that side, it's so different to last season but then we nod off again at a set piece and there's a man with a free header creating a shot at goal. We don't allow many chances but we give away at least one REAL gift every game.. If we'd got a 0-0 everyone would be saying 'hard fought point, excellent!'

I did like their song about the City Ground, particularly as we don’t have one about Griffin Park. I did think perhaps we should nick theirs, but....

For me I'm just Getting pissed off with our away form under Thomas Frank. Feel sorry for the fans that keep going away just to get nil points.

* Dull game with few efforts on goal
* Forest well organised but not too pretty on the eye - defenders lumping ball forward cynically on several occasions
* Brentford static, ponderous and lacking in imagination going forward - none of the dynamism glimpsed at at Barnsley
* Set pieces must get past the first defender FFS especially now we have an aerial threat (at least I think we do)
* Saïd needs to rein in the tricks. Tantamount to showboating today when something more direct was called for
* Norgaard progressing nicely
* Despite what others have said, Kamo provided a progressive link between midfield and attack when he came on today
* Raya continues to impress. Collects crosses with an ease which belies his height.
* Still slightly irritated about strange bloke accusing me of getting stroppy for no reason as I asked if I could go past him to find a seat

Just a few thoughts
