That's interesting:

... with some players out on loan, and some nearing First Team football...

Has played some games in the third tier of Swedish mens football and done quite well by all accounts. 12 games, 4 goals and 'many' assists.. Guessing it's not a great standard but for a 17yr old that's def a positive..

Acropolis IF and Brentford FC have agreed on a sale of Fredrik Hammar. The talented midfielder who was recruited to the Acropolis in the summer of 2018 will join the Championship club immediately. Brentford FC is currently in eighteenth place in The Championship, the club advanced to The Championship for the 2014/2015 season, a Western London club founded in 1889.

Fredrik, born February 26, 2001, signed a contract spanning 1.5 years during the summer of 2018. Fredrik Hammar, 18, is regarded as one of Sweden's most promising midfielders and has been on trial with Everton, Freiburg and Cologne before joining the Acropolis IF.

Hammar played a total of 12 games for the Acropolis IF and was listed for 4 goals. He was involved in most of the offensive and was also responsible for a number of assistants. An explosive midfielder that exudes a wonderful energy, game perception and maturity in his game, a winner's skull, despite his small age.

Now he takes the step forward to The Championship club Brentford FC. For the Acropolis part, it is the first time in its long-standing history that one sells such a talented player to a foreign club. It is a big step and a transition that demonstrates how the club takes advantage of its players.

- Fredrik Hammar is a very talented player who has developed during his time in the Acropolis. A very lovely character, but since he is so young he must deal with difficult situations, something that I think he will develop during his time in England. Fredrik always wants to win, he is a winner skull and it is a key to succeed. I wish him the best, I value the time he was part of my squad, it is always great to work with players like Fredrik, players who want to develop and take the next step, expresses Konstantinos Panagopoulos.

Hammar has also made national matches for Sweden at the P15, P16 and P17 levels. He was a starting player in the U17-EM which was settled in England in May and there he became Sweden's best scorer with a total of 2 goals.

- He has been mature for senior play and he showed that during the last season in the Acropolis IF. Fredrik has represented the Acropolis in an excellent way, a midfielder who despite his young age has been very mature in his game, both on and off the pitch. During the second half of the season he played for us, you could clearly see his talent. He helped us with his wonderful game and we are more than happy that such a player takes the step abroad through the Acropolis IF. We want to thank Fredrik for this time. The collaboration between all parties has been extraordinary, we wish Fredrik a great success in his new adventure, says sports manager Georgios Gogas.

Excellent spoken English again by a Scandinavian in his "welcome" interview.

So, what do people make of Hammar? He seems to have stepped up from the B team pretty quickly and has had a fair bit of game time with the first team so far in pre-season having been kept on after the training camp. Seems like Frank sees something in him. Haven't seen that much of him but he looks very good technically, not entirely sure what else he adds? Scored on Sat though..

To be honest he looks a long way off but he's got plenty of energy and running in him. I'm sure he'll benefit from the experience.

Fredrik Hammar on the bench for Brentford tomorrow. Great! Only nine months ago he became the best player of the match (Northern team) in tomorrow's stars. Now drive the guy, no brake. # Ettanfotboll # DivisionEtt # Tomorrow'sStars

An important part of the success is of course the @ Akropolis_IF dare let him out. They gave a young 17-year-old the opportunity to bloom at senior level, and as he did. Age is a number, but if you play well enough, you play - point!

Not great news. I'm guessing that if Maupay is not involved and Valencia's clearance has not come through, we need a B team attacker on the bench. Hence Hammar rather than Oksanen or Zamburek.

I think Valencia has clearance but it could be we want to give him another week. Jansen is another we might bring in more slowly and Kamo has only come back this week (which frees up a squad space). I suspect at home we might have three attacking subs so it might not be that bad. And also we might just rate the kid - as others have said his physical approach to English football looks decent

Looks like Hammar is with the B team in Spain so he's finally getting back to fitness. He seemed pretty close to the first team early on so maybe he'll give us another midfield/attacking option.. Looks stronger than Zamburek. Racic also with the B team so obviously getting back to fitness.

The latest B teamer to make his senior debut this afternoon. Was surprised to revisit his details and find he was only signed a year ago, to an 18 month contract, with another year's option.

Looked a bit confused at left wing back tbh but had a half decent chance to score

He seemed to have been unofficially promoted at the start of last season (seems a long time ago now) but then suffered a horrendous injury.

He’s come back to full fitness since the turn of the year, made his debut and trained solely with the first team for the last two months.

However positive all of that progress sounds, though, he’s at the point where he needs minutes we won’t be able to give him so I reckon a loan to our friends at AFC Wimbledon might be beneficial.

They'll become known as Brentford B+ at this rate.

Slightly surprised Hammar hasn't been given a squad number, especially given Kane O'Connor and Maghoma have. Assuming the last two will be in the squad for sat but would have expected Hammar to be in there as he's pretty flexible and has been training regularly with the first team. He's not been called up has he?

I’d imagine Hammar will get a season long loan if someone will take him.

It's a shame for him that AFC Wimblescum took Oksanen, as obviously they wouldn't want to play two 19 year olds in midfield. Trying to think who our other current "partner" clubs are, can't think of anybody other than maybe Oxford United and Northampton Town. Wycombe would be a possibility, but at Championship level, nah.
