I think Frank sets the standard for new recruits, either as immediate challengers for a starting berth or with potential to get there within 12 months. There's absolutely no point in bringing in players as back-up, with Premier League experience or just-in-case, so we'll need to be patient and understanding with our Directors of Football.

If playing with wing backs would prefer fosu and canos as bring much more to our attacking play I love Henry best defender at the club but his crossing ability isn’t nowhere near canos

Lots of big clubs are looking for Kanté-type midfielders, who are quick and get around the pitch. If Onyeka can keep it up, he could be worth big big money in a couple of years.

As FCM signings go and comparing how Marcondes started for us versus how Frank the Tank has kicked off, Frank is off to a flier. Very very promising. Body language and endeavour all there.

You might find that they will be required to do more defending than attacking. The very knowledgable man on BT, Hoddle I think, said we had a very bad defence, and that we must look to improve it. I am sure he would approve of Mads in place of Sergie.

The Mighty glenn yes agree with both of you after going today henry was fantastic but we need a proper right back not canos we might have to put norgaard back in the back 3 until we can find another centre back aswell.

I thought the centre backs all played well. Canos is better at LWB than RWB but apart from their goal had a good game.

Played really well when he came on. He did make one rash challenge which could have got him into trouble but fortunately he ended up tackling thin air.

Wow some engine this guy has. He brought us to life in the second half and gave the platform for our attacking players to really trouble Valencia. Will have to watch the occasionally rumbustious tackling in the rarefied atmosphere of the Prem and VAR but this lad will be a big player for us this season. Nice finish as well.

Fair, though I think it is generally true regardless of what he says that Hoddle is a bit of a ringpiece. Or worse.

It was Teddy Sheringham I believe.
Hoddle has always been objectionable and his comments about disabled people whilst England manager were awful.

He was and ive read the post that makes a very good point about Hoddle as well.
However years ago my mate was Mascot at Spurs and we got to go in the players room.
Sheringham burst into the room and announced you wouldnt have lost if id played.
Then asked me and my mate if we wanted a proper players autograph whilst we were getting one from Sol Campbell who had just got into the first team.

No! It does however give us three full backs so there would be cover. In respect of that issue, yes it will improve the defence. Will he be likely better than MR, I do not know. Perhaps the question should be is he likely to be better that Thompson, although I do not have an answer to that question either, other than he is very likely to be. I do feel that there is a problem of cover for both full back positions, as I am unsure about both Canos and Thompson playing that position in the Premier League, for that reason, and that reason only the German may be the answer. What is highly likely is that either, or both full backs are unlikely to play all 38 games, so someone will have to deputise at some point during the season.

Having a top quality, young extra FB doesn’t hurt at all. I think Thompson could surprise- he’s looked decent in preseason and has good crossing ability from deep positions. We also need to remember we’re still a selling club and this summer is unusual in that no top player will be sold. If Rico has the storming season we all hope he has he’ll be in big demand next summer. Having Sergi, Roerslev, Thompson and say Vagnoman all with PL WB/FB experience and ready to step up will be important.

may only be friendlies we've seen him in but wow i'm in love with this man. What an engine. Absolutely love his desire, no surprise he nicknamed free-kick Frank, loves a tackle. Expect him to be regularly booked and worries me he'll get the occasional red too seeing how var has worked in previous seasons!
