Personally, I think it's a bit much to do Hey Jude before AND after the game.

Before is great, gets everyone singing along, but to do it immediately on the final whistle just feels a bit like we're overdosing on it.

If fans thought it was overdosing then why do they independently and spontaneously sing it during games?

From our seats in the South Stand the acoustics are great from all parts of the ground. The West stand in particular booms out very large and so does the away end (f they get started). It was a decent atmosphere on Sunday but with such a tight nervous second half it was always going to be a bit patchy sound wise. As for the light show I thought it added something as well as the choice of music. If we ever get to the point that we are getting bored with it because we are winning at home so often I will also be very happy....

However I strongly object to being told to sit down when we jumped up after Toney scored and as we leapt around for about 30 seconds hugging each other. There are some miserable killjoys and this couple didn’t miss any football, you get the impression they are happiest when they have a reason to be unhappy and complain.

I’m not proud to admit but after that I took great delight in standing up far more often than I would have done, go to the theatre if you don’t want people clapping and getting animated and jumping up at times.

I've done 50+ years of following the Bees home and away, so I understand you're viewpoint, but we need to move on and hand the game to the 21st century supporters. However much we want to, life doesn't stand still so we adapt or get left behind.

I think you misread, we were up celebrating after Ivan scored the penalty. The game hadn’t restarted and the penalty was at the other end so me standing up wouldn’t have impaired his view anyway. The man’s a miserable mood hoover who enjoys moaning

You imply that 21st century supporters wouldn’t enjoy being part of a white hot atmosphere and will only respond/enjoy a sanitised football environment. Why would that be the case? I’m not against moving with the times but I don’t believe that newer supporters wouldn’t want Lionel Road to be a cauldron of fan generated noise (and that doesn’t have to be offensive or not family friendly)

If you had posted on the GPG 5/10 years ago that fans would have be complaining about the music being played after a Premier League victory over Everton in a brand new stadium.... [you can add the rest yourself ]

The club aren't "actively dictating" anything. Anyone who doesn't like the post-match* arrangements may just leave. Just as those who didn't like Kool and the Gang could hurry out of GP.


* - I say "post-match" because the pre-match stuff seems to be well-received, while the h-t arrangments are largely unchanged eg Sir Peter of Gilham on the mic and Mr. Benham picking a song etc

You can fully appreciate and have absolutely loved the last tens years, be entirely grateful to Matthew Benham, fully support Thomas Frank, admire our squad and how well they are doing this season, and still have concerns about off the field stuff all at the same time. But you know that.

They are dictating the atmosphere, supporters efforts will be drowned out immediately pre and post game, based on the last few games, by the sound system (as was the case when the West Stand errupted into song at the final whistle of the Liverpool game, only to be drowned out by FFD, which was a real shame as the noise was starting to travel round the whole ground and it could have been a moment to savour).

I think the club have entirely good intentions but are trying too hard to force an atmosphere, with the end result being a bit plastic and shallow. We’ve got a proper home end for the first time in decades, the Bournemouth, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea games showed that a brilliant, organic atmosphere can be created by the fans, so let them get on with it.
