Just one of those games. Generally played well. 19 shots to their 11. Undone by pace of one man. Need to think about how we identify and then handle such a threat (thought this had happened after the Barbet booking, but clearly not). Also, we need to play more compact once we've conceded the first goal just to consolidate our position and make sure we don't quickly concede again (this has happened too often this season). But, these things aside, it was one of those days when things didn't run our way. Ball bounces off post onto keeper's back, for example.Focus on next match. We'll bounce back. Thought young lad who came on at right back looked very good for us. Cool head, good decision-making, decent looking temperament.

Kirk did look assured, considering the circumstances of his debut.

Certainly a game of 2 halves, 2nd half showed our inability to deal with pace, combined with going down to 10 men sealed our fate. WELL DONE TO ALL THAT TRAVELLED.

To be honest. He was great when we were chasing the game. Didn’t notice him first half. The counter attack player of dreams!

Difference was first half we spotted the warning sign early on when Barbet got booked. Moses dropped back and we were able to contain James by doubling up on him. There was no way in earth we were going to match him for pace - think he would have even left Henry for dead one on one.

It all went pear shaped when he got the clear run through for the 2nd goal then the foul for the sending off.
One of those games unfortunately but as someone has said already there have been too many of them this season

When it happens time and time again it's not just one of those games sadly. it's a flaw in us that needs to be fixed if we want to progress.

As soon as I saw us trying to play slowly and control the game, I feared the worst. If we'd played with the speed and intensity we brought against Villa, we'd have been out of sight at half time.

Da Silva needs to get himself to the gym or Slimming World, possibly both, he plays like he's got lead in his boots.

That was tough to watch. Talk about a game of two half’s. I have to say that I expected a difficult second half, but did not see that coming. A of of work still needed if we want to challenge next season..

Very disappointed tonight!

sh*t. So Sergi isn't a left back. We've got Rico. Also Henryk. Hopefully soon

No and he’s not a right back either which is where he ended up after wing back before sending off.

You can’t go away, have all that possession and expect them not to improve after the break.
It reminded me of Rangers away, we capitulated with a mad 10 minutes.
When we needed leaders we were lacking

Exactly what I said , Barnet away as well

The break from our sh*t free kick debacle was an absolute joke. At least have your quickest player in Odubajo back instead of nobody if caught on break.

We have a very thin squad, leavers have not been replaced and we are well short of a side capable of making the play offs. But the second half performance today was something else....

A massive insult to those who travelled, less so, maybe, for those who watched and didn't!
Ups and downs aside we aint that good when it gets a bit fractious.
That is what being a Bees fan is all about.
CRAP today - ........season over. Sell this now BFC???

Going through Port Talbot on the coach back. What were the players drinking...or smoking...at half time??

According to the OS, he signed for us in July 2017. Another Dane.

Yes on loan. It was extended in the summer for another year but I can't see anything about him signing permanently so I think he's still a FC Midtjylland player.

Disappointed with all the goals conceded (obviously). We rather threw it away. Seems like groundhog day with the errors. Thought after Derby we would never concede a goal from the edge of the opposition box. 3 in 17 minutes today similar to the home match at GP. I will forgive today if we learn from it and win the league match.

Think Barbet owes Konsa a pint.

Not our day. Silly unnecessary Konsa foul gives them great chance , free kick in off post and keeper, crazy free kick and cover gifts second goal, Barney suicidal pass down to 10. They had done nothing different from first half and were suddenly ahead and 1 man up.
Frank looked a very angry man (rightly) and this will have repercussions. If only we had taken one or two more of first half chances. Nutty game football and it’s easy to be sanguine when not facing a long journey home COYB

Or two. Haven’t seen it again, but I thought that Barbet got barged at his mishit the pass - not sure if it was enough for a free kick but like to see it again.

I guess everybody will be on to Sergi's limitation as a back now. I think we can bounce back very quickly and give Swansea a 90 minute shock- even with Dan James.

Unbelievable.

Not excusing our own awful play.
Konsa was on to a hiding with that suicidal ball by Barbet, and it wasn't his first or last of the game. No doubting the red but shouldn't have even been allowed to get into that position.
Their first goal was a free kick, but soft and ones that weren't given our way at the other end.
Their 2nd. Words can not explain it. To send all our defenders up, actually everyone was further than our free kick taker, and not put the ball in the mix whilst it's 1-1 is a joke.
Their 3rd was coming and before that we should have made a sub then. 2 of 3 centre backs on a yellow card well before the 3rd and if we'd had slowed the game down (Swansea had so much momentum at that point) then maybe Konsa may not have got sent off, maybe Barbet might have gone off as he was too slow to stop the Swansea attack. Maybe things may have swung back for us.
But we make a change when it's 4-1, sorry, they had the goal incorrectly disallowed so it was 3-1.
Then right after their 4th was disallowed, another offside given and their guy already on a yellow kicks the ball away 40 yards. Why no second yellow? That too would have made it a completely different game as they'd have to reshuffle too.
Sawyers booking was again correct but could quite easily seen a red too, as he gave no regard to the players safety in what he done. But their guy, again on a yellow, kicks the ball back at him. Only avoided a card as he missed everyone. Not the point.

Atwell was appalling but he still was better than us, and that says something.

The offside goal was the correct decision, the bloke was offside just over the half way line, it wasn’t the shot/rebound that was offside.

Why they never picked up yellows for kicking/throwing the ball away several times is just plain unfair.

Sawyers was a yellow for a tactical trip, I don’t know how you think it was dangerous.

Just for balance, I thought Sawyers put in a massive shift today when clearly not at his best. Worked his socks off. Onwards.

He signed initially on a one year loan.

But I think the loan must have been extended/renewed, as this report from last month implies:
"Nikolaj Kirk spoke to us after captaining the side to a 3-2 AET win at Wingate & Finchley FC on Tuesday evening. The 20-year-old, on loan from FC Midtjylland, played 120 minutes at centre-back...

A game that finished 4-1 but basically a close match that could have gone either way when you look at the whole thing. After the sending off, 2-1 down, it's a totally different game because we have to go after them and obviously we leave ourselves exposed at the back. But we were deservedly 1-0 at HT and they got a goal from nowhere, somewhat fortuitously in off via keeper and post. I think if that bounces out and doesn't go in we go on to win the game, it was that much of a fine margin. What followed was essentially a consequence of that.

Understand the frustrations for those enduring the long trip home but I thought overall we played ok and were a bit unlucky that a few breaks went the other way

Ok, but based on today's performance, he didn't look out of place against a Championship team.

sh*t team today and, now, it appears official, a small club with small minded players and leadership!
****ing angry with the distinct lack of commitment from our players!

Totally understand your annoyance - I'm fuming!

However don't target one player - it's a team game after all.

Incredible game of football for all the wrong reasons... another defensive disasterclass where we concede far too many in 10./ 15 spells.. Derby away, Swansea at home, QPR away, Preston away.. now Swansea away at the cup... very bad and this needs to be addressed in the transfer market.

Too true that performance at the back was and is unacceptable, we need to tighten up at the back and add some pace.as mentioned it was Keystone cops and needs to be addressed. In fact I would say our defending today was embarrassing. Regardless of having a speed merchant, we should have had cover at the back. I personally am more concerned at playing football in the Championship I would have loved us to win today but it was not to be. How the hell can we collapse like that after playing well in the Ist half, having little cover also cost us in ill discipline

Good post. I will add to that and say if the loose ball after our free kick for their second goal had fallen to anyone other than James someone would have caught them.

What the issue is though is that this is one of many fine margin games that have gone pear shaped. What the overall problem is I just don't know

Today illustrated how games can turn on run of the ball. The football gods were on Swansea's side at the start of the second half. OK we made errors but they led to goals and the game changed. That's it really.

Inexperience I think. When’s the wheels started to fall off, no one dug in and tried to keep hold of the ball.

2 in 13. Or 2 in 3 ;)

Falling apart like that with schoolboy defending, not the first time this season sadly.

Agree. Clear as day. The TV people just concentrated on the last part of the move.

Probably because the free kick to restart was taken from our box. Atwell is such a pedant that he would surely have insisted it be taken from near the half way line if that was where the offside had been given.
