His family history doesn’t mention his colour or heritage.

There may have been a player of Indian heritage too but, sadly, lack of records to hand cannot prove it.
There’s a question over a reserve player as well, which hasn’t been confirmed either way.
So Fred Corbett is our first.
Chris is the first in the football league. Followed closely by Terry Rowe.
Terry Rowe actually played before Chris in 1980 but these were friendly and reserve matches.
1980/1981, which saw the rebirth of the youth team, at least four apprentices played for Brentford FC of BAME heritage.
