A thread for all cricket other than series or competitions with their own thread.

Cricket lovers treat today with live cricket from 03:45 to 21:30. NZ v Bangladesh ODI currently underway (NZ chasing 272 are 79-3 off 18 ) , India v England ODI from 08:00 then West Indies v Sri Lanka test resumes at 14:00 (Windies take a smallish but probably crucial lead in that game - the big lad Raheem Cornwall getting a maiden 50).

Will distract me from my work today without a doubt.

Cracking test match between WI and SL. Heading for a draw and good comeback by SL after a poor first innings display.

I suspect there is more to this story than meets the eye. Seems from afar that Archer seems very down and maybe being in a bubble for the last couple of months has taken it toll. Who knows.

What's your theory then?

I don't have a theory but for someone that plays video games a lot and has done for the last couple of months (one needs to use both hands for that right?) and I for one not known anyone having surgery from a cut in the hand (not to say this has never happened). Something doesn't seem right here

So you do have a theory then and that is he's injured his hand playing video games. Is that right, I'm trying to decipher the innuendo here..

Erm no. It is clearly stated he 'cut' his hand in January whilst 'cleaning'. So if one's hand is not quite right one wouldn't expect them to be playing video games. I am saying as in my original post, there is more to this that maybe meets the eyes - that is all. I referenced to the fact maybe the fact it is related to being in a bubble for so long. If one looks at his tweets over the last 'month' or so does this look as a 'happy' person right now. This could be me adding 2 plus 2 and getting 5.

OK, we'll leave it at innuendo then.

Interesting. If teams can quarantine why can’t umpires? Third umpiring can be done remotely.

Anyway, I hope the on-field umpiring this coming summer is better than the umpiring when WI and Pakistan toured England last summer.

I did years ago. I cut it in the gym. Got misdiagnosed as something which would heel naturally. It didn't and kept re opening.

Had minor surgery and stitches on it as a result. It was a lovely feeling when they removed all the sh*t that had accumulated after the initial mis diagnosis.

My club (Sutton CC) return to pre season nets on Thursday.
Bit early for a grass square wicket but no problem when you have installed these (£80k).

Anyone watching Windies v Sri Lanka? The other Josh Da Silva got a DRS review that to everyone defied physics. Simply cannot believe how ball tracker had the ball missing. JDS was almost in the pavilion and looked embarrassed to be called back. Bizarre.

Dhananjaya probably didn’t think he could turn the ball as much as DRS think he can.

Good read. This part was ever so telling

‘After the summer I had, maybe my best since 2016, I felt like it was my shirt. Six months down the line I haven’t played a game and that’s simply the word for it: frustrating’

After the spin-fest in India, should English groundsmen raise the mower blades? “We’ll want conditions that suit us more than them, it would be daft to do otherwise because winning is a habit and we’ve a great chance to regain the Ashes. India going to Australia and winning showed us they are beatable.” (y)

That looks lovely. Really miss not playing and the sweet anticipation of a new season when I see this. Doesn't even look like there's a slope. (I'm assuming your main square still has a significant tangent?)

Main square is pretty flat but falling away in one corner.

Just over a week til the IPL. I know its not for the purists but I have always enjoyed it, especially the fielding. Its a good time for me to watch and I let my Mrs have a bet so she gets right into it. She likes Mumbai because she thinks their players names are funny (De Koch and Hardik). Whats your thoughts this time Indian Bee? Mumbau should be very strong again if Bumrah plays all series. Interesting Delhi chose Pant for captain and not Smith, I guess looking long term. My outside bet is RCB to finally break their duck, looks likely Kohli will open this time. Cant believe nobody picked up Jason Roy?

I am sure next week someone will open up a IPL thread. Not a huge fan of IPL (some of the results lets say were a bit suspect in previous years and I know a few whom have made some money out of it) but can be fun to watch. Although was fortunate to be living in India when it first started in 2008. The IPL parties and the after parties back in the day were superb.

Not followed whom each team have recruited but Mumbai Indians must be favourites. I just find the IPL too long over nearly 2 months. If they could condense it down to a month it be more popular than it already is.

You obviously never read my post on the questions you want answered thread. :ROFLMAO: It's been a while and I've got a bad back at the moment, but if ever you are really short and need a 3rd man...

Yep will be following him for the next couple of years. Be interesting what path he chooses to take once his university days are over.
Well, if he's playing for Leeds/Bradford Uni's I reckon he is obliged to move on to Yorkshire. I'm sure his dad will approve.

Already signed to Middlesex isn't he? A guy who I used to captain was playing for Loughborough against Leicestershire this week.

I'm very proud of him.

Rain delayed the start of the final day of the second test between West Indies and Sri Lanka, which appears to be heading for a draw, with SL needing 377 to win, and are 38-0.

Pakistan seem to be cruising to victory over South Africa in their first ODI, needing 274 to win they are currently 169-1, with 20 overs left.

208-5 in the 40th now so much tighter finish expected.

Are Pakistan trying to lose this.

:banghead:

3 to win off the last over with 4 wickets left and he tries to hit it out of the ground and gets out.

3 off 4 balls.

Pakistan win by 3 wickets with a four off the last ball, with the field all drawn in.

SA may be a bit disappointed with 341-6, could have got closer to 400, with De Kock and Bavuma scoring big up the top of the order. Miller 50 off 27 balls got them to a reasonable score how good a score we won't know until Pakistan come to bat.

Fakhar played a superb lone knock. 193 off 155 with zero support. For anyone watching his run-out by DeKock was hilarious.

ICC Law 41.5. 1 it is unfair for any fielder wilfully to attempt, by word or action, to distract, deceive or obstruct either batsman after the striker has received the ball. Should have been awarded 5 runs.

^^ got the above from the internet so trusting it is true:LOL:

So the decider will be played on Wednesday and South Africa will be without De Kock, Miller, Rabada, Nortje and Ngidi as they will be flying to India for their IPL commitments. There is something wrong in this for international cricket going forward.

It's time that they say there should be no international cricket during the IPL.

It's the biggest domestic competition in the world and its not going anywhere.

Just block out a month when there's no international cricket.

I think this ODI/T20 series with Pakistan and South Africa was hastily arranged at short notice. I believe Covid in South Africa resulted in decimating the cricket calendar
